We started at Sennen Cove and did the loop. After the Nanjizal Beach the trail is interesting - through some farmer's fields, including a cow field, through someone else's garden passing close to their living room windows, then onto the road for a few steps and then another farm. Took us about 2 hours. Nice lunch stop at Apple Tree cafe. Trail condition very good, steep in some spots, lots of yellow and white flowers out in April

We walked along the coastal path from St Ives to Carbis Bay and it was delightful. There was lots of beautiful scenery and amazing views

We walked parts of the coastal path in both directions from our base in St Ives.
The path toward Zennor could be a bit tricky & steep in parts & good walking boots are essential. Walking in the direction towards Carbis Bay was much easier underfoot.
Stunning views from the path, breathtaking.

We took the train from St Ives to St Erth and after a walk on the road, picked up the coast path and wandered back to St Ives. Lovely route, few hills (ughghghg), and a wander through Carbis Bay hotel.

You won't forget these views in a hurry. And you come across little cafes along the way to sit in and watch the world go by while seriously considering relocating to Cornwall.

We took the coastal path from St Ives to Zennor and the Tinners Arms. Weather was OK. Cool for the walk. As experianced walkers we completed the 6 miles in 4 hours. We stopped for a chocalate brownie break and water. Great for photos. Saw seals at seal Island. The last 1/4 of the walk has alot of boulds on the path so care must be taken. Pub is open till 2030. Enjoy.

I took the train from St Ives to Lelant (fabulous views) then ran back along the South West coastal path.
It was quite hilly, but what do you expect?
Some parts were covered by vegetation but otherwise a fantastic thing to do if you want some exercise while away.
Distance about 4 miles
Trail shoes recommended if it's been wet as there are some muddy bits.

Walk as far as you like, it goes all around Cornwall. We walked in both directions from St Ives. It's challenging in places so definitely wear suitable footwear.

This is an easy walk although not much in the way of sea views. Amble though woods and tracks admiring the houses of the rich on the way. You follow both the coast and railway line before emerging at Porthminster Beach Cafe for a welcome drink (queues likely). To get to Carbis Bay take the train for £1 single.

Last week, we did the coastal path walk to Zennor from St Ives having last done it about 15 years ago. We knew that it wqs not an easy walk but it was definitely harder than we remembered. There was a lot of scrambling up & down over rocks and a couple times I had to resort to sitting down and jumping off boulders as they were too high and too slippery to just walk down. Guide books put it as 7 miles but our fitness watches recorded it at closer to 9.
All this being said, we really enjoyed it and were pleased to have completed it. The views were amazing as we had glorious weather - I would not recommend it in bad weather as, not only would the views be lost, but also the rocks would be way too slippery.
When we got to Zennor we had a lovely lunch in the garden of The Tinners Arms and headed back on the alternative 'field' footpath which was much shorter (about 4.5/5 miles). The only issue with this was that, already having very weary legs, the very high stiles at the end of each and every field became tiresome on the knees.
Enjoy the walk but don't go into it thinking it's just a stroll along the coast.
All this being said, we really enjoyed it and were pleased to have completed it. The views were amazing as we had glorious weather - I would not recommend it in bad weather as, not only would the views be lost, but also the rocks would be way too slippery.

there are portions which are not easy, but you can normally ecape the route by walking inland and finding easier routes
Is this place easy to get to and is the route easy to follow? And is there parking? We are staying at John Fowlers in St Ives.

Most of the Coastal Path is very well sign-posted. We used an OS Map to plan a circular walk from Halsetown, out to coast path west of St Ives, then back through St Ives and back up to Halsetown. We parked on the roadside in Halsetown. Sorry I'm not from the area so don't know where John Fowlers is, but if you only want to walk for 2 or 3 miles then the section of coast path immediately in/out of St.Ives is very easy. Hope this helps you a bit.

We walked a 2mile section of the path into st Ives with a 2yo and 4yo and it was very slow progress with quite a bit of carrying. The path is not suitable for either buggies or off road prams as it can be quite rocky in sections. We enjoyed our walk in nice weather but it was hard work.
