This place is amazing! We made a day of it and had lunch at Seasons afterwards and it was such a memorable, fun day. I’ve been to Vancouver so many times and had never visited the conservatory before. My mom and I went and had a lovely time. I will definitely be back with my children next time we’re in town! Very inexpensive too.

Enjoyed touring the conservatory. Had fun trying to locate all the varieties of birds. Lots to take pictures of.

Good place to visit (if you are visiting queen Elisabeth park). There are interesting birds and plants but not too much species. Tbh, its a bit small but, as the ticket was ~$7.50 each for adults, I think it is worth the visiting (we spent 20-25 minutes inside). The only downside was the apparent mice infestation (we saw at least 10 walking around). I hope the administration takes care of that since (I believe) it may bring diseases to the birds and even to the visitors.

Восхищение и восторг от коллекции растений. Оформление сада, дизайн на таком небольшом пространстве вмешает такую большую коллекцию растений, а наличие ещё и тропических птиц делает атмосферу в саду особенной и невероятной. Очень рекомендуем всем для посещения .

Love it here for a quick walk around before exploring the rest of the park. The whole thing takes 30ish minutes to slowly walk through and take pictures but maybe an hour if you really take your time.

Totally worth a visit. Located in the Queen Elizabeth Gardens the conservatory is an inexpensive experience that is fun for visitors of all ages. The birds are fantastic to watch with stunning colors and behaviors. The visit takes approximately one hour and should be combined with the visit of the Queen Elizabeth park.

Really beautiful tropical plants and stunning birds - an absolutely lovely place to spend an hour or two. Our favourite was Art, the blue and gold macaw

I came across this Conservatory while exploring Queen Elizabeth Park. Although I had no plans to visit this dome structure, I am glad that I did as I discovered a brilliant world inside filled with tropical birds and vegetation.
Though modest in size, the captivating sights and sounds are worth the price of admission. A must see for those who are interested in exotic birds and lush greenery.

Lovely idea to keep so much in one place. This small domed structure has some fascinating plants and small birds. It is surprisingly compact once you get inside. Certainly very small for an aviary.
The experience was marred by observing the way the larger birds were kept tethered or perched in their specific place. They all seemed depressed and listless and none of them was flying around.
I heard another visitor ask whether these larger birds had been 'trained' to remain on their respective perches. The staff member replied that all the larger birds had had their flight feathers clipped.
How dismal - what a cruel way to treat such beautiful birds.
They are surrounded by smaller birds that fly to and fro.
Not the best way to keep any bird that likely wants to take to the air.
A great concept, housed in too small a building and marred by harsh practices. Shame.

Hi Diana. Thank you for the feedback. Please note that all of our birds are rescued/donated to us so we can provide them with a better home. Most birds were previously pets and had their wings clipped before being donated to us. This is also for the safety of both the birds and members of the public. We will pass on your comments to management.

What temperature range is maintained inside? Visitor with temperature sensitivity needs to know. Thanks.

The temperature inside the conservatory is between 18 to 25 Celsius with fairly high humidity.

I agree that the Canada Line is a very efficient way of getting to the Conservatory. But so much depends on what your starting point is: downtown, Airport, Richmond. The transit system has a brilliant web site that helps you plan your travel, with maps and schedules. The trip planner lets you enter your starting point and the Bloedel as the destination. The TransLink site will answer most of your other questions about getting around.

Let us differentiate between dogs in Queen Elizabeth Park, the area where the Conservatory is located, and the Conservatory itself. There is a note on the Vancouver parks web site to the effect that dogs are welcome in the park as long as they are on a leash and as long as the owner picks up after his or her dog. I remember seeing dogs in the park as we went in to the Conservatory site. However, I suspect that small animals of any kind are not admitted to the Conservatory, if only because of the potential that an excited animal might scare the resident birds. This is a question that you should ask, by phone, of the Conservatory staff. I would expect an answer in the negative.

How do we get to the conservatory from downtown (Burrard St)? Is there public transit?

Yes. You can get there on the sky train (our subway). You can get off at the King Edward station and then either walk (it's a bit of a hike. Maybe 1 km?) or take the 15 bus. There's a park and a restaurant up there too so you can stay for a few hours and make it worth the little trip.

We parked in the parking lot on top near the coservatory. An easy 5-10 minutes stroll to the ebtrance. Enjoy!
Do they accept American money and if not do they accept Credit Cards?
