It's a relic from Whitby's past as a participant in the whaling trade. It's something that some people may feel uncomfortable about and may want to forget. Even so, the men/sailors involved we're very brave and did what was acceptable at the times they lived.

Interesting to go and see, worth the walk up from the bottom. Fab views of the sea and across to the church and abbey. Plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the view.

We went to Whitby on Thursday. Just been looking through our photos and saw this in the background near the whalebone arch could be a young boy with a mask but looks more like some kind of ewok to me 😱

This arch is across road from Royal Hotel high up on left side of Whitby worth going up for the view.

We went for Halloween weekend, stayed at the Royal,on West Cliffe lovley old hotel,we always stay there clean& great breakfast, whitby is enchanting, I'd live there tomorrow 😋🥰

Something that Whitby is well known for but not someone you would need to break your teeth to see. They have been changed over time.

They're bones from a whale. Made into an arch. Visually its pretty cool, just not sure what kind of review to write for this. Step to the side and you get the same view.
Joking side, its a cool little monument to the history of Whitby and its where the Ghost walks start!
