This was a fantastic experience to view first hand Olympic medals and cauldrons used over the past 50 years or so to light the Olympic torch. Extremely interesting to see the Nazi propaganda that was the 1936 Berlin games. Many interactive activities for old and young to enjoy firsthand. Great films to help you better understand the Olympic sacrifices athletes must do to prepare. As an American, found it fair and also many American athletes were featured. Of course the Canadian Hockey team is front and center!

The challenge is to find free parking near the Oval. An easy free leisurely saunter near and around the Oval away from the maddening crowds. Particularly preferred in the summer time. Good picture taking against white clouds and blue sky. Can spend 1 to 2 hours there easily. The COPA CAFE right across the street would be a perfect choice for HK Milk Tea in the afternoon (or lunch). T & T also just round the corner from COPA. OK, you can park underground at T & T (limit your visit to 45 mins then).

Lots of parking but you have to pay for it. Great location. We did the oval experience. Saw the movie and then went to the third floor. Went on the simulators. All the staff on the third floor were very knowledgeable. Thanks to the gentleman in the wheelchair, sorry I forgot his name. If it was not for him I may not have tried the simulators. He was helpful, encouraging and full of extra information. He is a keeper. The woman at the desk where we got our tickets was helpful and humorous.

As I am a huge fan of the Olympic Games, I recently went to the Richmond, B.C. Olympic Oval to participate in its Olympic Experience. I learned that The Rox, as it is named, is the only Olympic Museum in Canada. While there, I tried out several Olympic simulators, including the 2-man bobsleigh which was my favourite. I successfully piloted my bobsleigh to a 5th place World finish with a 73-second run. I also tested my skills at hockey and soccer using an interactive hockey and soccer net. I also learned a number of fun facts about past Olympic Games using various touch displays and a world globe. I gyrated and danced in front of a body mirror which showed how my skeleton, muscles and nervous system work as I moved. I saw actual Olympic torches and medals from all past Games. Finally, I became an Olympic television sports reporter narrating one of Usain Bolt’s historic races. It was a really fun and interactive experience. I went on a Thursday morning figuring it would be less crowded and it was. I did not have to wait to try out any of the simulators. The museum was staffed with volunteers who were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. They showed me how to operate the simulators and answered my questions about the displays and past Olympic Games. The museum would definitely be great for a family outing, although I think it would be best appreciated by children who are old enough to understand the purpose behind the Olympic Games. I plan to go again next week as I intend to better all of my Olympic event scores!

We were here for a volleyball tournament in summer! I loved the venue, the location is fantastic. Great views and walking paths right out the door! The venue is very clean and has some food options on the main level. The rock climbing area and ice areas looked amazing, not to mention nice gym facilities. parking was extremely easy and effortless.
The outdoor area and beautiful gardens were lovely!

A piece of Olympic history in a part of town that is going through a complete facelift. So much construction in the neighborhood, will make this a fun place for sports and fitness. The walk along the water and building are well maintained and it a great place to have a picnic and let the kids run around.

Visited the oval for a taekwondo tournament to find the oval able to accommodate 7 rings for us as well as several basketball, volleyball and skating areas on the main floor.
Workout rooms upstairs and tours/ memorabilia for tourists.
I'm not sure of the cost of the facility to use but it's worth checking out if you're in the area.

If your in the area and looking for a climbing workout the Oval is a great spot. The wall opens for climbing at 3 in the afternoon, earlier on weekends. What makes it super are the walls themselves. They are mostly artificial rock. Some tectured plywood offers especially long routes. Walls tend to be consistently overhung so be prepared for pumpy climbs, excellent training for places like Tonsai. It is very popular with young climbers and novices who can populate the gym but they don't stay long. We never wait for ropes. A day pass gives you access to the entire facility. A good workout can be augmented with time spent on many different machines and free weights. Parking is easy and available. Prices are good considering seniors can purchase a day pass for $5.00 and young adults $13.50. if in Richmond or stuck waiting all day for a connecting plane flight out of Vancouver airport the Oval is just a few minutes away.
