Took the hop-on hop-off bus to get to the Basilica. Nice grounds and buildings. If you are interested in religious history, this must not be missed. Be prepared to walk up stairs to see the best parts. Snacks and drinks are available.

We attended noon mass. Lots of people. Painting can be viewed when on a moving conveyor to avoid congestion. Lack of mass in English is disappointing.

Meillä oli opas mukana joka kertoi historiasta, voi mennä myös ilman opasta.
Yli 12 miljoonaa ihmistä vierailee Basilica de Santa Mariassa vuosittain. He tulevat katsomaan paikkaa, jossa Neitsyt Marian sanotaan ilmestyneen köyhälle intiaaneille, Jotta saat kaiken irti vierailustasi Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupessa, on tärkeää oppia monien mielestä sen historiasta. Vuonna 1531 väitetään, että köyhä intiaani nimeltä Juan Diego näki näyn Neitsyt Mariasta nykyisellä kirkon paikalla. Hän paljasti viitassaan toisen kuvan Neitsytestä, mikä sai piispan pystyttämään kirkon hänen kunniakseen.

The place is huge and frankly overwhelming. The other three people in m group really enjoyed the museum and the church grounds. Not religious myself, it was okay, but they loved it.
Warning - The bathrooms cost money and they will not have tolite paper - bring your own.

El conjunto arquitectónico de estas 6 iglesias (principalmente la enorme Basílica de Guadalupe) y los jardines, son una gran visita en la ciudad de México, más allá del fervor religioso, ya que contienen historia de hace casi 500 años. La "nueva" plaza mariana es lo menos atractivo, pero las basílicas (la nueva y la vieja muy inclindada), merecen la pena, al igual que los templos del Pocito, el Cerrito, de los Indios y la Parroquia de las Capuchinas, así como los jardines son toda una experiencia.

It is worth the visit. Very nice but couldn't give it a 5 since I've been to St. Peters in Rome and that was the highlight of my trip to Italy.

Beautiful visit with 3 churches. We were only able to visit 2/3 because the third oldest church gate was locked at 6pm. There where fascinating chandeliers at the newer church, spacious meditative space, but opposite style compared to the original cathedral. Lots of foot traffic makes it a bit harder to contemplate. We came late in the day so were unable to grasp the full beauty of this place. For devout Christians, this could be even more magical and enlightening. It was surprising to see the cracks in the ceiling of the old church and from outside the lean of the building. Worth a stop on the way back from Teotihuacan pyramids if you’re able to do that.

Excellent historic place to visit for every travellers to Mexico. The Basilica prayer area is with many nostalgic history.

On the Basilica’s website, I found the contact email to arrange for an English-language tour, and what a great idea that turned out to be! Our guide, Gabriela, gave us a 2-hour private tour of the entire site, which we never would have seen or understood on our own. We didn’t realize that the new, circular building is the Basilica, and that the large baroque church is the old Basilica – or that there are at least 6 other church buildings on the property to see and learn about. The main attraction in the Basilica is a portrait of the Virgin that has survived the centuries and a bombing, but there are a ton of interesting stories behind all the structures, saints, and artwork. The only hard part was finding the meeting point for the tour, amid this enormous complex: it was in the round new Basilica, in a hallway behind the main altar where there are ticket and information booths.

Buenas, tengo una escala de 6 horas, quisiera saber si me da tiempo de visitar la Basilica de Guadalupe

Hola! Te recomiendo que en google maps revises el tiempo estimadod entre el aeropuerto y la basilica, ya que son 2 puntos diferentes y se encuentran un poco lejos, también tienes que tomar en cuestión el tráfico de la Cd, de México, por ejemplo si esta lloviendo, no te recomiendo que vayas, ya que el tráfico se hace al doble. También te queria comentar que la basilica cierra a las 6pm, para que lo tengas en cuenta :)

Hola, por lo general si hace un poco de frío pero nada extremo. Puedes llevar un suéter y ya con eso está perfecto.

Saben si en la entrada se hacen guías para contratar? Y cuanto cobran?
Lo siento, no lo se. Pero es fácil orientarse porque todo está dentro del área de la Basílica. La Basílica también tiene un sitio. Si necesita un taxi en la Ciudad de México, Uber es el más seguro y menos costoso. Solo asegúrese de verificar la identificación del conductor antes de subir al taxi.
Pueden entrar mascotas a la basílica de Guadalupe? En fechas de peregrinaciones?.

Que yo sepa no se puede llevar mascotas, además de no ser el lugar para llevarlas.
