Huge marina to traverse across in a pedalo, kayak or paddle board of your choosing. Very scenic and relaxing with plenty of space for you and others to roam around.
We chose a two-person, sit-on-top kayak for three hours. We showed up on site with no prior booking and were able to hire unproblematically. There are plenty of watercraft available, so this might be why we got away without pre-booking!
Be wary perhaps in the summer holidays when it’ll get busier.

Thanks so much to Cam for a fantastic couple of hours doing our basic introduction to SUP paddleboarding a couple of weeks ago. He was brilliant at explaining everything and got us to do all the things we wanted to do so we could go out on our own. Graham and Amanda , Sheffield

We had a great time on the Lake on Paddle boards. It was a first time for both of us. We were going to hire a Kayak or Motor boat but thought Paddle boarding would be
fun to try. We arrived just before lunch and hadn't booked so were not very hopeful as it was holiday time and lovely weather. The staff were really helpful and said we could hire boards and wet suits. We hadn't eaten so we said we would return after lunch. Although they were busy with school groups and other bookings nothing was any trouble to them. We were soon fitted with wetsuits ,life jackets, boards and paddle and the rules of the lake was explained to us and off we went.

My family and I were visiting the Lake District and really wanted to get on the lake so we chose kayaking. Even though we had little experience, it was so much fun. The staff gave us some great tips and they made the whole process really easy. It was a very reasonable price as well. Would definitely recommend going here if visiting!

Under developed which left us underwhelmed. Rife for expansion and yet lives in the 1970's \not worth the effort of visiting in present state

Great experience paddle boarding. It was a chilly windy day. After a warm welcome and getting set up my teens had an enjoyable hour paddle boarding on the lake. They were advised beforehand if it was too choppy or cold they could come back after an hour and we’d be reimbursed for the second hour. They also offered to let them swap for a kayak instead. They stuck with the paddle boards and had an enjoyable hour on the lake. It was too cold for the 2! We would definitely book again in the warmer months. Good quality equipment and very helpful staff.

Fantastic company , from online booking to arrive and set up, condition of equipment and friendliness of staff, spot on.
The islands were lovely to stop off on and have a swim, changing rooms and toilets provided, free parking too

I visited the Marina August 21 after hiking up so of the surrounding hills. We arrived a little early and the staff were on their lunch break but they were happy for us to sit up on their decking and relax a little before heading out. As we were waiting it started to get busy so booking is definitely recommended. There was an array of option when you book from 1 and 2 seat kayaks to paddleboards and canoes.
The young lads and lasses helping us out were fantastic. All very polite and helpful, even helping to launch you from the waters edge.
Wetsuits are not provided but during the summer and autumn months, are not a necessity, I went in a swimming costume with running leggings over it and was warm enough. Buoyancy aids are mandatory and provided for all ages. You are informed about which island is private but they you are free to land on any of the other islands.
The sessions last 2 hours and that is sufficient enough (especially after hiking in the morning). There are no lockers but if you have a wet bag you can take them with you or leave them with the staff. Most people drive to the marina (adequate parking available) and so can keep everything in the car.
For someone who loves being out on the water, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back again..... maybe skipping the morning hike next time.

Hired a Canadian Canoe for a few hours to get out for a paddle on the Derwent Water. good setup and very enjoyable time.
Lucky with the weather sunny and not too windy so had some wonderful views of the surrounding hills.

Booked 2 sit-on kayaks online, booking process was easy to use. Plenty of parking at the marina, toilets and a shop. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Within minutes we had our buoyancy aid, paddle, a quick briefing as to where you can paddle to etc then it was a short walk to the launch area. Must say we had the perfect weather for it, the water was like a mill pond. We live quite local so think this will be a regular activity for us.
