Beautiful woodland walk, made more spectacular with the autumnal colours followed the white route 4 mile relaxing walk. Lots of way-markers so no need to worry about the route.

We visited Grizedale to walk the dogs and attend the GoApe. We arrived a few hours early for GoApe so enjoyed a lovely walk and then visited the dog friendly cafe which was really good, staff were really nice. Go Ape was good, we'd done a few before so knew what to expect. We then had another walk and ice creams at cafe which were excellent. Parking expensive, we were £8 but the well marked dog walks and excellent facilities make this worth paying for relaxing holiday with 3 dogs and 12 year old

My partner and I had a fantastic walk through Grizedale Forest very recently, we chose to walk the Tarn trail which is 3.5 miles which was a good choice for us, i was most impressed with the directional posts / points as walking the trail.

Mountain biking includes gravel path circuits and some amazing views. We are walk fit but not particularly cycling fit with a range of abilities in our group of 9. Easy route was 10 miles and did involve hilly ascent but we were not too proud to walk some of it. Hire staff were amazing. Very helpful. Bikes great. Everyone enjoyed it!

We did the bike hire, with kids 12 and 13, was good fun, good value, good views of coniston and beautiful forestry. Bikes were good and staff were friendly and helpful. Took us the full 3 hours to get round, quite a hill but we didn't feel rushed. Definitely worth a visit. Really enjoyed this.

Very nice place.
Bring your own picnic if you don't want to spend a fortune in the cafe. Go Ape was fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly.

This is a review for the GoApe activity in the forest
Since my family of 6 did not want to hike, we opted for the obstacle course
It was both an exciting and terrifying experience for me.
I thought it would be a couple of obstacles to reach the zipline and that's it
THERE WERE SIX OBSTACLE COURSES THAT KEPT GOING HARDER AND HARDER
AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE
Every course was a challenge to your body and mind.
Now please remember that if
-you have a fear of hight
-any physical condition
Dont do it
Also, wear boots and clothes that you wont feel sorry if they get ruined by mud (and if you're anything like me, you'll land on your behind many many times)
My oldest kids finished before us, and I was stuck with my youngest two who proved to be braver than I was 😅
But, as a family adventure, we lived it so much
Couldn't stop talking about how silly and loud we became
Note: you can't carry your mobile with you by hand so I advice to have a neck holder

We visited here whilst in Lake District, we ended up doing the Millwood trail as we had two young children with us. This trial was absolutely lovely and perfect for the kids, it also had a interactive Zog the dragon trial running along it.
It rained most of the time but we still loved it, after the walk we went and had a picnic then enjoyed the big park on site at the visitor centre. Great place for all ages, highly recommend!

Great day or half day out for everyone. We had a lovely time walking a couple of the very well marked paths and was lovely being surrounded by nature and the sun was shining. Facilities hear are very good too. A place you could visit more than once during your holiday in the local area. It was nice to have somewhere to sit down and have an ice cream after a lovely walk on a sunny day. Toilet facilities too. Lots of walks, bike trails for all abilities and play areas for the children and Go Ape for children and adults. It looked great fun and quiet a bit of the over head walk ways and wires between trees. Lots of fun in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend a visit 😃

Cafe: Breakfast was £30.10 for 2 Full English & 2 small coffees. Service was helpful. Food was so-so with no decent bread on offer (only white bloomer or brioche), the beans tasted of garlic & onions and the bacon was salty.
Exhibition: Interesting, about ‘Timberjills’.
Gift shop: Excellent range of quality goods.
Walking Trail: We used our own book trail of 5 miles. There was lots of monoculture conifers and not much birdlife. The mixed woodland was lovely and the occasional sculptures surprising. Unfortunately near the end (whilst following the forest’s blue & white markers), and in pouring rain, we encountered signs forbidding entry ‘at risk of death”. We found out later it was “emergency work” but there were no diversion signs! Luckily we had a OS map to use, but it added another 2 miles!
Parking: Paid on exit. Cost us £8
(Up to 20 minutes: No charge. First hour: £2.50. Additional time: £0.50 per 15 minutes. All day maximum charge: £8. Members: Free)

The GoApe course is in the forest but selected zip wires run overhead.

Please could you confirm the parking charges for an all day visit? I have also read in the recent reviews that dogs must be kept on a lead and cannot roam freely? I cannot find any of this instruction on their website. Can you walk a dog off lead here? Please advise.

It's normally £8 max but you pay as you leave. We've been going over 20 years and see dogs off leads on walks but in the park area and on the gruffalo walk they were on leads as some children are scared and obvs should be on a lead in play area anyway :)

Yes there are different grades of walks . Especially the ones at the visitor centre . They have a map . As we have dogs we wanted something easy for them as they are getting older now. We were very impressed with all of it and how they have catered for everyone. Pushchairs and wheelchairs too !
