The first thing that hits you when you visit is that the staff are so enthralled with this site they are bubbling with enthusiasm. They obviously love the factory and their work in it and this added so much to an already stunning piece of our industrial heritage.
The site is breathtaking in its originality, you do not visit this museum here in 2024 you are transported back in time.
The atmosphere allows you to imagine the past so distinctly.

Very disappointed that this was closed. Very few times of the year when it said it would be open and only certain days even then.

Such an interesting place with a compelling story from heyday to decline of an industry…. Personal stories of the workers and a glimpse into how the factory was left when it closed its doors is mesmerising….as well as being able to watch clay pipes being made! Fantastic.

Broseley Pipeworks ( no not sewer pipes as my husband and another gent thought but clay smoking pipes!!)is only open at certain times and I believe is now shut for the 2019 season. However when it reopens in 2020 make sure you visit as the history of clay pipe making is fascinating and the variety of pipes made is incredible. Roy the volunteer guide who showed us round was very interesting to listen to and very knowledgeable. The tour involves going through the different rooms seeing where each process was completed. There is a good display of pipes in cabinets and also another volunteer making pipes enabling you to see how difficult and skilled the job was. The bottle kiln used to fire the pipes is still intact. There are items for sale in the small shop including clay pipes.

We drove out here on a Friday, unfortunately I did not check the opening times which were Saturday for tours only!

A very interesting place to visit,but care is issential as there's lots of obstacles,very informative and a fair bit to see,you are escorted round and kept informed about everything that went on.a great experience in my opinion,the past has a lot to offer,and make you feel how lucky you are today.This attraction is now only open on a Saturday morning from 11am (From what I was told all due to cut backs)but an interesting place to visit,tells yopu all about pipe making and all the different sorts,clay pipes for smoking that is,not the underground sort.

Having visited most of the other Ironbridge museums, and really enjoyed them, I decided to fit this one in on my last day. Make sure that you arrive as close as possible to the scheduled tour times as if you are too early you will have to wait outside for a while. There is a fascinating self guided tour you can do if this happens, to the 'Jitties' in the area... I will leave that as a curiosity for you to find out about! The outside of the museum also has a tiny Quakers graveyard which is quite poignant.
The guide who took us round was extremely knowledgeable, and fleshed out and made sense of what we could see. The site remains more or less untouched since the last workers left as recently as 1960 which was a great surprise to me. There are some interpretation and explanation panels around the culture of tobacco and smoking including the social aspects and also of it's relationship to slavery, which is of course a very sobering aspect. You will have the chance to also see an archive film showing pipe making taking place.
Be aware that there are some steep and winding wooden staircases to navigate.
It's a very unique and special place and I am so glad it has received funding to keep it preserved and open to the public.

Would never have gone there but for a school trip but so glad I did.
Tiny place but full of so much history, all laid out in a very real life and accessible way. You get taken round by a tour guide who makes it fascinating. Some of the stairs are narrow and steep so you need to be a bit sure footed. Well worth a visit. Check website for days and times.

Very interesting to see the place my husbands ancestors worked in, Great to see what tools were used and some of the products that were made .

Like several other people who have reviewed this Museum, we weren't expecting to be there very long - in fact I think my husband would have given it a miss altogether had it not been one of the 10 museums included in our passport. However, we were so pleased we did it - and much is due to the wonderful Anne who showed us round, told us the story and is clearly so passionate about the place! The fact that the building has been kept exactly as it was when the business closed is what makes it so absorbing. Please, don't miss it!
