This is a reasonably/inexpensive open market for souvenirs that give you the “haggling” experience and opportunity to purchase various things to remember your trip. The food within market is great, the only issue is the excessive selling and slight harassing of the merchants

No hay mucha variedad de productos, los precios muy elevados, encuentras mejores productos (recuerdos) en el Mall La Isla o Aeropuerto y a mejores precios

Like others, I was taken by scammers in the tequila shop. Did manage to stick with No in the fake opal store, but really kicking myself for paying 300% mark up on cheap flavored no-brand "tequila" that tasted vile. A reputable Cancun business will advise you of the USD price before concluding the sale in pesos. Instead I was in a no-wifi zone with an exchange converter that had no signal and did not work. My bad, but avoid this place

Es un lugar típico para turistas en cual se venden remeras, tequila, joyas, salsas picantes y mucho más. La recomendación es hacer una vuelta completa y comparar los precios. Vale la pena porque te quieren engañar en muchas partes.

Compré muchas cosas, pasé mucho calor-tengo ochenta años- pero los puesteros eran increibles, nos hacían pasar, sentar, nos daban agua fría. Adorables los mexicanos. Las cosas que compré estaban bien pero había más bellas cosas en el aeropuerto de Cancún, pero como nuestro aviòn llegó 3:40 de la mañana , estaba todo cerrado!.

Oh good grief... Where do I begin? I had a very very hard learning curve and I wish I had done more research. Overall, I got cute items for okay prices but you have to be very strong with negotiating to get their bottom prices. Bring pesos. I felt safe, but travel with a group (people do try to sell you drugs). Also, avoid the Opalo jewelry store and the tequila place next to it. Be extremely skeptical of any jewelry. FYI: The Taxis are given a monetary reward when they drop tourists off in front of the Opalo jewelry store (so tell your driver NOT to do that!). The Opalo store merchants bring you inside and offer you drinks, they also escort you to do Tequila shots next door. I ended up buying a bracelet and ring I fell in love with... I think it was real materials, but I am not yet sure :-/ (you can read other reviews were tourists got very scammed). I also spent way too much on a bottle of tequila by mistake. I consider all of this to be my fault though and a costly learning experience. Otherwise, I had fun browsing the other merchants and buying cute things.

We decided to visit Mercado 28 in search of gifts and souvenirs. There are a ton of little stores but beware of them trying to jack up prices for tourists and be ready to bargain.
We found very good prices for Keychains and coin purses even some personalized. Days later I found out We paid for the tequila Very expensive here.
Overall is a nice place to visit, We ate at one of the restaurants inside Drinks and food were good there was also some mariachis playing inside one of the restaurants.
We took the red public bus From and back to the hotel.

Comparado con los otros mercados de Cancun para mi este es el mejor, no se les ocurra ir al que está en el centro comercial La Isla, es o mismo pero 3 veces más caro, el mejor mercado de artesanías está en el DF,es La Ciudadela con precios a la mitad de lo que piden en cualquiera de Cancun.

Wonderful day of shopping of original mexican crafts and local food. Everything was very clean, excellent treatment specially in the jewelry store and deliciously fish. Don't be missed it!

Hola, buen día! Alguien que haya viajado recientemente a Cancun o Playa del Carmen para orientarme donde comprar artesanias y souvenirs? Vi muchos comentarios que dicen, que ya el Mercado 28 no esta tan bueno como antes...Los leo, gracias

Mercado 28 is good, it is a nice place, and it has restaurants. You can buy plenty of souvenirs and there is a great variety. When staying in Cancun, another place to buy souvenirs is in one of the many spots in the Hotelzone. You pass them with the bus when travelling back and forth in the hotelzone.
Near Playa Tortuga and halfway the hotelzone are plenty of so-called flea markets with plenty of souvenir shops.
When you are staying in Playa del Carmen, you can buy souvenirs on 5th avenue. The large tourist shopping area. Flea market like shops are in most corners and all along the long shopping street, there are smaller shops with gifts and souvenirs.
You cannot miss them. Even in the streets around 5th, you will find souvenir shops.

Ich würde keine Extratour für den Besuch des Marktes buchen. Dieser ist mitten in der Stadt und kann per Auto, Taxi oder mit dem Bus sehr gut erreicht werden. Wir haben auf dem Markt gegessen. Es war sehr lecker.

Is there any paid parking lot or secure parking lot to leave the car? I'm planning to go with my family as soon as we arrive to cancun but we are afraid to leave all our luggage inside the Van and we can not go to the hotel first because is 2 hours away from the market 28. Do you know if there is a secure parking lot around the market?
