Our family went to buy some the amazing pottery for sale and Hamilton showed us how he makes a jug live in front of us!

This place is a little hard to find but worth the trip! The pottery is beautiful and it was lovely meeting the artists behind the work.

Traditionally made pottery that is sold at this outlet and is considered as collectable. There are some pretty good display items made here and was very interesting looking at them all.

I was looking for a gift for a friend overseas and saw a beautiful breadfruit leaf platter from Red Clay Pottery at an art gallery. Upon visiting the pottery I found an authentic Barbadian Green monkey display plate and refrigerator magnets. I was overjoyed since my friend loves the local monkey and really loved her gift. I was also relieved since I couldn't find any green monkey souvenirs anywhere else.

We made a point of seeking this pottery out as we liked the "Maggie Bell" items that are made here.
Bit tricky to find and doesn't stand on ceremony for tourists.
We wandered into the "shop", as no one was about, we went through to the pottery where there were a couple of employees.
An elderly gent appeared and was very helpful with allowing us to look around, he also offered us a tour of the whole works which sadly we didn't have time for.
However, we bought a few things and were able to agree a price that was acceptable.
I don't think many tourists visit, but if you want to have some pottery, you may find this a nice way of acquiring it, seeing where it was made.

definitely not much to look at if the store is even open when you go. I was very disappointed. would not recommend this place unless you are visiting all the other chattels in the area.

If you're lucky, Maggie Bell or her father will be home and and you'll meet the characters behind the pottery, or see the artisans at work.

Several years ago we chanced across this wonderland of the clay arts when on vacation in Barbados.
After extensive travels throughout the Caribbean, we can tell you this is one shop you must see and like us, you will take home pieces you will treasure for a lifetime.
We proudly showcase a magnificent plate with a beautiful hand designed parrot in the family room of our Orlando home.
Maggie and her associates are delightful and will treat you as family.
Truly this shop is worthy of your time and her pieces are reasonably priced and hand made on location...not in China!

Tucked away but worth the adventure you will find the best work being done in clay on the island in my opinion. Wonderful to see that they are still doing the very important work of keeping traditional pottery going as they continue to produce Monkey Jars, conarees and coal pots. You see their work in all the craft shops in Barbados so why not go and see the place it all comes from as we did. The steps of the house by the pottery are very photogenic.

Maggie Bell's Pottery is a hidden treasure in Barbados and for all those who love art and authentic red clay pottery, this is an attraction not to be missed. This place is not glitzed up - it is pottery in its rawest state. You can watch it being made. You can order what you want and above all it is not the multicoloured commercial stuff you see in most of the galleries and the commercial pottery places. The selection is not huge but substantial and certainly there is sufficient inventory to make a selection. What I loved more than anything was the fact that there are items such as the Barbados pickling crock - you don,t see this kind of pottery anywhere else on the island. Maggie Bell is an artist and her work is unique and that is what I loved. Oh yes and she has the best prices on the island and will pack your purchases for you and send them to wherever. five stars to Red Clay Pottery.
