This is right next to Hailes Abbey, so we decided to look in here while coming out of that attraction. This Norman church is quite small but there are still some interesting features, such as the wood carvings, the wall paintings and tiles near the altar and graves in the floor, all centuries old. It is a peaceful and atmospheric place; one can stand and imagine the events that took place in this humble building over the many years, especially considering its connections to the abbey. If you are visiting Hailes Abbey, come here too, it will be worth the few minutes spent.

This sweet little church features Mediaeval wall-painting and tiles. It’s very unspoiled, we’ll worth a visit.

Felt relatively untouched by time. A simple little church also many tiles salvaged from the abbey destroyed on Henry VIII's orders.

A small church built around 1135 in need of some repairs but the remains of the wall paintings give an idea of how spectacular it must have looked in its heyday. Shame there aren't some information boards around, it has an interesting history

Friday 17th September 2021, after visiting Hailes Abbey my husband and I visiting this lovely church.
It is home to some remarkable medieval wall paintings which are very good examples of church painting at this period in time.
It is quite a atmospheric church and it feels as if time has stopped here, and is very peaceful and quite.
It is well worth a visit if you are in the area

Well worth seeking out, not very easy to find. Tiny church with remnants of medieval wall paintings. Very atmospheric

Happened to be passing following a diversion - a wonderful find. Totally "unimproved" with ancient pews, tiles and beautiful wall paintings - and no electric light. Adjacent to Hailes Abbey (closed in Winter) but well a worth a detour.

I have visited this church several times because it is one of my favorite places to visit. This church dates to the 11th or 12th century (I forgot exactly when it was built). It is a small church with a small churchyard. The paintings in the area near the alter are exquisite. The entire site is extremely peaceful. It is a true gem.

We popped in here before visiting the Abbey and we are so glad we did. Steeped in history and one of the only churches to have non-religious fresco on the walls... I believe.

Small ancient church with amazing murals (considering the age and content). Make sure you go in good daylight as no electric.
