The staff was excellent, very kind and helpful. The windmill still makes flour, using grains from the UK and also from Ukraine, raising money towards their cause. Lots of internet I’ve activities, perfect for school trips and trips for all ages.

This is a great little museum with welcoming staff and a fascinating story about the windmill and former owner George Green.
We visited with my 6 year old who was really engaged with the science experiments and learning how a windmill works.
The site is a set within some gardens which would be great in the spring or summer so we will definitely return.

Very cold wintery day with very warm welcoming volunteer staff.
I have mobility issues which they noticed and provided a chair and interesting tablet access whilst my wife and granddaughter ascended the mill stairs
Their attentiveness made the whole visit so much more enjoyable
Despite being off peak there was plenty to see especially for younger children

A delightful setting in spacious grounds, this still working mill offers a good range of activities for visitors. After viewing the mill, a series of hands on family features describe the history of the mill.
A wonderful studio is joined to this, where workshops can be held.
A gift shop completes the courtyard, where a few drinks are available too.
Toilets are quite reasonable.
Parking is easily available, but the council maintained car park does present problems with payment. It’s expensive and relatively short stay. No meter is available to make payment, although a phone number is shown on signage, which does help you to make payment. But - the standard method seems to now be by app, which not everyone has. For those that did have the app, it was not working today.

There is a little free car park just below the windmill, were you can park for free for 2 hours.
The windmill itself doesn't take long to look around, but you do get a flavour of what life as a Miller is like.
Worth a visit...and free is always worth it.

My 7 years old granddaughter had a Scone baking session and loved it so much. Then the science centre for kids so captivating. Highly recommended

Visited Green's Windmill for the Heritage Days in combination with the William Booth Museum as both places are situated close together. What a lovely spot on the hill with beautiful views of the city! Fascinating to see the milling process, although not in action as the hot summers don't produce enough wind to turn the sails unfortunately, the miller explained amongst many other fascinating facts. It was especially nice that the staff had dedicated a lovely corner with condolence book and a lovely painting and lifesize cutout of our beloved Queen for the visitors to pay their respects. Also they had laid flowers at the foot of the Jubilee beacon which was also a lovely touch and much appreciated! If your legs are up to a steep climb, well worth a visit!

My daughter had her birthday party here. It could not have been better, the staff and volunteers were so attentive and went above and beyond throughout. The room was decorated beautifully, the food was prepared and well laid out. Staff helped me to carry presents to and from my car, children were engaged with perfectly. What was so special was that the party was 11-1pm and one poor child got confused and arrived at 1pm, without hesitation room was made for him and they stayed behind to put a pizza in the oven for him and an additional one for his sister who wasn’t even part of the booking! Everyone was so kind, it was simply a perfect party. Thank you.

We came here for the first time as a family, for a pizza making morning. The two men running the morning were both amazing with the kids and adults alike. The visitor centre was great for a half hour with kids and they enjoyed the walk around the wee garden at the back. The steps up to the top of the windmill were a little precarious for a toddler, and the woman who was in charge of the pizza distribution at the end was frantic and threw the carefully made pizzas into a bag knocking all the toppings off, mixing up my two sons as I tried to convey who was who's. This put a dampner on the day tbh but apart from this it was fab.

Molto interessante, giochi scientifici per bambini fiori e bella visita all interno. Ben tenuto! L ingresso è gratuito ma 5£ di donazione se li meritano proprio

There is a car park on Windmill lane. Free for two hours which is long enough to visit.
Can I come with a small dog?

Hi can you walk from the centre? I was thinking of leaving my car at the park and ride.

Hi, I wouldn't advise walking from the centre unless you are happy to walk for half an hour or so. There's not much around the windmill and so bare that in mind when you set off!

Hi Mariangel, Green's Windmill is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Entry is free but we do of course accept donations for the charity that runs the mill. Best wishes, Jamie Duff, Green's Windmill Trust

I can't seem to find any info on entrance costs etc. How much is it to get in?

Hi Ryan, entrance to the windmill and science centre is free. We do however accept donations for the charity that runs the mill. Work on the exterior has most been completed, and the majority of the scaffolding is currently being reduced to the height of the gallery, which will allow us to operate the mill again over Easter. how do i get there by public transport?

To get to the mill via bus you would need to catch number 43 to Sneinton Dale/Bakersfield, Red Line Nottingham City Transport, from Nottingham City Centre on King Street. Alight at Windmill Lane and the mill is a short, signposted, walk from there.
