From the port there are people offering you the tour, we paid $3,500 Dominican pesos (59 USD) which includes the Haitises and Cayo Levantado + lunch on the beach. The park is a very beautiful and extensive place, you can find a variety of birds and it is a very natural, the guides explain the formation of the rocks and a little history.

This destination deserves 5 stars, it was fantastic. But there were two transfers between vehicles to get there, one of them at the side of the highway. We asked ahead of time via whatsapp, for vehicle details, but it was hard to get accurate information.
On to Las Haitises - fabulous! The mangroves, the boat trip, the views, the cliffs, the caves, the aboriginal markings, the lunch stop, our guide, everything was excellent. We debated between this trip and Saona. I'm fairly sure this was quite a different trip. Our guide was great but spoke a lot of Spanish (fair enough bcs we were with some Spanish speaking tourists). We both speak some limited Spanish so it wasn't a big problem for us, but may be for others.
One surprise on the way home that is both good and bad. We stopped at a parking lot and were told to get into a safari truck. I thought for a moment we were being transferred yet again! Grrr. But this was not the case. just bad communications. They took us on a wild ride up Montana Redondo, to a 300m high peak with a fabulous view. Thankfully the tour van was still there to get us home.
Overall a terrific day, I cannot say enough about Las Haitises National Park. But the transfers were not good. The operators keep that part quiet so as not to lose business.

Took part of a tour of the national park, including the caves and a nice stop on an island for lunch. The national park is beautiful!!! The tour guide and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. We even got to see a whale along the way. The trip was both relaxing and fun. Highly recommend but keep in mind it is a full day, we were picked up at 730am and returned at 7pm

This is a beautiful natural park. It takes a bout 30 minutes by boat to arrive from the Samana Peninsula. It is well worth the time and effort. Minutes after arriving at the entrance we saw a manatee feeding just off shore. There are several small islets with hundreds of birds of different species including herons, frigates, vultures and pelicans. There are some interesting caves to explore and the kayak ride through the mangroves was beautiful.

A beautiful and magical place to visit. The only access is by boat. Tours are available, but if you like it a little more private we found a nice option. We arrived in Sabana del Mar by car and met Moctezuma close to the harbour. He took us to the parking spot at the start of the mangroves, and we went in his small boat for a private tour with excellent guiding in English. The caves, birds and hanging cliffs are all amazing.

Beautiful ride (motorboat) of 45 minutes from Samana, beautiful mangrove and caves, often combined with cayo Leventado, 45 minutes sailing towards Samana.
Also includes a short walk through the mangrove and into the caves, which can be slippery with slippers. Not difficult.

1st bring a swimsuit/mosquito repellent/towel/snack.
2nd landscape worth seeing, totally away from palm trees and sand... pelicans, birds, various mangroves, vegetation, inospito caves... we really enjoyed the boat ride around the area...

To do but not with Tour Marina. Old boat that “rows”, so it feels like more of a boat trip than a visit to the park. Choose an outing with a French guide. Ours spoke broken French, so as he had to say his speech in Spanish and English as well, not many details. Were given to us (for example on the birds present). In short, a very pretty park but choose the tour operator carefully. Finally, if you have already gone to the islands elsewhere (we did a similar excursion in Thailand a few years ago), not sure that this one provokes the “wow” ;)

Nice to have seen. We booked this with a fast boat from Samana that went to the park and then to Cayo Levantado. To be honest, we expected a little more from the park. It is very nice and beautiful to sail through with a boat. You make a number of stops, but all the tours come together there so it is very busy. All in all, you can see very little of the national park from the water. But definitely worth it if you're in the area. Many tours go that way from Santa Barbara de Samana.

Hi Oskar. I'm also planning to drive from Punta Cana to Sabana del Mar and then get a private tour to enjoy the beauty of los Haistise National Park. I saw you post saying that "We arrived in Sabana del Mar by car and met Moctezuma close to the harbour." How did you get the contact info of Moctezuma and the tour info? Did you stay overnight at Sabana del Mar? If yes, could you share the info of the hotel you stayed? Many thanks in advance for your attention.
