There is great street art all around downtown Kingston. See also the Kingston Creative further south. And it's all free!

We love to visit street art everywhere. We got a tip to go here. It is called "Painted Jamaica".
It is difficult to get the right street to get here, as many roads in this neighbourhood are blocked to get in. Maybe we should have had a guise that had explained us the backgroun of this all. But the art was hopefull. The colours were fading, but still ok for pictures.

The highlight of our day was visiting 41 Fleet Street. Beautiful, inspirational, murals span several blocks, and a yard. This community artist project is uplifting, and shows a sense of pride, and progress for this neighborhood. I see this as must see destination in Kingston. It felt safe and welcoming.

Really cool experience. Nice just to drive down, and look at all the structures, then grab lunch down on the waterfront. you don’t need a tour guide

Beautiful, meaningful street art on a street that used to be struggling with crime and violence but now is changed and full of new initiatives. Get there by taxi, the area is not the safest. Make sure to visit Lifeyard - a Rastafarian-run restaurent on Fleet Street right next to the street art. They have a big, green garden that is currently being turned into a hostel, where you can chill and enjoy fresh juices and I-Tal food 😋

I second all the other reviews. This was a great stop and a place I never would have visited without the reviews. I will say, please go with caution. I don’t know if it was because we were black, we were approached and asked who
we were with and why we were there. Our guide- really a friend of a family member that lives in Jamaica in the area told them we were with him and things were cool after that. The art work is great but was outshined by the kids playing in the court yard- too cute and so appreciative when my husband gave each some money.

Amazing Art project, with a meaning. Bring the positive Vibes into the streets of downtown. Create a stunning zone for kids to play, to spent there afternoons. To teach them. It is not just about the street art, it is about the whole project, with yard, music, art, computer lessons for kids, ital food... If you are in Kingston, come and support this project! You will love it. Big shout out to Sabukie.

My spliff smoking tour guide led us through the vast array of street murals while explaining the Rastafari culture. We'll worth a visit for any kind hearted human being.

Local residents are selling food from small store fronts or even from the homes next to the art on this street. We are impressed, and want to support the non-profit foundation that is supporting this. It is next to a primary school where a foundation is supporting it. Since the neighborhood is typical of the downtown, we did not feel threatened or unsafe, but since as a tourist you want to avoid being a target of theft, I suggest that one not display jewelry or forget to take normal precautions with cameras and valuables. We are often greeted pleasantly by strangers in Kingston, so we feel welcomed and have been treated with courtesy everywhere. I took numerous digital photographs, but TripAdvisor format makes it very difficult to post them here, unless they are edited and converted to .JPG format, so I will leave that to others. Search the internet to see more but TripAdvisor policy prohibits posting URL links here.

We trokken naar Fleetstreet op aanraden van een local. Het was zondag, dus heel rustig onderweg. We reden door het onderste deel van de straat, waar nog niks te zien valt en voelden ons toch niet helemaal op ons gemak. Toen we aan het bovenste deel kwamen, zagen we de eerste beschilderde muren en we parkeerden de wagen aan de oude fabriekshal (niet meer overdekt), waar we uitstapten om alle muurschilderingen rondom ons eens rustig te bekijken. Er waren echt pareltjes bij! Op de straat was er een kunstenaar bezig en hij sprak ons erg vriendelijk aan. Zijn naam was "lifechild". Hij nam ons mee naar de "life Yard", een sociaal buurtproject waar hij aan meewerkte. Er was een moestuin, er werd gekookt voor de straatkinderen uit de buurt, er was een vuurplaats waar rond gebeden werd. We voelden ons zeer welkom en onze interesse werd geapprecieerd. Omdat ik zei dat ik het juweel dat hij droeg erg mooi vond, toonde hij ons zijn collectie en kochten we iets van hem, voor zeer weinig geld. Maar eigenlijk waren deze mensen totaal niet uit op geld of zo. We gaven hen wel een bijdrage voor hun project, waar ze heel blij om waren. Toch mooi dat de plaatselijke jeugd die vaak vroeger zelf op het verkeerde pad terecht gekomen was, zich nu inzet voor een betere toekomst voor hun wijk!
