‪Amazing day trekking the Scarlet Macaws‬
ديسمبر 2019
‪We just returned from our annual trip to Belize, and I am so happy we were able to spend one of those days with Raul. We met as planned on-time, and made the hike to the viewing areas. The hike is fairly steep in some spots, so be sure to wear tennis shoes or hiking shoes, and be sure to bring bug spray and water. Raul pointed out different birds and plants along the hike, and gave us a thorough history of the conservation efforts of the area, including the educational and environmental plans to discourage the killing of these beautiful birds and the illegal knocking down of trees in the reserve. We were lucky to find a flock of about 30 happy, noisy scarlet macaws. You will hear them before you see them, and it was stunning to see them in the wild. After a couple of hours we went back into Red Bank and floated down the Swayze (spelling?) River and saw more scarlet macaws. Raul was really great in knowing where the birds might be, and since he also trained with the Audubon Society, he pointed out other types of birds, as well as some of the bird sounds we heard while walking in the forest. It was a memorable, fun day, and it makes me happy that the flock is starting to rebound, thanks to efforts of Raul and other people who care about the ecosystem.‬

‪We had a fantastic afternoon together with Raul who went out of his way to show us the Scarlet Macaws. We were able to observe about 10-20 of them for more than 20 minutes. What a magical experience! I can highly recommend the tour and Raul if in Belize.‬

‪Zip line/caves‬
العائلة • مايو 2019
‪You’ve got to hear our story regarding Raul!! One week ago today we were in Belize and Alex was our guide. He picked us up from the port and took us out for zip lining and cave tubing. Which by the way was amazing! We had an hour ride back to the port that afternoon and after we were on the boat sailing off, my daughter realized she had lost her IPHONE 7 in Belize. I immediately looked up the phone number on my email confirmation and guest services on carnival called it for me and I reached Raul. He Went to the van that we had rode in, looked for the phone and found it and even went to the post office to try to mail it to me. They would not take it because of the battery’s So then he went out of his way to find a friend who was coming to the United States and gave it to her, she flew into the United States this weekend and mailed it to me through UPS within the states and it arrived today. That is an absolute miracle! One week ago today we were leaving Belize without a phone and today we have it in our hands!!! WOW!! Raul went above and beyond to help us out and we are forever grateful!! Shout out to his friend Shari that shipped it to us from Within the US! Neither of them had to go out of the way the way they did, but they chose to help us, this is unusual nowadays! Thank you thank you thank you!‬

‪Great Birding and Macaws in red bank‬
العائلة • ديسمبر 2018
‪We visited Belize in December and we were determined to do some birding with the possibility to see macaws and toucans in red bank. Raul is rated as the top guide to see the macaws in red bank and lucky for us, it was an early season. We found Raul on trip advisor and he was prompt in relaying. We were given clear instructions to the meeting point. We left Hopkins around 5:40am to be in red bank at 6:30am. With great luck and expert guide we managed to get the majestic macaws feeding on the fruits along the mountains of this Maya village. After spotting the macaws We headed over to other trails for more birding. We didn't expect to see a lot but Raul made it very easy for us as he knows exactly where to find the birds. To our surprise, we also spotted toucans, trogons, king vultures, white Hawks, manakins, parrots and many others. The trip to red bank was probably the highlight of our visit to Belize. We highly recommend a visit to red bank even if you are not a birder. Contact Raul at tecraul22@gmail.com‬

‪Scarlet Macaw Tour With Raul‬

‪Magnificent! Macaws in the wild!
We couldn't believe we could get to them very close but our expert guide took us on a hike where we got to see them in flight and perched. Unbelievable. I am speechless. Great job Raul. Well done. The load of knowledge that Raul has to offer give this tour an unforgettable one. Way to go. If you come in the morning, bring snacks, water, inspect repellent and practical footwear, be prepared to hike. We also had the privilege to swim in the refreshing pools of a jungle river. Spectacular views. Thanks again Raul for a wonderful experience‬

‪Great macaw experience‬

‪I booked a last minute visit to Red Bank with Raul Tec. He was very efficient and replied immediately and gave me clear instructions on how to get to his house in Red Bank. He can also collect guests at an additional cost. The tour was great and within 30 minutes of leaving his house (after a short drive) we saw our first macaws. We had better, clearer sightings later on and saw large groups feeding and flying from one area to another. Would thoroughly recommend the trip. Raul is a great guide with local knowledge and speaks English or Spanish.‬

‪We met at 2:30 and headed to see Macaws. On the way while walking we saw 2 toucans. We climb the steep (but short) hill and started looking for Macaws. Raul is an expert and by listening to them feeding he took us to a place we could watch them. And it was great! We saw few of them in few different places. Raul is very nice and knowledgeable.‬

‪Scarlet macaws in the wild‬
العائلة • فبراير 2018
‪Red bank village is a hotspot for birding, anyone wanting to see the scarlet Macaws this is the place to go also. We search for guide on the internet before we left Placencia and we were fortunate to find Raul Tec as a well recommended guide to see the Macaws.

Lots of visitors recommend Raul on the Belize travel forum tripadvisor. We can now say, yes he is very knowledgeable and passionate about his country. Raul lives in red bank also, just before you pass over the first speed bump in the village to the right and before the community school also. He usually has his sign also and this was our designated meeting point. He is a local Mayan guide and over all he is the only Lisenced tour guide in red bank and conducts other tours throughout Belize including hiking, kayaking, tubing, Mayan ruins, waterfalls, cave tubing ECT.

After we met Raul we headed towards the river, we passed through corn, orange and plantain farms before we parked our vehicle. Once we parked our car we headed to the trails for the hike. This is a strenous/steep hike up the mountain but very rewarding once at the top. We saw lots of Macaws feeding on the tree next to us. After the hike Raul took us for more birding and saw a flock of toucan and dozens of other birds Raul was pointing to us.

We also had the opportunity to float on one of Belize's pristine river with raul, the Swasey river is located in red bank. We got to see more macaws, at one point about 50 scarlet Macaws were flying above us as we float down the river.

We Highly recommend Raul as a wonderful guide not only for birding but for any other activity interested. Raul can be reach at tecraul22@gmail.com or +501 651 8225
We cannot recommend him enough. What a great day well spent!‬

‪Short climb to spectacular lookout - macaws are close!‬
الأصدقاء • فبراير 2018
‪Of all the birding I did in Belize, this was perhaps the most satisfying as the scarlet macaws were surprisingly close and we got a nice encounter. From the village of Red Bank, it is easy to arrange a local guide for $80 Belize ($40 USD). There is not much information on the guides but at least 3 local villagers work Dec-Mar to show off the local population. Our guide, Celso Sol, was easy to find because of the “tickets to macaws” signage just off the main road in a lifted blue house near the playing field just past the central grocery store. The macaws are most easily seen in the early morning (before 10am) and in the late afternoon as they are closer to the vista.

The guides take you up a short but steep (15 min) hike, however, depending on road conditions and the capabilities of your vehicle, it may be a longer walk in (if it is muddy). It is my understanding that each guide maintains separate trails, but they come out at a stunning lookout where you can see the macaws pretty close. We saw some other birds along the way, which our guide was pretty well-versed in (including toucans and some parakeets) and also a large basilisk lizard.

The real treat is to see the birds in flight, but I was not quick enough to capture it! I don’t have a very impressive camera, but our guide had loaned me binoculars and a very helpful walking stick.

Our guide has no website and this is his job only during the macaws season Dec-March but I have included his contact information: CLSBLAZE@gmail.com‬
