Magnificent excursion to see the whale shark. Antonio, Rubi, Tavo and the captain are excellent and friendly professionals. They had great professionalism so we could enjoy as long as possible swimming with the sharks. The delicious food, a delicious ceviche and a delicious fruit. Unforgettable experience and I totally recommend Mundaca Divers. Thanks Rubi, Tavo and Captain Jose!!

Never again. I ended this dive out of air on an emergency ascent on the guide’s alternate air if you don’t want to read the full thesis of issues below.
We booked a night dive one day in advance. They fitted us up with scuba gear and my vest didn’t really fit. The small was too small and their medium was massive. I ended up in the medium. This was problematic because I had to cover the weight belt with the velcro strap and clip straps of the bcd. I wouldn’t be able to quickly get to my weight belt if needed. I am newly open certified and not confident yet and didn’t realize how risky this was until after the dive.
Then the dive briefing started and Ruby (who is sweet as pie but that might be a problem) said our safety level for tanks was 500psi but if we saw something interesting we could keep going until 300. This should have thrown red flags but our group of three went with it.
We started the night dive well before full sunset and all was well with cool creatures as the sun set. I signaled 1000psi, then later 500. At 500 we kept going. I was confused what was happening. I signaled at 300. Nothing, the guide kept the group going. I was super stressed at this point and had fallen to the back of the group struggling to signal or keep up. At 100psi, I managed to signal by waving the flashlight on the sea floor and myself that I was having problems. I finally caught up to the guide and shoved my gauge in her face. She checked my gauge and immediately handed me her yellow backup regulator and we emergency ascended. I had just enough air to inflate my bcd and the tank showed empty. The other two divers in our group also ascended without a safety stop, thinking I had had an equipment malfunction. We had been down 1 hour 10 minutes. Fortunately it was only 27’. Once on the boat the guide didn’t say anything. All happiness about a great dive. I told my two colleagues what had happened and they were pissed. Both are advanced trained with 50+ dives.
I will never use this shop again. The guide ignored multiple basics - 500 psi is already a risky stop and should not be planned to be exceeded, I am new and should not have been so far from her, we had been down over an hour and newbies don’t typically last that long, I had signaled my air but if there was any confusion or doubt she didn’t check it, and I was falling behind. Cool turtles aren’t worth running out of air or risking a newly certified (dive 3 post OW certificate) diver even getting close. Next time I now know better and will just signal my colleagues at 1000psi (the normal psi start ascent for these dives on the island) and we will ascend, with or without the guide’s agreement.

The treatment by the staff is 100% friendly and professional, if it is your first time, the guide accompanies you at all times to make your dive as pleasant and fun, you will surely return to repeat the experience, the places to which you dive great, the first is for you to get acquainted with the diving equipment, the other two, are the underwater museum MUSA and the reef stains, the accessible cost and excellent price ratio, even if you did not plan to dive is your best option, since they have all the equipment you need for your dive, and lend it to you at no extra cost, if you are interested in knowing this fascinating world of diving, I think your first step is here, 100% recommend this place and if you have to guide Rubi, much more,

Worst diving experience ever. Would not recommend. The sea is lovely. BUT - We didn't feel very safe and that he divers was respectful of the corals or attentive to us under the dive. The owner had a bad attitude - go with your gut and chose other options for diving. We definitely regretted diving here.

Mundaca Divers proved to be the only responsive dive shop in Isla
Mujeres after I reached out to four different ones via email. Their
prompt reply and willingness to assist me with my diving needs made them
stand out from the rest. I highly recommend Mundaca Divers as the go-to
dive shop for anyone visiting Isla Mujeres. Antonio, the owner, along
with Silvana, the dive master and instructor, have triumphed in this
dive. Their expertise and passion for diving have allowed them to
explore the underwater world with ease and grace.
I had the most amazing experience diving the Musa and Manchones Reef on
my last trip to Isla Mujeres. I can't wait to go back and dive with
Mundaca Divers next time. Their team of professionals made me feel safe
and confident underwater, and I know they will provide me with an
unforgettable diving adventure again.

Our family of 4 went out to scuba dive with Ruby, Mario and crew. They were great! Very kind and knowledgeable. We were able to dive MUSA and a reef were we saw a lot of sea life. Our favorite was MUSA. Would definitely recommend diving with them if you are in Isla!

Hi, I've been diving with you before, but I can't remember - do I need to bring my own mask and fins or can I rent everything I need from you. In the US, you need your own mask, snorkel, fins, but I'm trying to travel with only a carry on if possible.

hi! Don't worry about that, we provide you the full scuba diving gear. Just enjoy!

Jens

Hi there.
Four of us are staying in Cancun from March 20-27 and are planning a day trip to Isla Mujeres. Two of us would be interested in snorkelling, but don't want it to eat up the whole day...we're thinking maybe a couple of hours total at most sot that we still have plenty of time to explore the island and take in some of the other sights. So just a few questions for you to help us plan!
How long are the snorkel-only tours, and where do they go? Can you go right from shore, or is a boat required? Are they on a reef, or do they go to the underwater museum? (My friend would like to see the statues, but I've read that unless you are on SCUBA it's not worth doing...I actually dove in the museum a couple of years ago, but while it was a shallow dive, I seem to remember thinking it would be too deep for an average snorkeller...would you say that's accurate?) Finally, do you know what the price is for the snorkel tours?
Our plan is to take the first ferry from Cancun over in the morning, then catch the one going back to Cancun late afternoon (I think it's around 6pm?). Any other suggestions for a day trip like this?
We've been to Mexico several times, but never visited Isla Mujeres before, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Chris
