A nice view of some flowers, Abby, and walk to a view point. Fairly level and easy walk. No one seems to greet you, and construction of the Abbey is going on. But bring your camera!

This is a must-see place if you want to explore Mission. We usually take our International Students here. There is a scenic walk to a lookout point over Mission, the Fraser River and the beginning of Abbotsford. The hike has been updated to be longer and have more steep sections. It is still a great and easy walk for most people, but it was difficult for my grandma. The lookout point has a nice bench and a fence barrier.
Inside the building is also beautiful with stained glass and sculptures. Make sure that you're not wearing shorts though because only pants or skirts are allowed inside.

Attended the mass at 6:30 am today. Choir were not social distancing. We didn't go for a communion because the priest has been coughing a lot and he was not covering his mouth. Pretty scary.
The ambience is always good. This is my favorite church minus the priest that was coughing.

A short drive from the Powerhouse at Stave Falls, so we combined a visit to both.
The gardens are smaller than we remembered from a visit many years ago but the inside of the church is still as stunning as ever.
An architectural gem with wonderful stained glass in a very modern design.

The Abbey is on the grounds of a Benedictine monastery, and for that reason visitors are asked for silence in the church. Built in the 80's, the outside is concrete--and the inside explodes in color with all the stained glass. In the pews there is a pamphlet that explains the saints and others depicted in the windows. This coupled with the Stave Falls Powerhouse Station National Historic Site makes an excellent day trip from Vancouver.

We like the atmosphere around this Abbey.
Join their noon prayer, it was short but meaningful. Don’t forget to take a look at viewpoint

The views from around the church are really something special. Easy walking paths to follow. It's an interesting church (as churches in BC go) but nothing compared to what you see in Europe.

This beautiful abbey is well worth a visit. Not at all a tourist site, it is a seminary for young priests, a working farm, and a church with regular services. Whereas parts come across as faded and dusty, the sanctuary itself is a beautiful soaring space with stained glass windows and wonderful acoustics. We were privileged to attend Easter Mass here and were awe-inspired by the sombre beauty and reverence.
Located on a high ridge, it offers vistas of the Fraser River and expansive Fraser Valley. Numerous walking paths take you through the carefully-tended landscaping and lush natural vegetation. Dogs are not allowed. The abbey is ideally suited for a relaxed and leisurely visit with time for sitting, staring, and reflecting, both inside and out.

Does any one know the schedule of services at the Abby called Vespers. Where can I get or print out this schedule of meetings for the public? I heard they were on Friday nights, but are they every week or month service for the public to attend? Softsand-13.

I wonder if there is a brochure available telling us where we should go when we get there. I was there once and I'm afraid I didn't see the wonderful views (or at least I can't remember it). Also, where would be a good place to have lunch?

As the others have said. I have found lot's of information right at the building next to the actual Abby at the parking . It has an old relief ma. I've also found any of the Brothers that live there are open for questions. If you call ahead they will do tours.
Love Embers and Mission Springs.
Can anyone come and see this place?

The same year, construction began on a new abbey, church, and seminary, designed by the Norwegian architect, Asbjørn Gåthe. The new location was on the outskirts of the town of Mission. The monks began to live on this site beginning in 1954; buildings were gradually added, culminating in the abbey church in 1982. The abbey is located on a hill northeast of the town centre, with a view up the Fraser River valley.[2]
