Wir sind zufällig vorbei gekommen und fanden die Terrasse ansprechend. Die Bedienung war freundlich und unser Essen (Fish und Chips, Burger und Sandwich) hat uns geschmeckt.

Very good fish and chips, huge portions, Good selection of draught ales and cider. Nice beer garden and live music.

Eten is echt lekker! Heerlijk flatbread, goede wraps en overheerlijke salade dit onder het genot van een biertje. Keuze genoeg. Bediening is traag maar eten het wachten waard. Blonde dame oogt niet echt gezellig :-)

Service was pretty terrible. Had to seat ourselves,get our own menus and cutlery. After the order was taken and dropped off we weren’t checked on. I had to track my server down to pay my bill. Other than that the food wasn’t great either. We got nachos and 2 drinks. It came to 50$ which definitely wasn’t worth it....
Within minutes of leaving, both my boyfriend and I needed to use the facilities....

We are west coasters, and we feel we found the town secret at the Earl of Sussex! We had gone to the Market the night before, and found it very busy. This pub was in a good location, across from the National Gallery. The service was polite, fast and professional. The food was great! We had the chicken wrap with a side of perfect fries. Also, an apple pecan salad that had the right amount of dressing, nice and light. The white wine was cold, so was the beer! This gave us a memorable, fun evening out! Recommended!

The entrance was inviting as we walked by and decided it looked like a neat place to have lunch. We were not disappointed! The waitress was very friendly and the food was better than average. The Angus Burger was cooked perfectly for me and my wife had a tasty Chicken and Apple Salad. Glad we stopped by!!

Surprised by the relatively few TA reviews of the Earl of Sussex. It's a great spot for a beer especially when the patio is open and the sun is shining! I guess it's one of those places that the locals want to keep for themselves.
Well, as a local, I stopped by the Earl for a beer and some seafood chowder the other night. Really friendly, attentive service from the bartender who was doing it all that night - taking drink orders, taking food orders, serving and cleaning up. He was great!
It's really one of those places where the food is consistently good and the service is great! If you're visiting the 'Byward 'Market'in Ottawa, you really should stroll along the street across from the National Gallery and check this place out. It's near the Market but just on the edge and far enough away to enjoy a place that feels like a friendly pub and not such a touristy spot.

Was recommended to this place for fish-n-chips. Liked the food, ambience and the service. Ally was excellent in ensuring all customers were taken care of. Would definitely recommend.

Right downtown Ottawa, 2 step away from the market next to the US embassy. Nice and welcoming atmosphere at lunch time. Service was excellent, waitress took good care of us. I ordered the clam chowder with the pulled pork sandwich. The chowder was good, nice and warm, texture was good, not the best I ever had, but very good for Ottawa (Ottawa has issues with Clam Chowder, impossible to find an excellent one). The sandwich was nice and warm too, the pulled pork was very good. This place has a lot of different beers, but sorry I do not drink, the selection is impressive.
I walk there, but I think it could be hard to find parking around there, the market is 3 minutes walk from there and there is plenty of parking around the market. We were a group of 9, and every one was happy with their choices. The prices, I find, are a little high but it's down town Ottawa, so the prices are well situated in the general average. I will definitely go back with my wife soon. The variety of the menu is making this place good for the whole family. I definitely recommend this place to everyone... Sorry I did not try the desserts, I will next time...

Late evening dinner choice. Quickly greeted and asked if we wanted to sit inside or on the patio. Our choice of the patio because it was a bit cool that evening.
Quickly provided a table inside and served by a gentleman managing the bar. His service was great and provided advise on many of items on the menu.
Had the seafood chowder and chicken pot pie. We were happy with our choice.
