I never knew Disraeli had been such a prolific author. His hate for Gladstone was fascinating. Lots of Red Kites in the sky. So interesting to find the secret WW2 work didn't become public until long after Bletchley Park.

Such an interesting history to the manor house with the Disraeli and the secret WW11 connections - it proved to be a most educational visit to a beautiful house and garden.

This house (National Trust) was once owned by Premier Disraeli. The house also played a special role during WWII. In a part of the house you can read and experience more about this. The house is nicely decorated but certainly the garden was also beautiful to see in bloom. We really enjoyed ourselves there.

This is a good NT house and gardens to visit, has some interesting rooms (you can see it was a living house) war exhibition was informative and fairly new as the war office only released details in recent years.
Gardens were colorful and a number of walks available around the property.
Only negative was the access road, it is in terrible condition and your cars suspension will be challenged.

The house and gardens were a lovely day out with very helpful and knowledgeble volunteers. However the down side is the awful state of the roads within the estate. They are the worst I have seen in any NT property and need URGENT attention. The coffee shop is badly managed with lots of background staff but only one person taking orders and monies. The queue for one coffee took 40 minutes and it was growing by the second.

A fascinating museum home of Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881:
Conservative statesman and former Chancellor (x3) and Prime Minister (x2), as well as trusted close friend of Queen Victoria and author of many popular books.
Unfortunately, our experience and from the reading of historical facts, it seems that the UK National Trust want to minimise this great man’s achievements, and “ cancel” him more or les, by their withering biased comments at the start of the tour.
Really, National Trust, your dislike of Conservatives and your own myth making is on full display!
In fact- they not only did he introduce vitally important laws, such as the Reform Act of 1867 which gave the vote to the common man for the first time; he oversaw the abolition of public executions and introduced the Public Health Act to supply sanitation and medical doctors in Scotland.
He was made an Earl by Queen Victoria, but for 10 years refused to receive a dukedom offered by the Queen.
All in all, he was an influential major figure who achieved greatly in his life.

Not the best NT house I have visited. The house looks amazing but the room displays inside were uninspiring. Even the rooms telling the story about the WW2 life of the house lacked impact.
The gardens are beautiful and it was nice to see lots of deck chairs dotted about where you could sit and admire the views.
The cafe was average, with mainly outside space for eating. Not sure how it would cope on a damp day.
One major negative to note is the access road. It is full of some very deep pot holes and needs urgent attention.
If you have a low profile car take extreme care, otherwise this could be a very expensive day out.

An enjoyable visit as NT members. Beautiful house and gardens to explore even with the sweltering heat today. Nice shop, courtyard cafe - we only had drinks. Pleasant, friendly staff / volunteers. The only downside which has been mentioned by others is the potholes and condition of the access road. It’s a long drive up and the road is awful. I think it would put some people off visiting sadly. A nice walk down from the car park but a small buggy does run to take people back up if needed.

We were travelling in a large motorhome and were able to park in a peaceful spot in the overflow meadow with red kites circling. We enjoyed looking round the house and gardens and the staff were friendly and welcome. Only downsides were the appalling state of the access road and the very long queue for ice-creams.

Fascinating to learn about how Disraeli reinvented himself and sold his image. Very helpful staff and volunteer guides. Lovely gardens.
