We didn't manage to go to the toll house as it was closed but walked across the bridge and got some great views of the valley.

We visited the Iron Bridge briefly while driving through the area. We parked at the pay and display park across the river. The bridge spans the River Severn and as the first Iron bridge, it's an important landmark as the birthplace of the industrial revolution - hard to imagien as thwe area is se serenely beautiful.
You can walk across the bridge and also around and under it for free, we didnt have the time for any museums though.

We visited the Iron Bridge during a short visit to the area on a Saturday lunchtime in July. We had driven here and there is a good amount of (pay &display) parking available nearby. The bridge spans the River Severn at the town given its name by the first Iron bridge in the world.
The structure of the bridge dominates its surroundings and is very photogenic. Visitors may walk over the bridge and also around and under it to gain an appreciation of the structure of this wonder of the industrial revolution. We did not visit the associated Tollhouse Museum here, but would have done if we had had more time. The village of Ironbridge itself is worth of a visit hosting as it does souvenir shops, eateries and public toilets.

A beautiful structure with full access to appreciate its construction. The toll house, though small is interesting. The surrounding shops are unique and the bookshop well worth a visit. Plenty of cafes and lovely river walks. Very picturesque.

WOW. the bridge is outstanding. This is it no Sydney Harbour bridge, no golden gate, no Brooklyn, no tower bridge without this one coming first. Walked over it and admired the Severn from it. Went to the toll house too which is worth a visit and informative guide. ALL FREE which makes a nice change

Must see! We spent around an hour in Ironbridge, walked over the bridge, browsed some of the shops, took some beautiful photos of the bridge and then continued on our travels. It’s one thing ticked off the list of life.

Now fully restored and magnificent in it's "original" state.
A must see if you're interested in our industrial history, possibly boring otherwise.
Interesting (small) toll house museum, with helpful member of staff "in charge". There may be a entry charge , or it may be part of the overall ticket price for the Ironbridge group of museums (so be careful) - we used Art Pass which makes it free.
Ironbridge itself is worth spending time in - lots of small shops/cafes plus the Merrythought teddy bear "factory/shop" at the far end of the High St !

Great to see the bridge up close. The town itself is also charming with a variety of small independent shops. Picked up some locally produced booze and explored the bookshop. Lovely spot to grab an ice cream and admire the bridge.

Great opportunity to step back in time and view/walk across the restored 'Iron Bridge'. Great views of the River Severn. Lots of interesting shops to visit. A great bookshop with a vast range of titles available.

I am not aware of any guided walking tour. The Guardian Newspaper suggests a self-guided tour on its website - you might like to try that.
Hi, is there any public transportation available from Telford central train station to The ironbridge? Thanks

Quote from a travel guide for the area.......
'The Gorge Connect bus operates
every weekend and Bank Holiday Monday from the
beginning of April to the end of October, the bus
serves the Ironbridge Gorge area as well as Telford
town centre and Telford Central Railway Station'.

Is there a charge to cross the bridge as will only have time to visit the Victorian Village as well so probably won’t pay us to buy a passport.
Howlo

No entrance fee to the Toll House or Bridge. There is a pleasant and interesting display inside. If you intend to go the Village you probably will best buying the pass and you can visit all the museum for 12 months.
the distance on foot from the iron bridge to the jackfield bridge and back again?

We stayed in Coalport and walking distance to Ironbridge is about 1.75 miles. I would say the tile museum is no more than a mile.

I would like to visit with my friend who has a small well-behaved dog (will be on a lead). What attractions will and won't we be able to go into? thanks

Hi, you can walk over the Iron bridge and there are 3 different walks of various lengths from there which are great to exercise the dog. Then you can take a dog into the Victorian Village free of charge. (around £18pperson) The only places there the dog can't go in are the cafe and the food shops. We also found lots of dog friendly pubs in the area. If you visit Ludlow the dog can go into the castle and there is a short walk around the castle grounds.
