We went scuba diving with Julio (@juliodivingcuba) across from La Cueva de los Peces in the Bay of Pigs, between Playa Girón and Playa Larga. Julio is a great divemaster and ensured our diving experience was special. From a shore dive entry, there is a wall and also a wreck 45' deep. Julio is a great communicator, keeping us informed since our trip planning all the way till the final dive.

Tour led by Carlos A. Betencourt Diaz at +53 542 910 57, The entire experience, memorable. The companionship was outstanding. It’s about a 14 hour trip from Havana Cuba to the bay of pigs, gorgeous scenery, historically, note worthy. The tour also includes a cruise of the Cuban version of the Everglades, and a visit to one of the oldest Indian reservations in the world, it’s in pristine condition. The trip was topped off by a trip to Butty, a fabulous restaurant, great sea food and lobster.
When in Cuba, please don’t miss this trip.

I went over there for a day to scuba dive at Cueva de los Peces.
Oktober was still wet season, so nature showed itselve in all its green splendor.
There was no sandy beach, both rather rocky shores.
There was an access for divers, swimmers and snorklers. It wasn't an easy access, but still good if you are not too clumsy.
There is a small dive centerand a souvenir shop at the diving spot.
Beatifull large coral and interesting marine life, not abundant, but still interesting.
The small wreck is worth visiting, try to observe the micro marine live.

Idyllisk badestrand. Stedet hvor president Kennedy mislyktes i kuppforsøk mot Castro. Grisebukta er misvisende. Spansk betegnelse: Cochinos, som også betyr hunnfisk av arten «Balistos vetula»). Interessant å se hvor mye det betød for cubanerne å hive amerikanerne på sjøen.

Nous avons dormi a playa larga en plein dans la baie des cochons , notre circuit nous a permis de faire du snorkeling avec des tas de poissons , de la plage avec une super plage de sable, la visite du maison du cloibri ou nous avons approchés une multitude de colibris, c'etait merveilleux et l'agence cuba criolla nous a aussi fait faire une randonnée avec un scientifique a la decouverte du parc national.

I spent 12 days here this year in February. It was a wonderful experience, however I was greatly disappointed in the bird tours through the park. In fact it was so bad I won't use them again.
First, the renovated jeep three of us were put in was a horrible vehicle for a tour. You couldn't see out the windows on the long, rugged road and the driver thought he was in the Grand Prix. Second, the Guide spoke English as did the passengers. He talked in Spanish with the driver the entire trip and only acknowledged us when I asked him questions. Third, halfway there he informed us there weren't many birds this year. After agreeing to pay $50 for the trip this was a big disappointment. He was right...due to no rainfall this year, all but 10 flamingos had left and they were so far away they might have left too.
I feel they should have told us beforehand that there weren't any birds to see except pelicans and ibis and a couple of herons.
I might as well have put my money in the garbage. It was a waste of time and money!!! Maybe it will be better in the rainy season. The private trips I took were extremely fun and birds galore!

Nous y sommes allées avec un enfant de 5 ans.. nous nous sommes régalés... rocheux certes mais avec de bonnes chaussures cela ne posera aucun problème car dans l'eau c'est du sable...possibilité d accéder à la mer par un escalier fait dans la roche... possibilité d y passer la journée. Possibilité de donner à manger aux poissons et c'est tout simplement magnifique... un peu salé au niveau des transat mais cela reste secondaire...

Read about what happened here before you go and use your imagination to think about the Americans trying to land here and it being a place of war. It is now a peaceful sandy bay with blue seas. So different from then. There is a hotel and commercial beach at the far end.

Once a place of invasion, now a place of incredible beauty.
A fishing village surrounded by newer buildings and plenty of rooms to rent, restaurants, gorgeous waters, etc.
We visited the Cave of Fish, Crocodile Park, took in some history and ate at the Tiki Restaurant which had the most amazing chicken soup, smoked bbq pork chop and beef, which also served blue crab, fish, and calamari.
Take a taxi driver that knows the history! I have a recommendation but not sure if I can post but will say his name is Carlos (goes by Charlie by the hotels) and has a 1959 Ford Fairlane. They know who he is, so ask.

Bonjour, je prévois d'aller à la Baie des Cochons depuis Vinales et je me demandais si c'était facile d'accès, combien de temps il faut sur place pour profiter et faire de la plongée et ensuite si c'est difficile de retourner sur la Havane après ? Pas mal de questions mais si vous avez la moindre infos je suis preneuse merci beaucoup !!

Hi, I think we got there in approximately 5 hours, but we got stuck in traffic jam when leaving Varadero.

There is no deep sea as no boatsbhve motors. There is flats fishing for bonefish. Are you interested in that?

I read a couple of reviews tha mention going to a private home with hummingbirds. Does anyone have a name, or directions? We will be in Cuba in September and would like to see it/

As noted above we also used Cuban Trip Compass to visit the Hummingbird house. You can google the company to find out contact information.

some hotels have excursion booths set up and you will probably find a tour to bay of pigs. also you can hire a taxi to take you there. I think the cost for a private taxi would be about 120 return. He would wait for you

My wife and I will be visiting Cuba in November. I am a history teacher with a special interest in he Bay of Pigs. Does anyone have any experience with guided overnight trips tour guides from Havana to this area that know the battle well?

Try Intrepid. They have great guides and if you are lucky enough to get Valarie you'll get an excellent history lesson too. He was a school teacher before becoming a guide and we found him fantastic. There is a museum worth visiting but everything is in Spanish so you'll need your translator.
Cuba is fantastic, the people are amazing and their strength of independence a tribute to the culture.
