My kids and grandkids loved the tour and would give it a 5 star rating. For me and grandpa, it was too long walking and to much history of Ensenada. You will walk at least 1 mile before you get to the first taco place. I was ready to quit before we got there. After that maybe 15-20 minutes of walking between the other places. I did not make it through the whole tour, once I got on the main shopping street and knew where I was at, me and Papa quit. We missed the candy store and the last taco place which of course would have been my favorite as it was a fish taco. First place was iberria tacos, 2nd place carnita taco, 3rd place your choice of goat, lamb or beef taco, candy store and then the last taco is seafood. My watch said I walked 3.7 miles when I quit. I would not walk to the meeting place either, get a cab to take you there, it is further than you think it is. Even though you can see the big Mexican flag and your meeting place is right by it, just to get to it is quite a walk, I personally would not start off walking that and then having to do the walking tour. The guide was great, the taco experience was great, I just could not hang with the walking plus it was hot when we were there. Take sunscreen! At the 1st taco place try the hibiscus drink, it is way better than you think! If you want a beer or coke with your taco, you have to pay for it. If I could have taking a cab and met everyone at each spot, then the tour would have been perfect for me lol. I guess I wasn't prepared for quite that much walking, but probably most people will enjoy it.

We did Juan More Taco Food Tour in Ensenada today. Our tour guide was Carlos who was excellent. He was born in Ensenada and took us to four excellent taco stops. At our first stop we enjoyed a fried beef taco. Having the beef fried made it a different beef taco from anything we have ever had. The salsa here was also really good with some kick to it. Our second stop was a fish taco or shrimp taco. It was really good with a selection of different sauces. Our third stop was a little store and we tried the chicken mole taco. It was the best mole I have ever had. You could pick from six different ingredients at this stop. The lady behind the counter was the cook and owner. Our last stop was a large restaurant where you could pick from a large selection of different tacos. We had the pork which was another really good taco. We finished the day with a desert which was fried and then filled with your choice of ingredients. We had the chocolate which was delicious. Don't eat before you take this tour because you will want to be hungry when you start. Carlos was fun to spend the time with and gave us a good background and history of Ensanada. Next time we are back in Ensenada we will take this tour again. We highly recommend this tour. Carlos was a great guide.

My initial concern with this company began when I reached out to them to ask about a private tour for the day that our Disney cruise would be in Ensanada. I received no reply. I let some months pass to see if any other food tours were available, but the only options seemed to be ones paired with wine tasting, so I booked the group tour.
Everything about our tour guide, Carlos, suggested that this was his first tour. The instructions said to report 10-15 minutes early to the pick-up location, but Carlos arrived five minutes after the tour’s 10:30 start time. He saved his apologies for the very end of the tour, claiming that his tire blew out on the way to the pick-up location. Maybe that was truthful, but if it was, why did he wait until the very end of the tour to give it? He made me think that he had been considering a plausible explanation over the course of the tour and gave it at the end.
The problem with a walking tour of Ensenada is that some of the best places, or at least the most famous taco stand celebrated by Anthony Bourdain, are not in walking distance from the port. Carlos did not help things by taking us to only two places that had really good tacos, and these happened to be the first two. Even though Ensenada is celebrated for its fish tacos, we went to only one restaurant which even offered them, and of course, that was the best place.
Besides just arriving late, Carlos was ill-equipped as a tour guide in many other aspects. At our first stop, he did not even have the cash ready to pay the bill and had to go to an ATM while we waited. We were a group of 7 in total, four adults and three children, and at the first stop, he ordered four glasses of Jamaica punch only, rather than ordering one for each person. Worse, when I asked him if the water was purified, Carlos replied, “I forget. Is purified the good one?” He then asked the server, who told him that it was, but whether it was the punch or the ice cubes, both my wife and I got a little sick the next day, which we attributed to either the punch or the ice cubes.
Carlos’ next lack of knowledge was when we went to a mediocre stand that specialized in tacos in mole sauce. Carlos asked if we knew what was in mole sauce, and I told him chocolate. He told me that it was a kind of pepper and asked the owner and informed me with real surprise that I was right and that mole sauce was made with chocolate.
Perhaps the most irritating aspect of the tour was Carlos’ instance in using his own phone to take many pictures and even videos of our group. I asked him a couple of times if he could use one of our phones, but he insisted that he would send us the pictures. Would it surprise you at this point to learn that he never did?
If I was going to visit Ensenada again, I would book a guide who actually knows something about food and how has transportation so that he could take us to the best places for tacos, ones beyond walking distance from the port. I certainly would never use Juan More Taco again or recommend it to anyone.

We had a great private tour with Benedicto! This was our second time doing the tour and he made sure we got to try new places. He spent extra time with us and had great knowledge of the area including the plants, history, food, and the best hot sauces!

If there is one cuisine I can’t say no to, it’s Mexican. On the tour, you’ll taste street food as well as eat at the best restaurants in Ensenada. They truly take the guesswork out of the equation. But it’s so much more than your typical city tour. By the end of the 3-hour journey, you’ll have a deeper understanding of Mexico’s history as well as a local perspective on living there. Oh and you’ll definitely eat a lot. And the food is just as delicious as it looks.
Finding the start of the tour was super easy. We met our guide Jazmin at “Fuente Ventana al Mar” (a fountain) just off the boardwalk in downtown Ensenada. If you’re arriving by a cruise ship or staying at one of Ensenada’s downtown hotels, you’re just steps away. The meeting point is in the main port.
After a brief introduction, Jazmin told us about her background and her true passion for food. She explained that food is an extension of culture. And she was drawn to give food tours to share her love and connection to Mexican dishes such as mole.
What is also so great about the tour is that it is different every time. The tour is based off each group’s personal preferences. On our walking tour, we’d be making several several stops and eating at 5 different places.
Jazmin took us to the spots that locals in Ensenada frequent. It felt worlds away from the cruise port, the Starbucks and tequila bars that line the tourist strip.
One of our favorite things to do while traveling internationally is visiting grocery stores. So Jazmin took us inside one that she regularly shops at. We love seeing something so seemingly common as a grocery store — where food staples in one culture may be completely foreign to another. Avocados, which are plentiful in Mexico, cost just cents in Ensenada. I don’t even want to admit how much I’ve paid for one at the Whole Foods in West Hollywood.
And like magic, we returned back to where it all started. It was hard to believe that 3 hours passed. After trying all these spots, I can clearly say that these are some of the best restaurants in Ensenada. In fact, I'm already thinking about my next trip back. I’d 100% do this tour again to uncover even more hidden gems and delve deeper into Mexico’s fascinating history and culture.

Food was amazing. David our guide was super enthusiastic without being annoying. Loved this tour and the taster into local culture. I would say everyone should do this tour to orientate themselves on Day 1 and then know where or what to eat. I wish I had done this at the beginning of my stay.

We were here on a rainy day and our spirits were not particularly high upon arrival. Jasmine found us quickly and our spirits quickly turned as we went from delicious restaurant to delicious restaurant, hearing about the different regions and the cuisines we were tasting, as well as taking us to some very cool restaurants and lovely spaces with local patrons. Jasmine was very helpful with the different food accommodations my mom and I needed, and was super receptive to any requests for additional information that we might have had about culture, geography, or anything else. 100% recommend!!!

My Husband and I did the taco tasting tour while visiting from a cruise ship in Ensenada. We were welcomed by Jasmine (hope I spelled correctly). She asked us our food likes and dislikes. We wanted to be adventurous and his authentic tacos that expressed the culture. We had a fantastic tour and received a lot of information and explored places that we would’ve never found on our own with incredible taste and experience. We highly recommend this to her for those that want to enjoy a small intimate tour.

Wow, so much excellent, authentic Mexican food. Jasmine took us to some fantastic local places in Ensenada that tourists would never find. Each stop was taco heaven and Jasmine was a friendly, engaging, knowledgeable guide. We loved her! Best. Taco. Tuesday. Ever!

My husband and I chose this tour instead of the pre-packaged shore excursions Carnival was offering. We got the authentic food experience, eating where the locals eat and the diversity of food choices was superb.
We ate at four different restaurants and each restaurant featured food from different areas of Mexico-what a treat! We live in Los Angeles so we thought we had eaten our share of traditional Mexican food, but we were blown away by the delicious options on each menu on the tour. To name a few of our taco/gordita choices: octopus, goat, chicharron, picadillo, and mole de pollo. After watching numerous travel shows featuring mole we finally got the chance to try it on this tour. The touristy places don't have it.
One restaurant served up the hands-down best fruit juice I have ever had in my life. I don't even know how many different fruits were in it but it had all different kinds of flavors popping and it was all fresh squeezed and home made. My husband got an oatmeal drink, which sounds puzzling but trust me, it was just as good as the fruit punch and was served with cinnamon.
I enjoyed walking down the streets of Ensenada, especially the side streets where there weren't any other tourists. We saw a shop selling large saint statues, the kind you see in parades and processions. A nearby wall featured a relief sculpture depicting indigenous figures and symbols. It would be interesting to include some of these other cultural elements on the tour in addition to the food, since they were along the way to other restaurants. Also, we walked through the fish market at the end of the tour so a little explanation of the fish market would be interesting.
You definitely get your money's worth on this tour because you are eating constantly. We even got dessert from an ice cream shop at the end of the tour. I highly recommend this tour.
