It is a very nice place, the films they show are not those you normally find in the cinema, and the price of admission is super accessible.

The cinematheque offers an alternative to the current cinema, tickets are cheaper, the room and the seats feel more comfortable and spacious.

I came for the first time in my life to see “Perfect Days” with my family (by the way, the movie included a filmed welcome from who I assume is the director, so from there it already felt like a special experience)
The place has a very beautiful design and attention to detail (although with some flaws such as the low ceilings of the “María Felix” bookstore or the low/short and unmarked steps); but it is a very nice space
The movie offering is vast and diverse, and they offer many discounts, including one that I had never seen and that I liked for “under 25s.”
The gastronomic offer is good, but since we were not experts we chose “the terrace” because it was the first place that attracted us, instead of exploring other options
The food there is good and the prices are relatively affordable, but everything feels very prefabricated (like cafeteria food), and I think it could do more without needing radical or very complicated changes.
On the other hand - and speaking of the cinema itself - the room we entered (number 3) had a bad smell at the entrance (a bit like paint, humidity or feet... I don't know, something similar to that)
It is advisable to purchase the tickets in advance since when we bought them (1 hour and 30 minutes before the performance) they were almost sold out and we had to choose ones that were very low and very close to the shore; I think the visibility is good throughout the room, but it would still be better to be able to choose
The space was surprisingly full and alive on a Sunday night, so I imagine that at other more opportune times it must be equally or even more active, so that you can take your considerations.
The parking lot is large but its spaces are very narrow, so you have to maneuver it a little; I recommend using it only if you are going to attend a function because it costs $40 MXN for full time, while otherwise it is quite expensive
the staff didn't necessarily have a very friendly attitude; but that is variable and even a matter of luck... in the restaurant, everyone was helpful and pleasant but at the checkout the guy who served us was quite curt (or a little annoyed) and marked all of us as "general appetizers" before giving him We could ask for special rates and ask for them
I know that it is an independent business and a separate business, but still the guard and the employees of the “María Felix” bookstore were not being so friendly because they looked at you as if you were a thief, very attentive to you (to the point of not being able to chat at ease or feel welcome, even when we do buy a book)
As a general conclusion: yes, I would like to return to the national cinema library; It costs a little less than traditional cinemas but its offering is more interesting and the occasion feels more special
There are small details to improve but in reality they are minimal compared to how pleasant the rest of the experience seemed to me.

Si eres fanático del cine, no te puedes perder este lugar. Preferentemente date el tiempo de ver una película en cartelera para tener la experiencia completa. La cineteca cuenta con librerías, tiendas de artículos de arte y cine, restaurantes, salas de exposiciones, una videoteca con miles de películas digitales disponibles para ver (previa cita), tiene un centro de documentación, y un foro al aire libre. En fin, si son fanáticos del séptimo arte, este es lugar definitivo de CDMX que no te puedes perder.

Es una lástima que un lugar con las mejores películas de cine independiente, cine de autor, esté tan mal manejado.

Su personal de seguridad muy grosero y ya van dos veces, sobre todo con personas adultas, si no quieren pasar una mala experiencia no vayan, hay mejores plazas, cero recomendación.

Como chileno amate del cine, venir a México a visitar su Cineteca Nacional me pareció de lo mejor de todo mi viaje, la verdad es que es un inmueble muy cómodo y su cartelera está impecable, además de que el servicio es muy atento.

Wow! What an absolutely wonderful experience staying here for 5 nights during our honeymoon. Our check-in by Edith was amazing. She was so friendly and helpful. They welcomed us with tequila shots and early check in. The room was awesome and our view of the square was incredible. So happy we stayed here. The breakfast on the roof was delicious, and the mini fridge was included free of charge, as was the Cafe. Loved our stay here.

Mostly yes, when they are in a different language than Spanish, they are subtituled in Spanish, not English
