Lovely warm welcome staff very friendly always go above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience. Food is always piping hot good size portions value for money. Large car park. The desserts home made by Paula who also owns Cefn Tearooms all food items homemade.Highly recommend a visit won’t be disappointed.

Really difficult to access, on private land. Did what others advised and parked at golf club. Got a right b*ll*cking told we were a danger, on private land belonging to an Earl and we were lucky not to have been clamped! Welcome to Wales. Bet the Earl is English.

Very welcoming friendly staff fast service varied menu reasonable prices. Stunning views. Outside sitting very comfortable seating area. Would like to mention one particular staff member Nathan who always goes above and beyond to make sure we are served as quickly as possible and the food is hot. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend a visit you won’t be disappointed

It can be quite difficult to find as the ruines are more or less surrounded by golf course.
I parked in morlais Castle golfing Club Park. And headed north across the green, followed the path around the the left and eventually you will see ruins on the right.
I had my two dogs with me, and although I didn't encounter any problems with golfers and club (infact they allow dogs on the ground as long as they are kept on leads) I did feel about awkward to trying to walk the dogs amongst the golfers and their golf balls.
I eventually found the ruines but be aware they are literally just ruines and can barely make out of a castle amongst all the rubbles of rock. The only thing that is remaining intact is the crypt.
I would suggest this walk if you if you are looking for a bit of history or looking for a new walking root but don't expect much regarding the castle.

Nice little walk of you explore the area too - good views.
We visited today as this was near by and wanted somewhere to visit for a short time in the afternoon.
We actually parked at the Molais Castel Golf Club, and went in to ask if they didn’t mind us parking there and visiting the Castle. We parked at the back / top of the car park (recommend back right as to left near the first hole Tee Box).
This is the closest place to be able to get to the castle area. You will need to leave over the first hole and take the cart track, walk right past the next green and then up a little track again, as you come out be mindful as this is a fairway (currently playing right to left as you come out this way) as a golfer I would expect this area to be the landing zone off the Tee so be careful when crossing. Obviously don’t cross over whilst anyone is on the Tee box it may look far but and reasonable golfer will hit to this zone. On the other side you’ll see the castle mound, you can cross over a style there on the other side of the golf fairway.
The cartel area itself, there isn’t really a castle left. Just lots of rocks amongst the bedrock mound. The area is pretty large though and you can walk right round it and on the other side there are some great views. There were free roaming cattle and horses in this area too.
Be mindful that the are is rocky and loose gravel.
To get to the crypt (small room underground) as you cross the style to get to the castle area you need to go straight up to the mound in front of you. There are a couple routes up, if your not too steady on the slopes go left and around slightly as this may be easier for you. When your on the top of that first mound, it has a concrete base, your then standing on top of the crypt, and of you look over you’ll see a pathway down to the doorway.

Park in the golf club and head across the fairways to the castle. Not a difficult walk. The castle itself is just a ruin now but there is one entrance which is not too difficult to find. The views are spectacular from the top

From arrival at a spacious car park to leaving I really liked this course and facilities. The fairways are generous and undulating with challenging greens and potentially tricky pin positions. Lovely views of the surrounding area and the remains of Morlais Castle as well as a very brave and inquisitive Red Kite. The rough is brutal so keep an eye on the ball on any wayward shots. The pro shop is well stocked and a really friendly and helpful staff member made booking in easy.
My playing partner and I had a meal afterwards which was well presented and very tasty , again the staff were friendly and professional.
Definitely recommend for a visit and a return will be on the cards.

Me and my sister had been meaning to visit the castle for a while, and after giving up previously we decided to try for a second time. The route via the golf course is the easiest, but the ruins are so deep in the hills that unless you know exactly where it is it’s best to use GPS on your phone or to have someone who knows exactly where it is to show you. It’s definitely worth seeing though, and it’s amazing how it’s so well hidden! The views from the top are outstanding! There is a bit of climbing involved though, so be aware. Now we know where it is we’ll definitely be visiting again!

Having been down to Porthcawl to play at RPGC, We thought we would take in another golf course on the way home to Herefordshire. Having called around the only one to answer the phone was Morlais Castle. The club pro was warm and friendly, got us a tee time and could not have been more helpful.
The course is a fantastic challenge, especially the front nine which takes you close to the old castle. Some amazing views and some interesting holes.
Afterwards we had lunch at the clubhouse outside, the restaurant is running the Eat Out To Help Out promotion and all our meals were excellent.
We will return and play there again.
