A very enjoyable afternoon , Dave our guide was very knowledgeable, humorous and the whole experience was not pretentious at all . I would highly recommend this and will always taste my wines in the way we were shown .

I would recommend this place, very highly, if you are interested in wine. Step daughter bought us a tour. Our guide, Roland, was extremely knowledgeable and even patiently answered even the most stupid questions. A very nice lunch with 3 English cheeses and then onto the tasting. Now I am a staunch red drinker, mainly high end Riojas and rarely drink white. I had some bad experiences in the 70's with white wines, this put me off. I must say that English wines have come of age, the selection we tried were fabulous, the sparkling ones were superior to most champagnes. I am happy to recommend the tour and the wines. The only downside was the weather, it was freezing with ice everywhere, pick a warm day and you will enjoy the tour.

We were less than impressed with the whole thing. I thought the place was a little basic, needs attention. We used a Red Letter day gift to have a tour or the vineyard, wine tasting and lunch. The guide was very good and helpful. The wine tasting was not so good. In order to get a good taste of the wine we needed a slightly bigger sample. All the samples were in the same glass. The lunch, was very basic, and meagre, not as good as their pictures.

Absolutely wonderful vineyard tour with Roland our very funny & knowledgeable tour guide.
I came with 4 other friends for my birthday & we all really enjoyed it.
Its was a beautiful sunny day walking round the vines . We tasted lots of wines & all our questions were answered.
The ploughman lunch was so good we went back for seconds .
Excellent value must do experience.

Day out with friends, came by train to Hastings & taxi out to Vineyard, great welcome on arrival,
Very relaxed & informative tour of Vineyard for about 40 minutes, further informative talk, indoors, about wines they produce & generous opportunity to taste a number of wines followed by a very nice Ploughman’s Lunch , could not fault the trip nor the people who guided us through the day, would definitely recommend for content, location and price

Both myself and my partner attended the wine tasting which was a birthday gift for my partner and we both had the most amazing afternoon!
Firstly Malcolm, our tour guide was brilliant, he was very engaging, funny and super knowledgeable, he told us so much about wines, the vineyard and many other things that we had absolutely no idea about, very interesting!
We explored the whole vine yard and Malcolm explained everything as we went round.
After the tour we then sampled 5 different wines, all were very tasty and again Malcolm shared lots of interesting information during the tour.
We then had a tasty ploughmams lunch after the tasting which included fresh baguettes, pork pie, cheese, chutney, pate and salad which was all local produce and again very tasty.
I’ve seen a lot of negative comments saying the vineyard is run down but people need to remember it is a working vineyard and also one of the oldest vineyards going.
Overall my partner and I had great afternoon. It was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend!

We visited today as we were given a gift voucher for Christmas. The tour started off well and it was interesting and informative. I will say- this place is swarming with wasps, inside and outside. The wine tasting was enjoyable however our tour guide seemed to favour certain people, giving out large glasses to some and not others. We have all paid to be here so it felt a little unfair. Most of the wines were very nice. The rooms are very cramped and so it was quite uncomfortable when trying to watch the guide talk about the wines. The lunch was also disappointing, felt very cheap and we left hungry. We went back for more but it had already been put away. We did, however, buy a bottle of brut to enjoy at home as it was delicious. Overall, a pretty average experience.

Our teenage son and daughter treated us to this for our 31st Wedding Anniversary
I didn’t tell them how disappointing it was. We were really looking forward to an amazing lunch and glass of wine. The lunch was some cheese, bag of salad, cheap dressing out of a squeezey bottle, some baguette and a very dry pork pie. We were never even offered a drink with our meal. We ate the basic lunch on a patio and wooden picnic tables that had seen better days. The surroundings ok if you focused on the vines and away from the ugly building and mobile office. We moved to the plastic chairs and table to find they were covered in black mould.
Supposedly £80 reduced to £38. We could have enjoyed a decent meal for that. It was absolutely appalling and then we were asked for more money for the guide. The worst experience we have ever had for the money charged. The surroundings are very run down and the toilets are disgusting. I have visited many toilets throughout the third world and expected a little more from a facility in Kent.

After briefly visiting Carr Taylor before, we decided to go for the wine tour. Ted, our tour guide, was fantastic. He provided great insight into the production process and how the vineyard operates. The wine tasted excellent, as we already knew and the ploughman’s lunch to finish it off was also very good.
However, leaving a slightly bitter taste was the lady serving tea and coffee. She was incredibly rude, with an obnoxious attitude. If it wasn’t for the other wonderful staff members we wouldn’t have been purchasing wine, or planning on returning.

i would be in a Wheelchair is it possible to do the tour?

Some areas would be accessible but very limiting. The start of the tour is achieved in the gravel car park. The wine tasting is all done upstairs. Part of the tour takes you through areas where you have to step over obstacles. To be really honest it would not be an easy tour to experience in a wheelchair having been on the tour myself. It would be worth contacting Carr Taylor direct as they may well have some sort of prevision in place to cater for this.
Are horses allowed to walk around the outside of the second vineyard

Due to the recent wet weather, will I need to bring my wellies for the vineyard tour I’m booked into this weekend?

I've been on an Alfa coach tour here and it's classed as a 'drop in' for a toilet break and refreshments - it isn't the full tour other visitors get. So can you tell me how it was a let down when you weren't even due a full two hour tour??? And if you wanted to spend more time there shouldn't you be complaining to Alfa Travel and not marking the vineyard down for not giving you what you weren't entitled to and certainly didn't pay for!!!

Has anyone actually seen wine being made? When would be the best time to see the actual process of picking, pressing, maybe filtration, blending and bottling too and so on?

I dont think you can stay at the particular vineyard but there are several caravan sites within a few miles .
If you scroll down on the TripAdvisor page for the vineyard it shows hotels & various places to stay that are close by .

We were thinking of staying so contacted Carr Taylor vineyard direct and they emailed me lots of options. In the end I needed to get back for the following day so did not stay. Give them a call they are very helpful.
