While most people think of municipal services when discussing City Hall, what I like best when coming here are the cool sculptures, memorials, and other works of art that one can find around the building. Though some people may find this description a bit strange, for me, City Hall is like an open air museum that you can visit for free.

Not just a place where locals pay their taxes or a Bank Holiday venue for a ribfest, Ottawa City Hall Is also home to a number of art galleries. Right next to the Karsh Masson currently exhibiting a quartet of artists under the implausible umbrella of a fractured utopia, is the City Hall Gallery. Its current offering is the literally more substantial sculptures and paintings of Doug Dumais and Simon Petepice in an exhibition of Intangible Materials. No petite pieces these but robust pieces in silver evoking church windows; solid stone chairs; chunky artefacts.

Il complesso del City Hall è costituito da due edifici collegati. L'ala moderna, che funge da sezione principale del Municipio, è stata progettata da Raymond Moriyama e costruita nel 1990 e non brilla per originalità architettonica. L'ala vecchia risale invece al 1875 ed era precedentemente una scuola. Da vedere di passaggio andando magari al parco della Confederazione. Maggio 2019.

Enjoyed the use of the facility - two days of meetings. The exterior was animated with crowds, an outdoor skating rink, food services and more. The main lobby was vibrant- busy and open to the public..art galleries, displays and more. Well done

This is one of two buildings housing the government for the Ottawa-Carleton region, a huge modern concrete Édifice designed by a Japanese architect Raymond Moriyama and which opened in 1990 on the site of the former parade ground for the adjoining drill hall. The other building is a nineteenth century edifice on Elgin Street opposite. This modern building not only houses the Council Chamber but also a large number of offices and public services, but also no fewer than three exhibition spaces, one showing a sculpture of a hill for bees; the second Canadian history in postcards. The atrium is home to some native people’s sculptures; the plaza outside is used for music festivals but this holiday weekend a festival celebrating the eating of ribs.

Great location for taking your kids (or Yourself) around for playing Pokemon GO. Easy to walk around and admire the art.

When you travel I highly suggest always making time to visit your nearest City Hall or Council Chambers - always a hub of local history, artefacts - and always a good map!
At the City Hall for Ottawa - Canada's Capital! You will be treated to many awesome viewings, whether it be the art gallery, a 1,600 square foot space that is always home to great work through the City of Ottawa Public Art Program. Sport your thing? -- the Ottawa Sports Hall of fame is home to great nostalgia of the City.
BUT, the real treat is the piano in the lobby. An open piano for visitors to stop and... receiving the KEYS to the City. Grab a coffee or tea, make your way over and take a seat as you watch the people go by, play? Please leave a tune out there for others - - If you are lucky you will also see a few weddings too!
Take the time, might not strike you as your typical tourist destination, but a great place to get a sense of all that makes up Ottawa!

There is stuff to do at Ottawa City Hall! In the winter there is a skating rink, and a Beavertail stand, and inside are (small) exhibits, and a piano. Best of all, it is open for some heat or cooling depending on the season.

Die City Hall (Rathaus), besteht aus zwei verbundenen Gebäuden. Dem alten Flügel aus dem 19. Jahrhundert an der Elgin Street, der uns gefallen hat. Der moderne Teil an der Laurier Avenue ist nicht so unser Fall.

Die ganze Stadt ist ein Traum, und dieser Ort trägt dazu bei. Man kann hier den ganzen Tag verbringen und es beeindruckt unentwegt. Diese Stadt ist ein Besuch wert, nicht zuletzt wegen solcher Einrichtungen. Man fühlt sich als Besuch geschätzt.
