Interesting tour of a family run brewery and worth a visit. You get the chance to see the old and new ways of brewing, plus the history of the brewery with the added bonus of generous tastings of their great beer. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable with some great stories.

Great brewery tour on Saturday. Our guide Lee was knowledgeable and a good laugh. Great place and after the tour bought some great beers, wine and glasses from the shop. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. With it being next to the railway station an easy way to travel and no one having to take on the driver responsibility

What a wonderful place . Great atmosphere . Steeped in history .
Down side £2.40 for a soda water , I’ve never paid for soda water in my life! £1.50 for a small cup of tea .
Wedding meal was lovely and the evening meal , no one could fault, both tasted great.
Mostly elderly at a wedding and there was no lighting from the venue to the car park !!! We all had to watch we did not trip up on the uneven slabs . Thank goodness for a tall man with a torch on his phone .
Great experience let down by a couple of hick ups .

One of the most disappointing brewery tours I have been on.
The initial talk started off interesting and then became painfully boring when for some reason our guide decided to start slagging off other beers (Fosters / Heineken etc), for some reason he started passing other cans / bottles of beer around the group explaining that you need to pour them straight down the sink!
This then moved onto passing a 1/3 empty can of supermarket beer around saying it’s unopened but why is it so light this was a pointless discussion and a complete waste of time, it also had nothing to do with Batemans.
The brewery tour was slightly interesting it’s a lovely setting/area with some old equipment still left.
I was genuinely surprised that the fermentation vessels were all open to the public wondering in and looking around.
I was shocked at the general bad condition of the site.
If this was my brewery I wouldn’t show people around it, I would be embarrassed.
The tour ended up with some beer samples being poured and drunk in a cold and slightly damp corridor with no where to sit, it would have been nice to finish in the bar where we started.
It’s fantastic that Batemans is a family run brewery that has been around for so long with wonderful history and they do make lovely beer. They need to take a look at others brewery tours and then re-think their presentation and what parts of the tour they show people around, for example avoid the cask storage / filing area and the horrible drinking corridor, and finish in the lovely bar (after a good dusting)!

We held our managers meeting in the function room. The buffet and hospitality was spot on. Afterwards we took a tour of the brewery. Our tour guide Lee was really knowledgeable giving us the history of the brewery as well as insight into the brewing process. Recommended!

We pre booked the tour here for my husband for his birthday. He is a true real ale fan/connesiure. The property is absolutely beautiful. My husband said the guide was very friendly, had a huge amount of knowledge and knew how to talk to people. He and the other guide with him kept things lighthearted but made the tour interesting and entertaining.
Due to my own disabilities I couldn't do the tour,but the young woman working in the bar/shop was excellent company whilst I waited for my husband. She also was knowledgeable about the products,ales ect. Batemans also have a campsite which is clean,quiet and excellent value for money from what I saw. You can also hire holiday cottages.
We will definitely be returning again

A very informative tour and thoroughly entertaining. Our guide Lee knew his stuff and I'd recommend it to anyone - beer drinkers or not.

as a local, i took family to the Tour, not only great beers but the 2 hour tour flew by. Lee the guide was informative , as were every one we met. Well worth a visit.

Had a great tour and got to see the history and the workings of this great brewery.
Lee, our guide lived in the village and was very friendly. Got to trya few samples and washed to purchase a few to take home.

Had a great afternoon on the Batemans Brewery tour. Our tour guide, Lee, was just excellent, and talked about the brewery’s history and how to brew beer in an amusing and informative way. Being able to sample their beers as part of the tour and in the amazing windmill bar made our visit. Thanks Lee. Tony and Gillian Bandy

We are in a cottage near by and would like to do the tour but we have our little dog with us! She can't be left in the cottage on her own as advised in the booking conditions. Any solutions??
