Excellent day out .
We started our tour with a cream tea in the cafe which was delicious . The girl that served us was really lovely and patient as we kept changing our minds .
Then came the tour of the castle . Our guide , Ian , was amazing . His enthusiasm shone through and he spoke very clearly . His knowledge of the history of the castle made it it very interesting . We listened attentively and he was far from boring . I would recommend this to young and old even if you are not interested in history . The castle was built by Henry the 8th and was used right up until the Second World War .
I believe it is on a 72 hour standby should it be needed again .
I can’t sign off without mentioning the panoramic view. Which is because it was strategically placed to defend us from invaders .

The views over Falmouth from this castle are just beautiful. A great way to spend a couple of hours, with really friendly staff and lots to look at.

We visited on a wet day, my cards were out of date, couldn’t access my bank account, they took my cards and then said ok you are members, and let us in.
We went for the Easter Egg event , would have been helpful if the egg clues were marked on a map, although the grand kids did enjoy it.
Please take note English Heritage, you need to make provisions for Motor Homes as we struggled to find somewhere to park, I understand your limited on parking.

Ok for a hour or so stroll but I have absolutely no idea what on earth we paid so much for. Total waste of time and money. I am a massive history fan and I was really disappointed. Also in no way suitable for small children, quite the opposite infact which should be stated. Dogs everywhere which I was shocked at. Also may win award for the worst Easter egg hunt ever.

Tour guides are so enthusiastic. One of the best castles I have visited. I would highly recommend it as a great venue for families and couples.

If you have chnace take the free tour around the old part of the castle as the guide has so much information to share. We spent 3 and a half hours on the site (including a coffee and cake) and could have taken longer if we'd read all the written information on the displays. very helpful volunteers.

Overall, expensive and disappointing.
Emphasis is on the cafe and overpriced gift shop.
Firstly it's NOT a castle, it's a small fortified tower. Out shone by every other castle I have visited.
Initially I was surprised that no guided tours were on offer. But frankly there's no need.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. Every member of staff were so helpful and friendly. Sgt Steve (RA) is great with the Half Moon Battery Tour. Really funny and interesting plus he managed to keep my 7 year old interested for the whole tour which is a feat in itself! Great cafe and great gift shop. Obviously the best bit about this place is the 500 years of history that never gets boring. Well done guys!

Seargent Steve's tour is very good. I highly recommend it.
He is a very good actor. There are a lot of big guns and very long spiral staircases.
Also, the castle is more of a fortress because of how big it is!

I don't walk very well (use a cane) and can't handle long distances (like 3-4 city blocks) without a break. Would I be able to handle a tour here, or would I be frustrated by it?

Hello George,
I think you could handle the walk around the grounds, watch the cannon being fired, go inside the museum and café, see the displays set up around the Fortress. It's more a fortress than a castle. Nothing pretty inside and lots and lots of narrow stone stairways. My husband went up to the top but I gave up halfway up. After two weeks of seeing castles, everything started to look the same. If you want to see a pretty castle, go to Maidenhead to Leeds Castle. You can even spend the night there. I have a review about it. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and the great thing about it is, if you can't walk far, there is a little train that will take you to the castle and back. You can also see most of the inside of the castle. I don't remember there being too many stairs. There's also a pretty moat around the castle. Would be beautiful in the Spring. We visited in October. It was still very pretty.

We were planning on visiting the castle tomorrow for the jousting/medieval displays, but the forecast is for heavy rain and we have young children in our group. Can anybody advise whether all of these activities take place outdoors please, or if any of them are under cover/sheltered?Many thanks.

Sorry I didn't answer earlier. I am sure the event will be outdoors. If you have already been I hope you all enjoyed it.

Dogs are very welcome at Pendennis Castle, they can enter all buildings except the café where visitors eat. There are tables outside where you can have your food and drinks with your dog. Water bowls are provided for dogs.
