We had been through Finsbury Park tube station (no kidding!) thousands of times but we had only exited there a few times. So we decided to get out and go to the park. It exceeded all our expectations!
The website tells you about the facilities (basketball, volley ball, tennis, skatepark, boating lake, outdoor gym and more besides) but on a sunny, bank holiday afternoon it was very popular with people doing all these things - but still with plenty of space to walk or picnic. We just went for a walk to look around but it is clear that it is a major resource for the locals. Some facilities will cost money to use but others are free.
The noticeboards dotted around the park show maps and some give a little history of the area (the website is not good at history). The New River makes an appearance in the north of the park - a significant source of fresh water for London dating back to 1613 (or possibly 1612 - conflicting dates - see photos).
The park is interesting for a whole range of reasons, but it is definitely worth a visit! Perhaps the local council (Haringey) should have a schools and colleges competition to redesign and improve the website?

A pleasant park with open spaces, a boating lake and ornamental garden. A good way to get there is walking down the Parkland Way from Highgate or Crouch End. It has a pleasant cafe, just right for morning coffee.

Was staying in a neighbouring hotel and saw this park, the kids loved it as they were worried there wasn't going to be much to do and they had a lot of fun running around. They also had a cafe near by with toilets which was good.

Was at an Air BnB close to the Park. Went for a few runs while there and the tracks are well maintained. Safer during daylight and not sure you would want to venture during night (not well lit). But running was fun there.

Another nice park, great for a picnic or dog walking or anything really. Has a cafe and toilets, it's not especially pretty but serves its purpose and it's not too small.

We were on another day out, this time on route to walk the Parkland Walk which runs from Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park.
We exited the tube station, and entered the park by the impressive gated entrance and wandered up the magnificent tree lined avenue that was adjacent to the very busy Seven Sisters road, to think this affluent park is next to a busy road you think you were somewhere else.
We made it up to the cafe, and had a refreshment pit stop while sitting by the boating 🛶 lake, the park has so much to offer, after we had our break we continued pass the London Marathon running track before walking to the Manor House tube exit, if as we did visit the station, it’s exceedingly good 😌 as some well known cake maker once said, the architecture and design of the station is a feet in itself.
We continued on the tube on our journey, but in summary this lovely park will keep you occupied for a couple of hours
So as the title above says GO BURY YOURSELF FIN THIS PARK we did a we loved it.

Finsbury Park is a large park in North London. There are a number of local buses serving the area as well as the Picadilly and Victoria Tube Lines which also interchange with the Thameslink and Great Northern railway franchises.
The park has quite a few wide paths which are perfect for running and cycling and there are some smaller paths too. As well as play areas there are also some tennis courts and basketball courts to utilise.
When I visited there were a large number of people taking advantage of the facilities.

Hello. Finsbury Park is a public park with an open ground and some sport facilities which include football pitches, a bowling green, an athletics stadium, and tennis and basketball courts. There is also a lake where you have the chance to hire a boat.
