Well worth the walk,from here is one of the most beautiful veiws in the Lake District, we all went as a family to celebrate what would have been my late husbands/their dads birthday, holds very special memories, we sat on the crag and had a picnic, perfect day

After a drizzly morning when I'd gotten soaked. The weather improved so I set out to find this Crag. I found a path behind the mountain rescue building and chatted to a couple of locals on route.
To be honest it was more of a meander and see where you end up, since there's very limited signage.
The view was lovely, and I do agree with other reviewers that getting too close to the edge could be disastrous. I like heights but the thought of falling down a rock face did not appeal.
However, in comparison to some other lake viewpoints (especially those at Derwent Water) it wasn't as special in my opinion.

Walked from Ambleside to Jenkins Crag and back - long but definitely worth the view and stunning scenery along the way.

We had a walk around the tall tree area & then decided to follow the trail round to this great view point. You do have to be careful not to get too close to the edge of the rocks. We did walk further up the trail & found anonymity great view point

We loved our walk up to Jenkin Crag going through Skelghyll Woods. We started at Stagshaw Gardens which was worth stopping to relax before our walk. The views were so beautiful and could see for miles. We just lived it and was so lucky with the weather.

you can take a short stroll up to jenkin crag and back from Ambleside, but we like to see the view from there as part of a longer walk when we go over wansfell to troutbeck, calling at the mortal man pub for lunch, then back along robin lane stopping at the crag near the end of the walk.

Had a fantastic walk up to Jenkin Crag through Skelghyll Woods and back through Stagshaw gardens, the scenery was lush and the veiws from the top were well worth the effort. Went first thing and didn't see a soul, so peaceful, beautiful place. 😊

We walked from Troutbeck to Ambleside and discovered this along the way. Some may miss it whilst walking along, but worth a visit whilst walking through the Skelghyll woods

Just below Ambleside (south) Lowfold Car Park, there are some free spaces at the back, there is a signpost off Old Lake Rd for Wansfell, Jenkin's Crag.
