It is most surprising that a place like bhisma kund is not at all developed. This is the place where bhisma was lying on a bed of arrows. Pond is extremely dirty hence you can't take a bath though some sites say that to take a bath out here removes your skin problems. On the overall I like to say that all temples in kurukshetra needs proper development by the government. Except for brahma sarovar and bhadrakali temple everything is undeveloped which is really sad. Bhisma kund and temple should have been properly developed which is not a case to be. No public transport hence you have to take a private auto which charges you rs 600 for 11 places and in this 11 places sheikh chilli museum and panorama and sri Krishna not included. After seeing 11 places you can get down at panorama and as sheikh chilli museum is very near to Sthaneshwar mahadev temple you can always bargain with auto to show you sheikh chilli museum also

This is the place where during the war between Kauravas and the Pandavas Bhishma Pitamah laid resting on the arrows of Arjuana and then left his body for the heavenly abode. The name “kund” in “Bhushma Kund” signifies a small tank of water that is also called “banganga” – when Bhishma Pitamah was thirsty, Arjuna pierced the ground with his arrow to get the water of the holy river Ganag here – quenching the thirst. There is a temple near the kund. There is also another small temple in the compound that consists of a huge idol of Lord Hanuman. Refurbished recently.

One of the final places we visited on our spiritual tour in India. Awakening an interesting future with knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita

If one goes by the legends this spot was right in the middle of the great battlefield of the great war between the cousins Pandavas and Kauravs in which almost all kingdoms of ancient India north of the vindhiya mountain participated. It is the spot where the patriarch of the kuru clan Bhishma was felled by Arjun's arrows. The tank in the compound is apparently the ban ganga or the water drawn from the ground by Arjun's arrow to quench Bhishma's thirst as he lay on his bed of arrows in the middle of the battlefield.
The premises have been cleaned up though the water could have been cleaned. The ambience was quite peaceful in the afternoon. There are a group of smaller temples with a huge Hanuman idol at the entrance. Surprisingly there was a board (even if in dilapidated condition) giving information on the importance of the place. Hope the authorities take note of giving more information on heritage sites.

It is quite and serene place of worship with the temple dedicated to Bhishma. The place is having historical significance due to Mahabharat battle fought between Kauravas and Pandvaas. Overall a nice place📍

Another place in Kurukshetra which is connected with Mahabharata, but this place is poorly maintain nowadays. It is to believed that When Bhishma Pitamaha asked for water while he was on bed of arrows, Arjun shot an arrow into the ground and let loose a stream of gushing water for him, which is known as Banganga or Bhishma Kund. There is also a temple dedicated to Bhishma Pitamaha next to the pond.

This place has a great legendary history. The kund (pond) is not clean, a lady fell on the slippery steps in front of us. The temple has some historic points written only on hindi so others do not understand. There is no one to guide about the temple for new visitors.
