Best value £20 we spent all holiday (£10 per person) We took an hours trip on this solar boat with a fantastic guide Mark. First time seeing beautiful kingfishers in a peaceful setting, no engine noise to spoil the tranquility.
Mark was an amazing guide with a great sense of humour. Would definitely do this trip again.

We got Humber Bridge boat and I will be very honest, I was sceptical taking two teenagers, baby and the dog to the broads and all bad reviews made me very nervous but it turned out all the bad reviews look like they left by miserable Karens who expect 4star hotel quality from not so young boats. we all really liked it and were possitively suprised with the experience!!!
Great staff in Beidgecraft boatyard, nice, funny and approachable, made it all clear and easy for us.
Boat was exactly what we saw on Facebook video tour… it was clean, kitchen was good (even though we were eating out most nights , I managed to cook Sunday dinner on last day with no problems ). Clearly the boat is not the newest so it could do with a bit updating of curtains and sofa but over all it was enjoyable spend time on it especially with roof open
Mooring…it’s true that it’s not many spaces for free but tbh we had no trouble finding space for two boats every day and some places we had to pay but it’s was mostly around £8 per night and some places were just amazing and quiet with nice pubs by the river and some villages had nice little shops and walks
The Only minus is if someone has little kids it wasn’t many attractions however we have teenagers so we didn’t have that problem, we have done kayaking and seaside waterpark.
Thank you to Bridgecraft boatyard!

Stunning trip along the broads for 4 days! Nothing but chill time. Weather was kind and the sun shone most of the time! Highly recommend trip but try for just out of the school holidays for a little less congested waterways 😎👍

We recently spent time in this park and the views were amazing, it was so peaceful just sitting having our lunch and seeing the boats go by. It was also a photographers paradise seeing all the expensive boats and houses along the broads.

Beautiful rivers and great wildlife, regrettably spoilt by the humans. The Broads Authority (despite their mobile river wardens) apparently have no control over youngsters jumping off road bridges into the path of boats navigating the river (Beccles), nor to stop swimming and partying at the official (BA) moorings where swimming is specifically prohibited (Oulton Dyke, Loddon, and North Cove (the latter where if felt like the whole village turned up for BBQ, drinks, paddle boarding and swimming at the mooring!)). In all we were "chased off" moorings on four occasions due to noisy teenagers, loud music etc. Littering was also an issue with one mooring having beer cans and an inflatable canoe's packaging discarded (Brundall Church Fen).
Unfortunately similar issues arise in the fishing season with anglers taking over mooring spots and making no attempt to move to allow boats to moor despite signage giving boats priority.
If on a boat you really need a deal of local knowledge to avoid the unpleasant overcrowded spots.
The term "National Park" maybe somewhat misleading for the Broads. What should be a wonderful natural area with the focus on quiet, peaceful enjoyment of countryside and wildlife has become far too overcrowded, and uncontrolled by the Broads Authority - too few Wardens; too few speed limit controls; far too many unlicensed inflatables and paddle boards; no visible policing of the "rules".
Perhaps a ban on all motor boats would be the way forward to avoid this sort of review!?

TERRIBLE!!!!
I actually had a boat out with this guy way back around 2016.
We were without engine power 20mins away from castoff. After 2hrs of calling for assistance, it finally came. We were towed backed, and having paid a pretty sum for the day, we were aggressively shunned by the owner.
Quite frankly it was embarrassing. As a Norfolk boy myself, entertaining visiting family, the boss's attitude was shocking. The guys looked ready for a fight. I was shocked and embarrased. A terrible day.
That was 2016 and I still write these reviews out of complete spite for the treatment.

We've had some fantastic holidays on all of the boats, apart from Evita. MoneyPenny is our favourite. Having owned a boat it's easier and cheaper than owning a boat with maintenance, licence and mooring fees etc. The boats are kept to the highest standard and immaculate inside and out. We are going again in October with friends to celebrate 🍾 2 very special birthdays on CoverGirl. Customer Service from NYA is exceptional.

Having hired boats on the Northern Norfolk Broads for many years, my Wife and I decided to hire on the Southern Broads during the past week.
Two observations:
1. The Southern Broads are such a relaxing place to boat, with some great moorings for those who enjoy nature. I'm not saying that they're better than the Northern Broads in general, but they certainly suit us better.
2. Broom's pivot from Boat builder to Leisure company seems to be working, with great staff, fantastic hire boats, and an overall excellent holiday experience.
I can highly recommend both the Southern Broads and Broom Boats!

We like hills and deep valleys and that kind of thing so we were disappointed as much of the area is flat with a lot of water which came as a complete surprise as it wasn’t mentioned in our guide book

Hired a boat ( skipper) from broom boats and there level of service was second to none, it wasn’t overly busy but it can be a struggle finding a mooring sometimes must be a nightmare in high season, some of the pubs we ate in the food was good but the pubs themselves could do with some refurbishment. The place is beautiful and you get to see a lot of wildlife (top tip bring binoculars ) and enjoy life at a slower pace, we sailed on the southern broads this time and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

How picturesque are the Southern Broads? We did a boating holiday last year in the Northern Broads - we particularly liked how quiet and picturesque the River Ant was, meandering, views not obscured by tall reeds, natural mooring spots tucked away every now and then.
What are the Southern Broads like? I spent just a few hours on a boat going south of Great Yarmouth about 30 years ago! I remember it being very flat, not much to see, often couldn't see anything but reeds. Is there more to the Southern Broads than that?

Hello 👋. We are cruising from brundall for a week at the end of the month. We've been on the Northern Broads before, can anyone suggest a good family itinerary for the South? We have 2 kids.
Would you recommend staying south or crossing into North?
Thanks in advance 🙂🙂🙂

Hi,
We have hired a cruiser out of Wroxham for 3 nights in July, with two children (11 and 12). Any suggestions for a do-able route would be very welcome. Also, I am reading reviews that make me think mooring could be a challenge, and we might need a dingy, so we can moor a little way out and ‘commute’ to shore - any ideas?
Thanks

Hi there. We are visiting Norfolk for the first time in a few weeks and staying in a caravan which we have hired at Breydon Water. Whilst we are in Norfolk we would love to do a trip along The Broads, however instead of marsh land we would love to see pretty places and drop into a nice pub perhaps. Can anyone suggest where we need to be to see these sights? Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I think we are considering travelling by car to locate the north broads and pick up a boat trip from there. The villages in that area are simply stunning. We are looking forward to our holiday and I thank you for your recommendation :)

Hi Kate thanks for your review, this helped us make a decision to take out a two week first time ever boat hire, We start from Brundall.
we'd really appreciate if you (or anyone else seeing this post) have an insight into what itinerary this novice boat crew of three adults and our little dog might take, we are not in any hurry and could spend a few days in one place.

Hi Tim,
It will be busy on the water.
In time frame of your holiday you should be able to up to Wroxham.
Be aware that bridge heights will play a factor.
The boats are generally well appointed.
There are lots of free moorings available but they fill up quick so be early....give you time to take the dog for a good afternoon walk.
Books (real or kindle) a must as well as cards or rummicub
Take wellies, old towel to dry dog off if he is inclined to swim.

We are in Norfolk for the weekend and wanting to visit the broads with children, where would be the best place to go to really get a feel for it? Thanks

Hi, head for Wroxham, plenty going on there, hire a dayboat, travel down the river, check out Wroxham broad, then Salhouse Broad then on to Horning, which is about as far as you'll probably manage with kids in a day, plenty to see.

I would definitely base myself at Wroxham. From there you can take the train or bus all over the Broads. If you google 'Things to do around Wroxham for Children ' you will see some entertainment for them. Happy Holidays.

The cost of filling a boat for (6 people) looking to stay for 7 nights...so weighing up the additional hidden costs?

It really depends on how far you travel. If you're hiring from a boatyard fuel is included in your total price. We began our boat journey from Wroxham. We went to Stalham (great clubhouse in the chalet park opposite the boatyard with cheap meals etc. ).
We also moored up at Potter Heignham + from there we caught a bus to Gt. Yarmouth.
We did a couple of other villages all on the North broads. We got app. £60 back from the fuel tank.
So unless you're going from North to South Broads, you'll definitely have enough fuel.
