Bought vouchers for my partner for Xmas, no answer to any calls or emails. Shocking behaviour! would never buy again!

Guide simply didn’t turn up. We waited like idiots, then set off for Scafell Pike by following other walkers. Have requested a full refund. Avoid this scammer.

Guide didn’t turn up after taking the money 2 days prior, traveled 350 miles for this trip.
Booked via Tripadvisor, will be requesting a refund.
But that certainly won’t go anywhere near relieving the disappointment.

We booked via Chase Adventure after searching online for those who provide the facility.
6 in our party, 2 adults and 4 teenagers.
Our guide was Graham, he was brilliant and made the afternoon all the more enjoyable.
We all loved it, a very different experience, one we will definitely do again 😁👍

Nobody turned up! And there was no notification of cancellation. I couldn't contact the company, The Lake District Walkers. Waited for ages in the meeting place. Very disappointed. This was meant to be the highlight of my holiday. How do I get my money back?

Do not book with this company. The day I booked with this company was cancelled due to Covid last year. i have emailed, telephoned and tried to communicate on their website to no avail. This was booked as a birthday present, so its a principle thing. I have requested a refund still nothing. It must be a scam company but someone must work for them because they have updated their website to rob others.

I still have not received a refund on £256 for a cancelled trip. Judging by other reviews, I am not the only one this has happened to, so be very careful when booking with this company.
The activity we booked in July 2020 was cancelled by the instructor due to Covid and I was promised a full refund. Despite numerous calls and emails from me, I have heard nothing back and never received the refund.
I have now started a civil claim.

I booked a guided walk up Ben Nevis with my 2 daughters for 18th July. The Lake District Walker cancelled it and promised a full refund of the £120 but despite me calling and emailing numerous times I am stull waiting.

The reviews for this company are full of praise for the mountain leaders who work hard to keep people safe in the hills and have an enjoyable day. Sadly they, like I have found out, often don't get paid. Apparently the company are known for this and so experienced leaders no longer work for them, They therefore turn to newly qualified who are keen for the experience but then find out the reality having taken on the work and helped out in good faith. Please be aware...

I booked to bike Ben Nevis with the Lake District Walker, after a brilliant experience completing Scafell Pike. However, my hike was cancelled, as the guide lived in an area, which was in lockdown - and I completely understand that. I told them that I still wanted to go, if possible, as I had dedicated the weekend to completing the hike. They transferred me to the next hike in May but I was able to complete the hike with another provider. Therefore, I do not require the hike in May.
Since this weekend, which is well over a month ago, I have been unable to contact anyone from the Lake District Walker, about arranging for a refund. This is despite numerous occasions of attempting to contact staff via phone, Facebook, email, and Instagram. I realise that you are likely to be short staffed but I do not understand why it has taken over a month to reply to my request for a refund. This has made me deeply question using The Lake District Walker in future for other hikes. This is a real shame, considering how good they are when you get to go hiking with them. I feel that the administration side of things has severely let them down.
It would be greatly appreciated, if someone could contact me to arrange for my refund to be processed promptly.

The key question I want to know is when will the hiking guides get paid for their work last summer for The Lake District Walker? I am disgusted that this company is still taking bookings and taking on guides to look after the clients without them being aware they won't get paid. I have since learnt that experienced Mountain Leaders won't work for this company.

Hi there,
It would depend on what activity you are looking at, if it's one of the guided walks then you will need decent waterproofs (jacket and trousers), warm clothing, hat and gloves a rucksack and food and drink for the day.
If it's for ghyll scrambling then you need some shoes that can get wet, we will provide the wetsuit and the safety gear.
