It’s a lot of effort to walk up steep hill, but it is worth it! The shops and old fashioned shop fronts are beautiful. You find so many lovely small businesses up there including some hidden gems! If you can make it up the steep incline, it is very much worth it!
It would be very tricky to push a wheelchair or pushchair up steep hill, so just be mindful of this if you’re thinking of visiting.

Must see when in Lincoln. Always enjoy walking up this street with all the lovely little shops and cafes. Tiring but worth it and can visit the cathedral and castle at the top.

The main route from the shopping centre to the older part of the city surrounding the Cathedral and Castle (known as Bailgate) is up Steep Hill. A wonderful piece of history with a cobbled surface and quaint shops. But make sure that you are fit before you start! Or at least rest plenty along the way. Your heart is likely to be pumping hard but it is worth the walk.

Steep yes, but so pretty and with lots of shops and cafes along the cobbled route plus photo opportunities at every few steps.

I so enjoyed the stroll up to the Castle along Steep Hill. The pretty shops and bars provide a traditional ambience. It was particularly pretty with the xmas lights on.

Steep Hill at any time of day is wonderful and being there at Christmas made it extra charming. The local shops were wonderful and talking with the owners of each was one of our favorite things. We enjoyed walking all around and seeing the views from each part. At night, it was full of Christmas lights and cheer.

It is a really steep cobbled hill that leads into the city centre. Well sign posted everywhere. Lovely quaint buildings and independent shops and cafes. An enjoyable stroll.

The clue is in the name, this is a steep steep hill but is filled with beautiful shops and cafes. The florist was exceptionally pretty. Plenty for all

Lovely to wander up and see the independent shops. Lovely antique shops too.
Impressive shop selling tea and coffee. Got some decaf Christmas coffee too!

Der steike Aufstueg von der Einkaufsmeile zur Kathedrale/Castke lohnt sich sehr und ist immer ein Spaß. Die Fotomotive, die Geschöfte links und rechts und Tearooms laden ständig zur Pause ein. Es gibt auch Bänke zum Verweilen.....die Aussicht lohnt allemal.

There are many places where afternoon tea can be found. It's only governed by how you are able to walk ,as steep hill is exactly that ,going down is steep luckily their is a town bus service free to pensioners to assist getting back up the hill to the town square by the Cathedral.

Just stayed at theTennyson, 7 South Park LN5 8EN. Can't fault this place. Read the reviews! £40 for single room only, £60 for double, £3 extra for breakfast (highly recommended!). 20 minute walk into the city centre or short bus ride.

No parking on steep hill bul lots up at the top and bottom. If you don't want to go too far start at the to snd park just off the bail gate. Worth it!
