When I go to a city in the uk, one of the things I like to do is look to see whether there’s a forbidden planet or some other kind of geek shop then take myself there to see how much money I can spend. I’m normally pretty successful but just happen never to have gone to the one in london. I went with my wife for the first time and it was decidedly underwhelming. There’s a lot of generic tat that’s for sure, most of which I wouldn’t have been surprised to see given away free in a magazine ten years ago. The anime section was probably the best aspect of it but again had massive undertones of meh. Ultimately, I couldn’t find anything I wanted to really look at for two minutes let alone take home. I’m still not sure if this is the original forbidden planet or if it’s curated by a central head office but the apathy that seemed to surround the experience from start to finish means I’ll probably not be back again.

I must say, that this was the highlight of my London trip. I took the kids with me and they loved looking at all the memorabilia from their favorite shows and films.
A lot of the stock is in my price range and are of good quality.
It is a bit difficult to navigate with little kids as there are many corners that they get lost behind
I enjoy the discounted area as it is easily found and a lot of them are in good quality
I definitely recommend if you are a fan of steryotypically'nerdy' things

Helpful staff, lift to make downstairs accessible and reasonable prices. I couldn’t find everything I was looking for that was displayed the website but otherwise it was a fun shopping experience, definitely nerd heaven.

We ended up spending well over 90 minutes browsing this store, so if you're really into pop culture and want to have a look, definitely set aside a good amount of time. Not much in the way of Pop Vinyls, but there was a huge variety of other products to explore, and we came home with more purchases than expected. Make sure to check out the basement level as well, as they had amazing bargains in the mark-down section; managed to score a hardcover Doctor Who comic for 1 pound, amongst other things.

Ooh what's happened? I've been away a while and the comic section seems to have shrunk to about half the size - now in a cramped alcove which is no longer a pleasure to browse. The premium corner has been taken over by a mass of manga stuff - I guess that's what the young dudes read nowadays.
So are comics over? My affair with this shop finally is, I guess. We'll always have Denmark Street. Here's looking at you, kid.

Ogni volta che mi reco a Londra voglio fare un salto a Forbidden Planet.
Il primo piano è ricco di tutto quello che un nerd può sognare ma, secondo me, il pezzo forte è al piano interrato.
Migliaia e migliaia di fumetti, libri, artbook e molto altro ancora.
Oggi, in particolare, sono contento di aver comprato oltre 25 artbook di film e videogiochi importanti a circa il 93% di sconto!!!
Fantastico!

If you like manga and science fiction this is absolutely your place. You can find different mangas and comics, toys, plushies, t shirts all related to pop culture, series, movies and anime. Two things made me put a 4 instead of a 5, first there was a 3x2 offer but it was only on similar items not the ones with the 3x2 logo, maybe clarify in the sticker that they must be of the same name. And the air circulation in the -1 floor should be improved especially with so many people.

Un negozio da vedere assolutamente, per qualsiasi motivo, soprattutto se si amano i manga come me. Ho trovato cose che cercavo da mtissiimo, e ovviamente i manga al piano inferiore, tra cui anche libri da leggere. Al piano superiore sia gadget vari che statue da collezionismo. Davvero un paradiso! 👍✨

Väldigt intressant ställe det finns någonting för alla! Det fanns star wars, marvel, DC, anime och massa annat. Jag köpte bara en bok där men jag tyckte att det var kul att bara kolla på alla saker som fanns. Tack för mig

Negozio che bisogno assolutamente visitare se si e' un fan di film in generale, si possono trovare "modelli' da collezzionismo ed anche libri di tutti i tipi a prezzi ragionevoli, se si e' un fan di anime e manga, nel piano di sotto si puo' trovare un intera sezione dedicata.

Hi Charlotte.
Forbidden Planet is pretty much in the centre of London. Closest Tube stations are Tottenham Court Road and Covent Garden, but you can easily go on foot from any of the central London Landmarks such as Picadilly Circus, or Trafalgar Square.
The closest train station is Charing Cross, but if you travel by train, and your point of origin does not go to that station, the underground would be the best option, once you reach London
Rispetto ai costi medi in Italia qua i fumetti sono in genere più cari o meno cari? Mi riferisco ai classici albetti tipo quelli Marvel non a edizioni deluxe o simili. Grazie mille per l'eventuale risposta.
