‪Parking was okay free which is a bonus i consider myself a fit fellow and struggled up the first incline, there were numerous runners on the mountain that thought they owned the mountain and were quite rude with the insult of if your stopping already you wont make it. The more we walked up there was a group of lads walking playing music from what i must assume is one of them bluetooth speakers aptly the song was rick astley never gonna give you up i wish they had. Once at the summit there was a long haired gentlemen moaning that he needed to use the facilities and not for a wee. And when heading to the actual summit point with the ordance survey ring there was another guy on his knees licking the ring. But all in all a good experience me knees hurt would recommend to friends but make sure you use the toilet before as tgere is a lack of bushes‬

‪We did the simplest route which is just follow the path from the car park and you can't go wrong. Nice easy route anyone should be able to do without much worry. A few steep parts but all in all simple and safe. From the car park it's about 2 miles to the top and on a clear day like we had you get some great views on of the lakes in all directions. We had a dog with us who had no worries.‬

‪Very nice walk for beginners, quite uphill at points but nothing too bad. Views were stunning but unluckily we got to the summit just as the fog and clouds fell so there were no views from the top. Spectacular ones on the way up and down however. Overall, it took us 4 hours, including a half an hour break to eat lunch and a few stops here and there. Would take less time without any dogs or children. Definitely recommend!‬

‪I am a frequent visitor to Blencathra and in terms of positives there is little I can add to what others have said in earlier reviews.

However, one thing that has troubled me in recent visits to Cumbrian peaks is the increasing incidence of vandalism. A few years back Blencathra had a summit cairn, a summit shelter and an iconic trig ring. The summit cairn and shelter were first to go - seemingly demolished by visitors. The trig ring went in 2018, presumably broken up by vandals. In 2019 a crowd funded effort raised the four figure sum required to replace the ring and it was duly replaced. And the new ring looked fine.

I was up there yesterday (20/07/21) and saw that the new ring had been subject to a determined assault by someone with a hammer and chisel. See image. Just who are the people who commit these deranged acts at Blencathra and elsewhere in the Lake District?. I suspect we are dealing with mad Lake District lovers who have some mystic mission to keep the pristine wilderness of the Lake District unsoiled by man.

Ruined my day out.‬

‪A magical place to adventure with views across to the northern, north west and central fells….just breathtaking! We made an ascent from Blease Rd over Blease fell, Gategill fell and onto Blencathra (Hallsfell top). If you are reasonably fit give it go the memory will last a lifetime.‬

‪Great peak to climb - most frequently from near the pub at Scales - with a selection of clear routes up including the extremely demanding Sharp Edge (only for the confident and well -prepared). There’s a lovely tarn, Scales Tarn, which is good for a stop two thirds of the way up several of the routes, and there’s fine ridge walking both ways when you reach the top - just to prolong the opportunity to see 360 views. Highly recommended.‬

‪Climbed all five this morning, starting from Mungrisedale on the clockwise route, which I do recommend .
Never done the other four, only Blencathra in the past several times.
A good stretch of the legs, easy to find them all dependent on the weather.‬

‪Really good walk with lots of potential routes. Didn’t have much of a clue ourselves so we took the direct route up the top avoiding all paths. Took around and hour to get up there but was brutal on the legs so keep to the routes.

The walk along the ridges was really cool with great views and quite a fun climb towards the summit. There’s a great walk along the ridge leading all the way down too but again we cut through the fields like fools which again was brutal on the legs.

Getting in and out of the car park in Threlkeld can be brutal as it’s very tight and if a lorry is coming the other way then it gets very interesting particularly if it’s school leaving time.‬

‪We parked in the free FSC car park at the bottom (limited spaces but we didn’t have a problem on a Friday lunch time). We intended to take the ‘gentle route’ that we’d researched online but took the wrong path and ended up climbing/scrambling up one of the steep ridges.

I’d consider myself to be reasonable fit but it still felt like a tough work out! Fabulous views at the top though and well worth the effort.‬

‪We took the ‘easy’ well trodden route from the FSC car park (free parking) - a constant incline, hard work on the leg calves but once you reach the top, it is all worth it. Incredible views

You can even see the scramblers up the side of the mountain

Would recommend if you’re looking at a few hours to kill ‬
