‪Well curated range of geological samples that includes prehistoric creatures. Love the entrance way through a model mining tunnel that leads into the samples of minerals, gems stones and fossils.‬

‪The Earth Science Museum at the University of Waterloo is a really cool space to take the family or just yourself if you are into earth science. The mineral collection is beautiful and there is a mock up of a mine that is in a connecting hallway to another building; what a great use of space! Outside around the building is the UW rock garden to wander through. Descriptions of the rocks and general mineralogy are listed on boards within.‬

‪Really interesting museum on the University of Waterloo campus. Learn about Dinos and water systems for free! Probably recommend kids ages of between 3 and 10... ‬

‪My daughter and I were walking around Waterloo campus and just happened to walk in to this Museum. We were not aware of this place. There were cool dinosaur bones and geological rocks. There were a few people there with some kids just leisurely walking around. It is small and there isn't much to see. ‬

‪there are lots of fossils, gems, replicas, etc. - there is one room and the rest of the display cases are in the halls and alcoves nearby and on the floor above - everything is tagged and there are expanded information signs on many - there is a great variety in gems and dinosaur bones well organized - definitely worth the trip - there wasn't a handout or mini map which would have been helpful in finding all the displays - the campus is ramshackle and finding the building was tricky, but all the students we asked for help were friendly and knowledgeable - don't forget to visit the little rock garden outside as well - it has large specimens and when the wisteria is in bloom it is lovely‬

‪Come on campus and visit this unique place! there are dinosaur bones, gorgeous gems and some interactive exhibits. Just being inside the university is a neat experience. i would recommend this place especially on a rainy day when you need something fun to do with the kids!‬

‪Conceived as a Canada centennial project, the Earth Sciences Museum at the University of Waterloo has been open to the public since 1968. It currently features a rock and minerals collection, a dinosaur and ice age mammal exhibit, a replica mining tunnel, and a scale model of the Great Lakes. Most of the items in the museum’s collection are labeled and include a brief description. Look for the Earth Sciences Museum in the Centre for Environmental and Information Technology (EIT) building on the main University of Waterloo campus just off Ring Road. Admission is free. Note that the exhibits that make up the Earth Sciences Museum are distributed throughout the building and that tours are self-guided. The main exhibit area (Conestoga Rovers Learning Centre) is located near the building’s main entrance and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. All other areas (mining tunnel, rocks and minerals collection, Great Lakes model, and monolith of granite gneiss rock) are open all day Monday to Friday and weekends from 9:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. Budget 2-3 hours to see and appreciate everything. Note that you will need to leave your vehicle in one of the university’s visitor lots and navigate your way on foot through the campus to get to the museum (consider acquiring a campus map before you make the trek). It costs about $5 a day to park.‬

‪I am giving Earth Sciences Museum only 3 stars because of Parking Availability is slim to none. Only parking is basically not for non-university folks like us. If you're just visiting, good luck on parking. Only one we found was about 3 miles away and at 74 years old with a damaged knee, it wasn't possible for me to walk there. Wish there were closer parking so we could have enjoyed seeing the Earth Science Museum.‬

‪Hard to find if you don't know the university of Waterloo campus. But worth the time if in the area. Parking is always an issue at post secondary institutions. And it's not large but a few multi tiered areas are very well done. ‬
