We are on a road trip with our rescue dog, which have serious separation anxiety issue. This is his first trip and he is very happy all the time until this ferry ride. They do not allow dogs to be inside the ferry, they can only stay inside of the car. They also don’t allow owner to be inside the car during the ride, so I’m forced to leave him alone. The boat is basically empty with very few passengers. We asked many staff for help and wish them can let us sit in a corner quietly, but all of them gave us a hard NO in a rude way. I was so worried and I cried on the boat, and my poor dog peeped himself because he is so scare alone ( HE NEVER PEEP INSIDE).

Awesome to go out on the stern and look for whales during our trip from Saint Johns, NB to Digby, NS. Great vessel and the staff were polite.

We have a lot of experience with the Alaska ferries and the ferry from Saint John to Digby was very impressive. The ship was much nicer than what we are used to with lots of room to move around and plenty of comfortable seating. There are multiple places to get food and beverage, even an espresso drink. I thought the prices were very reasonable, comparable to what you'd pay in town. Boarding was super easy and staff friendly. We were totally impressed.

Great experience. Took our car over from Saint John to Digby. Arrived an hour before our 2:15pm departure and they started “loading us” around 1:40pm. The boat was clean and very nice inside. I was worried about a musty smell, but there was no such odour! The staff were sweet - the lovely lady at the information desk who helped me with my trip and gave me good tips. Disembarking was very quick - we were out of there just before 5pm!

Efficient check-in, comfy boat with strong Wi-Fi.
We crossed from Digby to St John. Surprised that there were no facilities at all at Digby.
It was cold and misty outside, even colder inside with fierce aircon.
The ship was showing its age, very rusty in parts, but as there’s apparently just one vessel going backwards and forwards on the route, not sure what they can do about it. The photos they put up on here must be years old.
Some musical entertainment on the ship passed the time.
We crossed from Digby to St John. Surprised that there were no facilities at all at Digby.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We have terminals in both Saint John, NB and Digby, NS. We are sorry to hear you were cold onboard, it is usually quite comfortable. Our vessels are very well maintained, you may have noticed that the saltwater and air has caused some discolouration, regular maintenance is to paint every year. The photos are recent and updated. We have music everyday in July and August. We also have Stonehammer Geo Park and Fundy UNESCO Biosphere onboard everyday in July and August, interpreting the Bay of Fundy (we have been doing this for 16years now and its a very popular program). We hope to welcome you back onboard again soon.

It was too foggy for a great view, but enjoyed the ride. We've sailed on BC Ferries many times. The St John Bay Ferries experience was totally different. Much more spacious and comfortable seating and way fewer passengers. An interesting change from what we're used to. Service was very friendly.

This "ferry ride" felt more like a cruise! Seating is very comfortable. Musical entertainment was available, and you could watch one of 2 movies (one was Luca). Good food and drink options available. Not cheap, but a great way to travel and take your car on board as well!

Very pleased with our first crossing on the Fundy Rose ferry between Digby and Saint John.
For those with mobility issues, the elevator and escalator were a welcome find getting from the vehicle deck to the main deck.
There are plenty of seating areas too, which we appreciated. Not everyone wanted to listen or see the family oriented movie in the theater area, so you could sit up front in front of large picture windows to watch the sea, and there are cozy conversation areas everywhere.
There was a coffee shop on board, which was extremely popular, with those looking for coffee, lattes, etc. The main restaurant is called Tides and Valleys. The prices were fairly reasonable and the food was not bad. We have certainly had worse on land!
There was live entertainment, a Cape Breton fiddler which was pleasant to listen to.
We would not hesitate to take this ferry again.
It sure beats the long drive. With the price of gas, it was nice to arrive in Saint John with a full tank of gas, and feeling refreshed from not having to drive 8 hours.

Really enjoyed using the ferry between Digby NS and Saint John NB...very comfortable trip . They have so many options for comfortable seating, or for standing on deck to enjoy the day outside). I ate on board ship for both trips and the food was pretty tasty and plentiful (Fries are excellent, burger was also good, my friends enjoyed their paninis. (Fish & chips? well, as a Maritimer, I know many a place with better, without intending offence). We enjoyed the broad range of movie options (family movies as well as general movies, and the very comfy movie chairs. The whole process of getting reservations and boarding was very simple.

Recently took my first trip on this ferry. It was very enjoyable! Staff was very professional, and they were very accommodating of my wife's disability. We noticed that the whole process of loading vehicles onto the ferry was run like a well oiled machine. Breakfast was decent. I would definitely go on this ferry again!

We are planning to go from Digby to St. John on the ferry round trip same day. How long is the layover in St. John and what is there to do nearby.? Should we get a cab into town? We won’t have a car.

If you are coming from Digby, there is no "layover" as such from what I can see of the schedule. There is only 2 crossings a day. Leaving Digby at 11 you get to SJ by 130.. and it departs again at 215. There is a sort of layover going the other way, if you leave SJ on the 8 am ferry, it arrives in Digby at 1030 and there is a crossing back at 530 pm. There are probably tourist shuttles in Digby, in SJ you would have to call a cab, we have no Uber and the ferry terminal is located in a completely residential area that is probably a 45 min walk to the nearest small mall

It’s possible but unlikely from my experience. I have taken the trip dozens of times and haven’t seen any. There are plenty of magnificent whales in the Bay but I recommend a whale watching tour, either from Briar Island near Digby or from St. Andrew’s NB.
