A nice view from the quay and nice shops and cafes. The theatre is near, possibly needs updating . Shopping centre is ok. A pity Liv ing Coast is not there anymore as the children and the adults enjoyed going there.

Wasn't sure what to expect as was kind of expecting boring shops etc. It is anything but. Go for a lovely walk along the river to get there, say start at the Mill on The Exe and cross over Millers Bridge.
When you get there there are some lovely local craft shops and not over priced at all. Nice restaurants, bars and coffee and tea places too.
You cant come to Exeter and not come here.

Lovely spot by the river Exe. Many superb views, small local arts shops set in arches under the river bank. The custom house us there to be explored and many places to eat and drink. Surprised by the area.

Such a lovely convivial area with lots happening, craft shops, gift shops, bars, restaurants and posh junk shops. I saw a painting workshop taking place, some water sports and a few wild water birds. In the evening the lighting is low and you feel you have been transported back in time. It seems relaxed and tranquil even though there is outdoor seating, unlike the quayside in my town which is very commercial and full on with glaring lights and so on. There are a mixture of fabulous waterside buildings and architecture from different time periods along with cobbled areas and an attractive covered colonnade.
We had walked along the Exe from The Mill on the Exe the whole walk was pleasant on the foot path and the Quay area was the perfect concluding point.

Lovely place to wander through - good variety of little shops, a good antique market, The Customs House and nice ice cream.

A 30-minute walk from the bus terminal brings us to a beautiful harbor of old buildings.
There are many birds and people gathering. I can't get enough of walking, boating and watching.

We visited the quay side during our holiday this is a lovely area of Exeter with craft shops and bars, we shopped at the Fire Trees shop, who went above and behond with exellent customer service we purchased two amazing items. Well worth a vist if in the area.

Exeter Quay is a picturesque part of the city centre. There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants around the quay. Also the Custom House Visitor Centre has information about the history of the city as well as suggestions of things to do in the area, and occasional exhibitions. The Quay Antiques Centre is also worth a visit.
We have also enjoyed canal side walks up from the lovely Double Locks Hotel.

As previously responded.... it's a hilly walk there/back but its a small city so should only take about 15 minutes from the centre (main shops, cathedral, etc.) Park n ride is good. Can't say where all the stops are, but there is one within a few minutes of the quay.

How far is the Quayside from the cathedral. Is it easily accessible for folk who don't find walking easy? Or do we need to catch a bus?

It is a short walk from the Cathedral, less than 10 minutes. However part of the way is a bit steep which could be a bit uncomfortable for someone hat does not find walking very easy. There are alternative routes, which may be flatter but would take a lot longer. Perhaps taking the bus would be the best option.

Yes, most of the little craft shops are open 7 days a week. 'Quay presents' stays open I think until about 5pm, and the other cellar shops stay open until 5pm too.

There is a car park right by the quay - 'Cathedral & Quay car park'. You go half way up 'Western Way' from Exe Bridges roundabout and turn right. It's a 2 minute walk from the car park to the Quay. The address of the car park is 'Lower Coombe Street'
