The chairs are 75 each and you cannot get them until after 1300 because the hotel guests get them first…..even if the chairs are empty when you arrive. Half the beach and ocean was covered in seaweed.

Como o nome diz é uma praia com muitas conchas e com um excelente beach club chamado Shelona(antigo bar du Brasil)

An easy walk through town from the harbor/ship tenders. Not to far to carry a beach bag with towels and drinks/snacks. There is a restaurant adjacent, with some rentable lounges, but we did not bother. Only a few shady spots, you might need to get there early. Can see how it might get crowded since it is small. A few boats did anchor just offshore; they provide a lane for dinghy access to the beach. Easy enough to get into the water; just a little steep. Water of course beautiful, clear, blue, bottom easy on your feet.

The ocean colors are beautiful. But, the shells on the sand hurt feet & the water is deep with many waves. Not a great beach for children.

Lovely beach only a short walk from the town. Bar on the beach and yes as the name suggests the beach totally consists of shells!

One of our favorite beaches on the island. So close to Gustavia yet surprisingly peaceful, idyllic, and uncrowded. It’s an incredible location to enjoy the seaside on your own. The waves are gentle, there’s beaucoup soft sand, a nearby restaurant, and not to overlook the beach’s unique character, there are loads of shells. Not a lot of variety, but you’re unlikely to find such a shell strewn beach elsewhere. This is the perfect spot to mindlessly while away time rummaging through colorful shells.

Amazing place to visit, clear and warm water, just do not forget ... don´t barefoot, shells can be pretty sharp!

They call this beach “She’ll Beach” for a reason. It is literally covered with broken shells. But, it doesn’t hurt you feel since the crushed shells are smoothed down from the water. Found lots of beach glass, too. The water was clear, clean and beautiful. But there is a bit of an incline into the water, which I wasn’t a fan of.

Wer sich in Gustavia aufhält, sollte es nicht versäumen diesen sehr schönen Muschelstrand aufzusuchen. Dieser liegt ca. 10 Minuten Gehzeit vom Pier entfernt und ist frei zugänglich. Ein Restaurant befindet sich ebenfalls dort.

It’s a nice beach but because it’s the closest to the port it’s very busy.
There is a restaurant right facing it and you can rent lounger and umbrella for €70 per person.
It’s not a soft send alone but with lots of shells which explains the name. Calm water

Not to my knowledge. There are many restaurants and other types of boutique shopping in Gustavia but nothing where you can get wine. There is a shop that sells rum and another that sells higher end liquors.

I was at Shell Beach the end of Jan 19. I guess should be glad the chairs were all reserved. I don't think we were the right age or body type. I was in St Maarten to visit my son who is now the captain of that big dark blue ketch in the photo, the 52m (170') "Q"

It seems that the beach is covered in quite large shells. Is there any part of the beach and entry to the sea sandy and, therefore, easy to walk on without shoes? I don't fancy paying $50 for a sunbed but is this for a whole day? I don't mind lying on sand but not on shells.

My too 3 favorite beaches are Salines, Gouverneur and Colombier ..... you will need to bring picnic no restaurants.....

I am planning on taking the Ferry from Oyster Pond and want to know if there is a place to change into and out of swim suits? We would like to shop and then end up at Shell Beach until the Ferry returns.

Yes, there is a bar/ restaurant at the beach whig has restrooms where you can change. It is not a very long walk from the marina, maybe a half mile or so, follow the signs.

I did not see chairs for rent - There are loungers and tables - but owned by the restaurant. I didn't think there was a charge for the chair/loungers but you had to buy food - or champagne etc....and all that is VERY expensive on St. Barth's.
We sat on a big rock and towels under trees for shade - otherwise you were in full sun. A bit iinconvenient - otherwise your choice is a taxi to St. Jean Beach and their rental chairs are about $20 each....plus whatever else you purchase - drinks are very pricey....
