‪An absolutely brilliant visit on their last open day of the year‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪I admit to being biased but Gunby Hall is one of my favourite NT properties anywhere in the UK. There are only c 4 in Lincolnshire and imho it is much nicer than Belton House.

Our final visit of the year turned out, because of winds on the Sunday, to be their last open day of 2021. The Saturday morning weather was truly dreadful but when we arrived at half one the sun was out and there were blue skies - clearly someone was looking down on us.

There is a large and new car park and a scenic walk between lines of lime trees to the Hall & Gardens - some may whinge but it isn't far. We enjoyed a very nice latte coffee & citrus cake in a stables? cafe in a previous life? but there were also plenty of tables outside in the courtyard No wait to be served - Belton please note , where the wait is often 30 mins.

The well maintained walled gardens were still a joy at the end of October and pleasingly some good colour. There was a good water colour exhibition in the Orchard Galleryand on the way to St Peter's church there is a very scenic small stretch of water. The church is not looked after by the NT but is in the NT grounds and on this visit it was open and is well worth a visit. There is a lovely seat in the church yard to sit and reflect.

There are walks to do in the grounds and on the way back to the Hall there is another brilliant placed seat to admire the grounds and back of the Hall. The grounds are not big but there is plenty to see including the Dovecote. The toilets could do with an upgrade. Website is excellent and informative.

In summary, this was a truly lovely visit on a glorious, peerless late October Saturday afternoon. The staff are friendly and helpful and Gunby doesn't suffer from NT wokishness. Roll on 12th February next year when it reopens!‬

‪Gunby Hall visit.‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪Wonderful place to visit, it's our local NT property so before COVID we used to visit every month , this visit was our first visit for 2 years very enjoyable.
The house as at the moment restricted visiting times and only the ground floor and basement are able to be visited inside the house.
This still gives a good snapshot of the way life was for the Rich and titled also the downstairs staff, plenty of Luxurious artefacts upstairs and period equipment downstairs.
We have visited the property many times over the past 10 years and I like to photograph the gardens through spring to autumn so have seen many changes in what is grown in the the lovely walled garden, we strolled around yesterday looking at the display of apples of which there are many, and said hello to Committee the resident cat of many years.
The house is shutting now till the spring of 2022 when the new season start.so put it on your list to visit next year and hopefully COVID restrictions will be no more.
The main purpose of our visit was to see portraits of my ancestors hanging on the walls, Bennet Langton and Preguinne Langton-Massingberd , glad to say I achieved my goal and saw my relatives in pride of place looking down from the walls and grand staircase.
So a very satisfying day out.‬

‪We were looking for an indoor activity as the weather forecast wasn't very good. Gunby Hall is 10 minutes down the road. We were very lucky as we missed the rain so our visit was not only dry but complete. The welcome at the gate was lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We started by visiting the house. We were pretty much on our own so it felt like a private tour. The story behind this place is very interesting as well as the people who lived there. It is a shame that all the rooms aren't currently opened to visitors but we were told that hopefully it will be next year. We walked around the chapel, the ground, the pound and the garden. We saw some massive pumpkins and an amazing variety of apple trees. That was certainly impressive. We then had one of the best coffee we ever had. Most enjoyable day. Thank you to all for your hard work.‬

‪Small but great‬
سبتمبر 2021
‪This is one of the smaller National Trust properties I have visited, but wow, what a place.

The gardens were stunning and beautiful, in colour fully in September. Very peaceful. Really was lovely to see all the flowers in such full bloom.

Make sure you also visit the church on site (can't remember the name).

There is a small second hand bookshop and tea room on site - but only serving cake / sweet bits rather than anything else.

Didn't visit inside the house, but I would go back if in the area.‬

‪Visited today and thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and wider parkland. Gardens still full of colour even in October. House is small by NT standards but very interesting and guides very knowledgeable‬

‪A Hidden Gem‬
سبتمبر 2021
‪This is hidden gem. I wasn't that impressed by the house (but it wasn't fully open - for some reason I love looking at old kitchens and I didn't see a kitchen here - there are some photos on the national trust website and the third picture looked like a rustic kitchen/shed and I travelled for that alone but didn't see it), but forget about the house, it's the gardens of this place that are just phenomenal.

Its a Victorian garden and I hope that National Trust never ever let go of their head gardener/gardeners because this place is just one of the most beautiful gardens I have been to. It's right up there with Rougham Gardens. The walled gardens are magnificent, there is so much colour and everything just goes well with each other. It looks natural and not fake or try hard. I cannot recommend it enough!!

It was worth the long drive. I will be back!‬

‪We commented on a long walk from car park for anyone not so good on their legs so maybe some benches along the way would be good. Also note the cafe serves no savoury food like sandwiches etc, its all cake if you intend to eat. But the gardens were lovely , beautiful flowers & lots of colour. Nice little sewing exhibit too.‬

‪Great gardens‬
أغسطس 2021
‪This is a national trust property with great gardens and a lot of potential.
You can only visit the ground floor and basement of the house at present. The tea room was closed when we visited on Tuesday 10th August.
If you are travelling a long distance to visit, I suggest you check how much of it is open.
Booking arrangements are odd. You book arrival time for your car but not time to enter the house. You have to go and get a timed ticket to enter the house if any are available.‬

‪Spectacular Gardens, great guides in the house‬
أغسطس 2021
‪Following the clear instructions on the website we booked entrance to the gardens and on arrival at the purple Gazebo booked tickets for a house tour. this is currently max 6 people at 10 minute intervals.
The gardens are spectacular though a brolly was required on our visit. There is also a regular exhibition in the orchard squash court, currently the Boston Stitchers.
The rooms guides in the house are great, though the long glass jars in the kitchen are definitely cucumber straighteners not rhubarb forcers as the guide told us.
The tea room has lots of outdoor seating and some undercover in the stables,‬
