Stopped off here while staying in Bristol, what a lovely find.
It’s amazing that these old buildings are still being used.
We had coffee & cake which was lovely & we’re able to take our dog inside, there is a lovely outside seating area too

The Underfall cafe is amazing: my friend and I walk to it every week for a delicious breakfast. We started doing so during the pandemic and have made a habit of it because it never lets you down: excellent food, kind people working there, good coffee and what we reckon are the best bacon baps in Bristol. Smashed avocado on sourdough highly recommended too, and some lovely cakes. Explore the museum and enjoy the architecture of the building and then sit back in the cafe and enjoy the truly wonderful views: the changing light across the water, varying with every season, cormorants drying their spread wings on the nearby jetty, excited children learning to sail small dinghies, the harbour ferry, the harbourmaster boat going about its business and the Matthew cruising along in all its glory.

This is a historic place serving top quality grub in aid of a good cause. Go on...treat yourself! I recommend the Toscada followed by Icecream. Hubby had a bacon butty and coffee. Indoor seating with hands-on science exhibits and interesting map of harbour. Outdoor seating under sail with harbour views.

Very interesting and atmospheric 19th c. working boat repair yard and pump station. Avoid the crowded madness and see some of what made Bristol what is was. Charming.

Today we walked around a very blustery Harbourside. We got quite cold despite some spells of sunshine between the clouds. A hot drink was needed, so we called here to this great little café that has been installed into the Underfall Yard Visitor’s Centre.
We had my Partner’s daughter visiting us, so she joined us for the walk, along with her a 15-month old, very large and energetic, but friendly, Doberman puppy. This was a first visit to the Bristol Harbourside both the dog and her owner, so it was a bit of adventure. Being a popular dog-walking area there were lots of dogs to meet and one or two to ‘argue-with’.
Hot drinks and a rest were needed by the time we got half way through our walk near this cafe. This café was opened, to help the fundraising efforts to support those businesses badly affected by an arson attack on the Underfall site in May 2023. We have supported this café before and today we did so again, and I also made a cash donation directly to the fund.
The coffee was good and so was the rest. In fact the drinks here are as good as anywhere along the Harbourside in the many cafés that are dotted around the harbourside, and particularly on the northern shoreline of Spike Island.

This is a hidden gem - tucked away from the streets. We used it for lunch during a day exploring Bristol, and I was very impressed. There is a good range of interesting food at fair prices, and service is quick and pleasant. Food was delivered quickly to an outside table with superb views. The bacon in the bacon bap was excellent quality, and the Cawston Press rhubarb drink was a wonderful discovery.
Highly recommended.

The weather forecast for this early March midweek day were so good, that we planned a day-off from work/duties, and to take the bus to Bristol City Centre, to have a walk and enjoy a snack lunch.
On arrival in Bristol we walked from the M3 bus-stop near Cabot Circus around to Castle Park, following the waterfront onto Welsh Back. Then we continued onto The Grove, over the Prince Street Bridge and onto Princes Wharf. We walked on past the M Shed; a local history and culture museum, then Wapping Wharf, and up-to the SS Great Britain visitors centre.
Turning left towards the River Avon at this point we would normally take the (currently closed) footpath that connects Gas Ferry Road to Hanover Place. We rerouted onto the Cumberland Road and then back onto Hanover Place, then Sydney Row, and Canada Way which led us onto the footpaths that eventually led us to this Café.
It was a walk of just over two miles and the weather was, as promised, just fabulous. At this juncture we decided to just have a sit-down and a cup of tea at this fundraising café, set-up to help support businesses affected by a fire caused by arson. We sat inside the café, within Underfall Year Visitor’s Centre because, such is the popularity of this café, that all outside tables were taken. Inside there were only two tables available, so we felt fortunate to sit whilst we enjoyed what was a good strong cup of tea.
Satisfied, rested and bolstered by the refreshments we then continued our walk around the top of the floating harbour and down past some very attractive housing developments before emerging onto the Hotwell Road. From there we walked uphill to Clifton Village where we had lunch; but that’s another story.

Usually have a good experience in the cafe, however the last visit I was about to order £25 of food, after standing there studying the menu, staff come to the till to take the order, after my first request I’m told the kitchen is closed at 2:30, I checked my watch and it’s 2:31:45s. I know it’s not the staff’s fault, but small businesses complaining about hard times should maybe take a look at their business model. It’s a half term week and loads of people about, what sort of caffe can’t supply food after 2:30.

This café is located within and outside of the Underfall Yard Visitor Centre. From what I understand the proceeds, from the food and drink sold here, are used to provide financial support to Underfall Yard businesses. That is businesses that have been (very badly) affected by a fire, that is thought to have been an arson attack.
We were walking around the Harbourside, and had looked at the menus posted outside of several eateries, but we just couldn’t find something that we fancied, or was small portioned and inexpensive. We were looking for an eatery that offered a simple snack lunch, and a refreshing drink. We came-across this café as we walked along the pathway between the north and south banks of the harbourside.
Having seen the café advertising boards, we walked into the Visitors Centre, and studied the menu (on a blackboard at the servery), and decided it was pretty close to what we were looking for. There is a limited amount of seating inside the café and more outside along the dockside and under a large fixed awning.
My Partner ordered a “Puy Bean Salad” with feta, beetroot and rocket. This was apparently wonderful and something that my Partner would order again in an instant. I decided on something that was not as healthy; a “Breakfast Bap” with sausage, bacon and egg. This was excellent with a perfectly cooked egg (often in other meals of this type the egg is often over-cooked, but certainly not here). Service was really friendly and proficient and our cooked-to-order food soon arrived.
We sat outside, sheltered from the sun, and watched the sights to see on the water: it was so relaxing. To accompany our snacks we enjoyed a pleasant glass of Sauvignon Blanc that was well-chilled, and thus so were we!!
