Deze grote kerk uit 1869 is een Parish Church ontworpen door architekt Ambrose in laat Gotische - Venetiaanse stijl en gebouwd op initiatief van de Congregatie van George street. De kerk werd geweid in 1871. Ook deze kerk bleek helaas gesloten. Waarom?

This place really knows how to pull in the punters when it wants to. Tonight the queue at the front door stretched two and three deep right around the front and side down as far as the eye an see Al out to the railway car park. Time perhaps to upgrade this listing with some better and interior photos and also some descriptive text by the lead picture. Maybe the management could see to it that after so many years they final amend the name/title to Mutley Baptist which is how we and the world know it. See how the Anglicans at Emmanuel have brought their listing to life.

Not a comfortable place for shrinking violets but welcoming to all. If you are not a participator then brace yourself for the reverberations. Mid morning Sunday service here has all the lively components of the church on the march. No dodging the realities and relevance of Christ all over the current world. This place not only worships, it revels and commits to useful active outreach. Not for the faint hearted.

Came with local friends just to be polite. Singularly impressed even if it didn't overcome my absence of belief. This is a lively practical active and dynamic church with a lot of support and a lot going on. Couldn't fail to be impressed even if a lot of the Biblical stuff is hard to swallow despite sounding benign, compassionate and occasionally blindingly obvious. My visit reminded me both of how far the old denominations' language and ritual is from modern life but how important and well supported a place like this can be and how significant and charitable it's outreach and practical it's work within the deprived or addicted parts of the local community. I was happy to thrown cash into their collection.

Built in 1867, English Heritage regard this imposing building as outstanding in a national context for its interest as an example of non-conformist chapel architecture. Although repaired after blitz damage and slightly altered internally to create a screen, it nonetheless preserves most of its original character and is helped by its continuing burgeoning congregation and outreach activities.

Not sure why this church should be so popular. Maybe it's the site in the middle of a high density residential area with a lot of students and a good mix of families. Baptist without being too patronising or happy clappy. Very pleasant feeling to the morning service. they must be doing something right if they get such big numbers regularly.

Came with grinder over Christmas. A very spirited congregation. Not sure I go with the baptism ritual itself but the rest of the conduct of services was very palatable.

Lovely and busy family church with huge congregation and plenty going on. Lots of outreach work with the poor and homeless. Active worldly christianity. Nice feel and friendly.

Not being a Christian but having attended with friends and been impressed I felt Mutley Baptist needed a plug in case there are actual Baptists and allied non-conformists who might be interested or chose to give the place a go or drop in if living locally or passing through. Well attended with a definite buzz and a sincere spirit with a lot of practical support and outreach. No heavy ritual. Not happy clappy but friendly and lively. Useful website gives a fair idea of flavour and approach. On a busy dual carriageway Edwardian shopping street but with a latte public car park less than 100m behind.

What times are the regular services?

Service times are usually 09.00,10.30 and 18.30,but at the moment during the covid19 situation, Mutley Baptist are having online services at this time.

To get to the main hall,hurrell room and lounge you have to go out the main church doors and down the side of the church then through the doors at the back of the church.
The sanctuary is accessible through the main entrance doors.
