‪DON'T DO IT! We go deep sea fishing every year and this was by far the worst experience ever. I paid for 4 hours of fishing for me and my son but when the taxi finally arrived to pick us up (30 minutes late) they drove us to a marina that had garbage everywhere. We turned into a group of 9 and when I asked how many boats were taking us out, suddenly nobody spoke English. When we finally got out to the fishing boat, it was in extremely rough shape and even had holes broken into the side. The guy in the transport boat kept pushing us to get into the fishing boat but I refused because the fishing boat could only have 4 rods in the water at a time. Even if they tried putting more lines in the water, there was only 1 worker on the boat. When I told them I paid for a group of 4 to go fishing, they drove me back to the shore and called the owner of the company. I spoke to him on the phone and he told me I couldn't leave and that If I wanted to leave, I had to pay my own taxi fair back (which was $80 USD). Eventually someone in an actual dress shirt came over and told us he would drive us back. When we got back to the resort, the guy we booked with, Ligne, told me it was my fault for booking the trip with so many people. I told him I paid for 4 hours of fishing with my son and he told me, some people watch, some people fish. Then he told me he's done this for 14 years and I'm the first problem he's had. There were 2 other dads with their sons in the boat, who had the same experience as me, therefore it clearly was not just my misunderstanding. After being told there was no way they were going to refund my money, I looked to warn other people, and I immediately found a review where the exact same thing happened to someone else. My bad. I've always been able to trust the staff at the resorts but this is our first time in the Dominican, so apparently you can't work on trust here. It's VERY buyer beware. Hopefully this saves someone else from wasting their time and money. It's NOT as advertised.‬

‪I agree with the other comments. A non-talkative team who are more there to take you on a boat tour than a fishing trip. 4 rods for 8 participants 1 fish released. They don't offer to keep it or cook it, the catch is theirs! In addition to tipping. Water, rum and coke are present on the boat. But watch out for seasickness!‬

‪My husband and I are on our honeymoon in Punta Cana and really wanted to go deep sea fishing while we are here. We booked a trip with Crazy Gator through Delta Vacations at our resort (I will get back to that in a minute) and we were told that we would be picked up at 7:40 the next morning.
By 8:00, there were no signs of a shuttle and the employees in the lobby all seemed confused when we showed them our tickets. We considered calling it a no show and getting our money back. We wish we would have!
At 8:05 a personal vehicle pulled up and we were told that this was our guy. We were both confused as we were told that it would be a shuttle and that there would be multiple others from our resort... but this guy had our information, so we went. From there, we travelled to one other resort and picked up another guy who was equally as confused. Our driver said nothing to us and was on his phone with multiple people during our trip asking questions about where he was going.
We travelled for about an hour before being dropped off in an extremely sketchy area. (While we were still in the car, multiple people would beat on the windows and ask for money, drugs etc)
When we got to the Crazy Gator, we expected a marina - wrong. We were dropped at a shack and told that when we got back from fishing we needed to buy something from the shack (weird)
We were given our group and we were walked to the beach. Mind you, we were ALL told that we would have 6 maybe 8 people on board. NO MORE THAN 8 WERE ALLOWED. Well, we had 12 people on our ship - this was yet another red flag to me.
Once at the beach, we were piled into a small boat and taken to our fishing boat. Fishing boat had no ladder, just had to climb and hope you could pull yourself up. We had no issues, but there were older couples on the boat and I can only imagine that they were not pleased.
Once on board, my husband, who fishes a lot and had been telling me all morning to expect the boat to be dirty and “not nice”, looked at me and said “there is a difference in a dirty boat and a broken boat. This boat is not safe” GREAT
We were offered rum and coke or water, told to throw up over the side of the boat, and then we were off. I had taken dramamine and still managed to get sick. Two others vomited for the entire 4 hours. (The crew did nothing for them but offer them rum...)

As we get out into deep water, the mate did every bit of setting the lines without talking to anyone or explaining what he was doing. A lot of people on board had never been on a deep sea trip before and had no clue what was going on. There were a few experienced fishermen on board and they decided to be the “mates” and explain what he was doing to the rest of the boat. I say this just because it would have been nice to have an engaging crew... not the case. Once the lines were set, the captain and the mate stayed on the upper deck smoking cigarettes and drinking rum.
After a few minutes, one of the lines got a hit. No one on board knew who should jump to get the pole as it was up above us. The mate didnt seem to be in a hurry at all to get it to us. Once he came down, he told me to get in the chair and handed me the rod and told me to reel. I started reeling and quickly lost the fish. He turned around and said “why didnt you reel faster? Lost a barracuda..” I was dumbfounded. Having never been, I expected to be coached through the process. Nope.
For the next 3.5 hours, we did not get a single bite and the crew didnt make any efforts to change it up or attempt something different in hopes of finding the fish. There was a commercial fisherman and 2 very seasoned fishermen on board and they pointed to spots multiple times saying “we need to go over there. The fish are there” and they were completely ignored.

The whole time, the mate said nothing to us other than asking multiple times if we wanted rum. It felt like they were banking on us being content being on a boat being drunk... not the case.

FINALLY we got back to shore (all of us just wanted to be off the boat - didnt care about paying for 4 hours). Once we were back, we were dropped off and given zero direction. We had no shuttle, no phone number to call anyone, nothing. My husband, the guy we picked up on the way and I all decided we needed to stay together. We finally ended up begging another shuttle to take us and they said they couldnt, but we were directed to a taxi, so we got in. Our taxi driver had no idea where we were going, so we had to try our best to point the way. Luckily, we made it back.
Once back on the resort, a guy from AmStar asked us how our fishing trip was. We told him it was awful and explained everything. When we told him it was Crazy Gator he was mortified. He told us that they NEVER recommend them and that they arent even supposed to send anyone there from our resort and that we NEVER should have had to get in a taxi in that part of town. We were seething.... Luis from Delta Vacations sent us there even after we asked him if it was a safe place. We will be writing a separate review about that!‬

‪I booked the 4 hour morning option with my son. We had 9 people on our boat when we were told there would be 8 or less. The crew person did all of the work baiting lines and putting them in the water. Everyone just basically watched and if a fish did take one of the baits the crew handed the rod to whoever happened to be sitting in the big chair and they got to real it in. On our boat we "caught" one small fish total between the 9 of us. If you are hoping to do the work and use some skill to catch a fish this isn't going to happen.

My other concern with this tour is that the conditions were rough. The weather was good but the waves were just really big. I realize that we are talking about the open ocean and that the tour operator can't control the waves but the crew said that the conditions were pretty "normal". We took anti-nausea medication before we got on the boat because we didn't want to get sick. In the end... 7 of the 9 people on the boat got sick. We spent about 3 hours puking over the side of the boat. Given that the crew said the conditions were typical I would definitely not recommend this tour to people who don't have experience on the open ocean in a small boat.‬

‪We booked this excursion from the dive shop at the resort. We wanted to early morning trip but it was full for the day we wanted to go so we took the later time 12-6pm. They picked us up right on time, we started with 5 people on this excursion, you will see what I mean by started with. **Public service announcement here** If you are going to be going out on the ocean on a small boat please for the love of god take some Gravol. Ok now that is out of the way can get on with my review.

So once they pick us up we stopped at a couple of resorts to pick some more people up, there was my friend and I, and another person (we all took Gravol) then we pick up a couple. Headed to the boat when we get there, there was a guy that met us and they showed us a little shop and then down to the beach. They come get you in a little boat and then take you out to the fishing boat.
Once we got on the boat it was an older boat, but a good size typical fishing boat, only thing was the chair on deck didn’t have a back on it, but not sure if there was a back for it or not. The captain and deck hand were very friendly. Before we head out they showed us where the bathroom was and said if you get sick do it over the side of the boat. The ocean was pretty rough this day I would say between 10-20 foot swells. We headed out, you go about 6km out and you will be trolling. We had been out for almost 30 mins they started to put the lines in the water and then the couple (who did not take Gravol) had to go back in because they were sick. So they deck hand asked the rest of us if that was ok that we took them back in and we said yes. So we trolled the all the way back in, we caught one small barracuda and lost another one. Once we dropped the sick couple off the deck hand and captain looked at us and asked if we were ok and we were like Hell Ya! So with a big cheer we headed back out.
While we were out fishing we caught some more barracuda, it was slow fishing this day but as it is with fishing if the fish aren’t there nothing you can do. But we each caught fish (4 in total) each one was bigger then the next, and we had good laughs. The boat supplied water and rum and coke for drinks.
There was a couple of other boats out and we all came in around the same time, one of the other boats didn’t catch anything and the other boat had 7 people on it and they only caught 1 fish, so I think we did pretty good.
All in all we had a great time and would do it again.‬

‪Been fishing my whole life, everywhere for just about everything. This company doesn’t offer deep sea fishing, more like a boat ride to watch guys who put zero effort in.
5 rods, 8 people, trolling much too fast and baits running too closely behind boat. Luckily for me everyone was sick so I was up to the plate for anything that took.
So I sat in the chair, only one on board. No place for anyone to sit unless inside the diesel filed cuddy at about 40 degrees Celsius
I saw several fish take after the furthest running bait, asked the assistant to drop back all
Lines as I’d seen several takes, ignored me. Asked him to slow the boat so some of these taking fish could actually grab the bait, ignored me.
I did see a large marlin strike and hook up, called out fish on as the road bent over hard, took the guy forever to get down and get his hands on the rod as it was clear they handle the rods. No drag set on rod at all, he held it hard with zero drag until the fish broke off? I may not be a seasoned deep sea guy, but I know fishing and I’d never seen such a pathetic display in my life.
This fish was in excess of 150 lbs as I watched it hit the bait and clear 5 ft out of water. No drag is just plain not good fishing.
These guys could care less about anything fishing and it shows in their efforts and state of tackle and preparation.
Save your money, go with a private boat owner.‬

‪We did get our full time on the boat but the rest was a joke.
Old boat, bad service, standing around waiting for the "captain to get the boat ready" for an hour, only 2 fish for 10 guys etc. are all what this company provides.

I really want to go out again with a better company and see what how different it could be.

One positive. These guys know where the fish are. And, when they deploy proper fishing techniques, they pull in fish quickly. We bounced around for almost two hours at a rate of speed way to high to catch a fish. They slowed down for less than 30 minutes and we caught 2 fish. Then they motored back up and trolled for 2 more hours way too fast and we caught nothing.‬

‪We took a small shuttle boat that was overloaded with people out to the charter vessel where we had to climb up and over the side because there was not a platform or door to gain access. We then left and went out about 3- 5 miles. The seas were very rough and the only place for the 6 of us to sit was inside a hot stuffy cabin, so we all stood around the deck holding on to the sides to keep from getting knocked down. We were not shown where the life vest were kept nor any safer briefing. The captain did not have a working fish finder. The crew did not speak English. We were provided with cold non alcoholic drinks. We didn’t catch anything until we were 1/2 mile from shore and it was a barracuda. Very disappointing trip and would not recommend!!‬

‪From the start we've been told that there would be a snack bar on the boat and there was none. After one hour my wife started getting very sick, we asked them to take us back on land and they didn't want to. I imagine it wasn't hard to get someone to come and pick us up but it is what it is. They don't have a backup boat in case of emergency so if you happen to have a heart attack on the boat rest assured you'll go as a pirate because you'll be stuck there 4 hours on the sea.‬

‪Don’t do your excursions through your resorts, it’s all a scam! Went fishing, everybody there paid different prices for the same charter. Before you give any money, let them know if you can’t have your fish at the end of the day you’re not going. The resorts owns the boats the guys working on the boats are workers so they scam you by saying you can’t have the fish and then they go out and sell them to make money for themselves. It’s a bad scam that’s going to turn out very bad for someone in the future!!!!‬
