A disheartening average experience one afternoon in June. I havent been here for quite a few years the last time i recall a few reasonable real ales but that was then. This time there was nothing of interest on tap so resorted to Guinness which seemed expensive as well.
Cant say i will return here unless it changes

Due to the settings on Tripadvisor, I've not been able to review until now. It seems a little out of date but just wanted to say that the pub looked great over the Christmas period: loads of lights, raffle prizes everywhere, great beer as usual and a welcoming crowd of locals. Paul and Donna doing a great job with the help of the lady behind the bar - sorry can't remember your name. See you in the summer.

Well worth visiting this small pub that’s really traditional. It’s in the opposite direction to the chaos of the Barbican with a friendly local atmosphere. We’re coming back in December. Landlord made a point of asking if people enjoyed their visit on leaving. Nice touch.

Nice cosy little pub not everyone's cup of tea.
But the staff are friendly locals will welcome anyone.

Just over from the skate board place, this single room small corner pub in an area which is a mix of light industrial, leisure complex, budget hotels, fish market and a couple of narrow early Victorian terraces, remains a welcoming friendly traditional pub for a quick couple of pints.

been coming here for a few years now, Ronnie is great, Lee is perpetually amusing, company is always full of banter (apart from boothie of course haha). A very loyal but welcoming bunch of locals

When I visited plymouth friends as a student Sutton and Commercial Roads had more pubs. There was a big tradition of live music. The Shipwrights now demolished and the Breakwater now flats, used to have very popular regular gigs. The Thistle still does. Apart from those were the Fareham and the Eagle both on the corner of modest residential terraces but with all the traditional appeal of local pubs. These two survive. I like both but the Fareham seems to be open longer and earlier hours.

Started coming here after using a tyre depot close by. Have since come back occasionally for a swift one before eating or gigs in the Thistle.

The Fareham is an older corner pub in what was once a rundown light industrial area close to Sutton Harbour and the Plymouth estuary. It is still a traditional one room terraced pub serving people who live close by but now has the advantage of being close to the Barbican Leisure complex, the Aquarium and across the lock bridge the full run of the Barbican. Beers are pretty standard but there is usually something from St Austell such as Tribute. Not a bad little place.
