‪Nice family friendly place‬
سبتمبر 2021
‪We went to walk the small nature trail and take in some sites. We missed the guided tour, but were easily able to guide ourselves down the well marked trails. There is an easy trail and several other more difficult trails if you really want a workout. The staff was super friendly and informative.‬

‪Night hike at the Vail nature Center‬
زوجان • سبتمبر 2021
‪Katie W was awesome. Told us some Native American stories about the creation of the constellations. We used to sky chart for the first time. And actually saw part of the Milky Way. Beautiful night. Bring a jacket or a blanket if you want to lie down and look up at the sky.‬

‪Back yard Treasures‬
يوليو 2021
‪I've participated in four backyard back country hikes so far this summer (2021), with a few more coming in the fall. I've lived in the valley for 10 years and have learned more through WMSC outings about the abundant life around us here than on any other guided hikes.
Lindsey had only been in the valley a week before leading a wildflower identification hike, and her comprehensive knowledge of this area was stunning. So was her manner of teaching and conveying simple identification techniques. She didn't try to overwhelm us with too much information and likewise she didn't make the information superficial.
Nathan's appreciation of wild places and the small biological inhabitants is infectious. He conveys enough information to inspire you to explore more.‬

‪Neils did great job with our group, interesting & beautiful natural environment‬
يوليو 2021
‪We did a (free) guided nature walk on a Sunday morning in July from the Vail Farmers Market (we started from the booth of the Walking Mountains Science Center) to the Vail Nature Center. We were very excited as we had a 5-year-old in our group and wanted to show him the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. The tour was oriented towards children.

We were not disappointed. Our guide, Neils, did a great job. We walked through Vail Village and saw some of the (crowded) local sights, including the statue of the soldier from the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale. We then walked outside of town to the Vail Nature Center, which was, fortunately, much less crowded. This is a hike of about 1 hour, though I think we took longer because of the toddler.

We had a nice conversation with Neils as we walked. He was open to questions and provided lots of information. We enjoyed learning about the wildflowers, the streams, and some of the local Vail culture. There is a lot of pressure on the local environment due to the number of people in the Vail area, and we were interested to hear about all of the environmental issues. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone interested in nature and, next time we are in Vail, will try to do this walk again.‬

‪Great Experience @ Walking Mountains Science Center‬
يوليو 2021
‪We took a free tour led by Katie. She was very knowledgeable about the local plants despite being in the area for a relatively short time. The tour took about an hour and included both children and adults. It was educational for both adults and children. The Science Center is worth your time and is very educational regarding earth history, the environment and the interconnected nature of our natural world.‬

‪Fabulous Hike with Musicians‬
يوليو 2021
‪We went to the evening hike with the Runaway Grooms for a Science & Music event that was fabulous. Nathan the group leader was amazing thoughtful about the symbiotic relationship between listening to nature to produce music. The Runaway Grooms made three movements of music impromptu based on what they heard in nature. That was amazing & beautiful to listen to while resting on the hike. I highly recommend this event if it is offered again.

The Runaway Grooms are a group of guitars, piano & drum that were carried on the hike in the rain. Then at the top they gave a 45 min. concert of their music while we ate our picnic dinner. Amazing to be on the top of a mountain listening to quality music watching the sunset.‬

‪Nice trails, a few exhibits and friendly staff‬
مايو 2021
‪This FREE little community resource offers two very easy hiking loops and also a longer and steep trail up to the ridge, as well as a few signs along the loops and some nice little exhibits and clean restrooms in the buiilding and picnic tables outside but in the shade. The staff member was super nice...this is a good place to stop for an hour or so.‬

‪Great nature hike‬
بمفردك • أغسطس 2020
‪After seeing an ad in the Vail Daily, I signed up for a Walking Mountains free hike. I have since participated in two more and each one has been a delight. There are no trails into the mountains without at least a moderate increase in elevation but our guide was patient when needed and the pace was acceptable for me in my later 60’s. I discovered new trails, met many interesting people - both local and tourists, and greatly appreciated our guide who taught us so much about the science behind the beautiful nature that surrounds us.‬
