breakfast was good, but toast etc had to pay extra, coffee little cold. Staff extremely friendly and lovely

I have given Hive Beach 5 stars which it fully deserves, which is why on Bank Holiday Monday (2nd January 2023) we decided to visit. When we got there we couldn't stay as car park was full. We were disappointed, as were, I suspect, the stream of cars behind us.We then tried Cogden Beach and Abbotsbury Beach but small car parks were full, which was expected, so we returned home to Axminster. I was saddened by the fact that although the National Trust close the overflow car parks in the winter for the grass to revive, I don't think being open the 1st and 2nd of January would have created any problems, and would earned the NT a lot of money through car parking charges, judging by the amount of visitors Hive Beach could have had if parking had have been available.

We have visited the Hive Beach many times, the sea food is excellent. The service is also very good with well trained and nice staff

This has a National Trust Car Park which if you are a member it is free to park.
There is a cafe and a shop as well as a National Trust place to. There are toilets here as well.
This is an amazing beach with a lot to look at and explore. If you are lucky you may find some fossils to. Be careful near the cliffs as they are unstable.
This is a Dog friendly beach. There are also some wonderful walks above the cliff with a lot of wild life to see.
The cliffs are interesting to look at. There are also Picnic tables near the beach to use.
On the walk above the cliffs there are some benches to sit on.

It was September so not height of season. There is a small national trust car park right next to the beach, this was extended into an overflow car park. The charges were reasonable. Can pay with cash or mobile app.
The beach looked clean and I think you could walk all the way to West Bay so a good length.

Luckily for us free parking as National Trust members - probably gets very busy at height of the season.
Beach itself looked clean and safe - lots of families enjoying late summer sun.
Plenty of good walks in the area and the nearby Hive Beach cafe offers a wide range of food and drinks with a large seating area overlooking the coast and sea.

How to plummet the depths of crab sandwiches the hive have actually achieved this.
Please charge the price necessary to improve this poor offering.
If I had wanted a shiphams paste sandwich I would have ordered one.
The bread was one step from being stale dry no moisture at all the crab was bright orange with occasional fleck of white meat a total disappointment from what was expected.
The only high point was the garnish of coleslaw and dressed salad
Please give your chef/cook some training or send them Rachels to see a quality product

Wow ,so pleased we found this lovely beach area ,it’s amazing it’s huge with amazing cliffs ,there’s plenty of parking and the Hive Cafe overlooking the beach ,popular place but not overcrowded

This beach never fails. Went there with my mother years ago and it was much quieter back then but parking was still a breeze, excellent helpful men in hi-viz vests easing you in to your spot in the field. Visited with my 2 children and 79 year old mother. Needed coins for the parking meter, £6 for 4 hours, £8 all day. Lentil sized shingle but as you go nearer the water this becomes finer. The cafe was great, lovely young adults, smiley, food expensive but so what, you’re on holiday, these people have a seasonal business and covid was hard for them. The quality is excellent and ours came very quickly. Excellent double espresso. The sea was warm and super clear. My favorite beach in the area for purist beach stuff. One quick mention is the shop in Charmouth. It is brilliant! Stopped there for a Sunday Times on the way through. Charming man at the till, it is also a hardware store and sells EVERYTHING you need for the beach, a shop you don’t see very often any more.

A good sized NT car park is helpful as I can imagine this little gem gets very busy in the summer months. A lovely clean beach with amazing views along the coast and a cafe and toilets too. Great place to spend some time relaxing

There's parking available. Be aware the lanes to the beach are narrow and there aren't many passing places.

Very dog freindly. Hopefully the dog owners are as peoplle friendly as the beach is dog friendly. We took our sadly departed ogs many times to this beautiful beach and always a pleasure. Good to have a up of tea and a cake after a stroll along the beach.

It's a £1 per hour and over so many hours and I think over 4-5 hours it becomes cheaper.
There is also a National Trust car park (on the left), where if you are a member, you'll be able to park for free.

Are dogs allowed on Hive beach?

Hive Beach is dog friendly but you must keep it under control and clean up behind it of course. From 1st June to the end of September restrictions do apply, but dogs are welcome on at least part of the beach all year round. You must check the signage at the beach.
