It is really very sad to see this place abandoned and forgotten by the Brits. It is a rather large cementary but most of the headstones are illegible. Seems that the last time the British Government did anything in this place was over 10 years ago and it is rather sad as the British had a large presence in this city hundreds of years ago. I was very moved and saddened by the poor conditions of the place. Feel so sorry by those buried here who have been forgotten by their families and their government.

Pemakanan yang ada dari zaman dahulu...terkenal dibengkulu...tetapi kurang terawat tempatnya...padahal sejarah disini banyak

Terletak di depan sebuah cafe gaul di Bengkulu. Makam tentara inggris yg wafat zaman penjajahan. Dengan nisan khas desain Eropah jaman dulu. Sedikit kurang terawat. Merupakan wisata anti mainstream yg wajib dikunjungi bila datang ke sini.

This cementery in Bengkulu was a very sad experience for me. The English were here for over 300 years thus the people buried here are English citizens with family in England. It seems that the last time the English Embassy did anything in this cementery was 30 years ago and eventually the few headstones which are legible will disappear. It’s just so so sad the neglect inflicted to these British citizens who lived and died for England!

komplek kuburan yang satu ini adalah peninggalan makam inggris bersejarah di bengkulu. sayangya menurut saya makam ini kurang mendapat perhatian dari pemda bengkulu.

Wah sebenarnya makam Inggris ini cukup terawat dengan bentuk mak yang unik. Sebagian besar sudah tidak ada namanya dan hanya dicat putih .

Sebagai pecinta sejarah, mungkin saya terlalu mematok ekspektasi terlalu tinggi sebelum datang ke tempat ini. Namun begitu sampai disana, terus terang saya agak kecewa. Kondisinya cukup memprihatinkan. Kompleks makam ini sudah terlalu lama tidak diurus, banyak nisan yang sudah hilang & rusak. Sudah dibangun rumah di tengah makam. Dipakai untuk menjemur cucian. Bahkan tidak ada data detail siapa saja yang dimakamkan disini. Padahal Bengkulu adalah satu-satunya yang menyimpan jejak kolonial Britania Raya di nusantara. Semoga pengelolaan kedepan lebih baik lagi.

begitu banyak makam bernilai sejarah di tempat ini, termasuk kuburan keempat anak Stamford Raffles. namun entah kenapa perawatannya serba minimalis, gapura yang hampir runtuh, rumput yang tinggi tidak terawat, hingga nisan-nisan yang dibiarkan pecah begitu saja.

It happened over hunders year ago but the rest of the bodies are there. Young man and woman who passed away from a.o. malaria desease. Pitty, only the grass is cutted but the grave is become ruined. Except one grave from a Dutch who has note from his far away family, there is no sign from the other families.
There must be something to be done that those buried will still remembered on their role in Bengkulu.
