Lovely place good value for money, carpark small and tight to park car. We was checky and parked in Morrisons. The Abbey was stunning, yes I know its in ruins but in its day it must have been magnificent. Lots to walk around and learn it's history. Would come back again. It was really peaceful, plenty of places to sit and meditate. Good for all the family, small children have the freedom to run around.

A real must-visit when you're in Glastonbury, this place justifies the entry fee. The guided tour was included and of a high standard, giving us plenty of background about the history of the Abbey. The grounds are also vast and a nice place to spend a few hours.

I truly enjoy whenever I go to Abbey for an event, the shop, the museum. Attentive shop assistants, friendly people at the sales counter and the trees are so amazing

We had a great guided tour of the site on the day where a concert was due to take place that evening. Our wonderful guide battled against AC/DC in a sound check while telling us about the history and legends of the site. We personally enjoyed both the music and the history. The Abbey would have been a vast bustling noisy place, so the extra noise wouldn’t have been out of keeping. The Abbey would have been vast! Photographs don’t do the true height justice. We were shown how to read the sculpted doorway, and what phase of building took place when. The abbot’s kitchen is an architectural gem. We enjoyed ourselves very much. £12.50 entry.

The tale of Kjng Arthur’s tomb being discovered in the 12th century probably needs a lot more convincing but this beautiful ruins of the earliest Christian monastic site is not to be missed . There is a free guided tour which is really good and the touch screens , model and boards dotted around the place tell a wonderful story. A lot of work has gone into digitally reconstructing the ruins to present a more vivid picture of what is used to be! Highly commendable work to to the team managing this beautiful site .

Lovely time at Glastonbury Abbey! Been so long since I was last there and wanted to visit while I was there for my birthday week away. Luckily the sunshine was with us and my partner and I had a relaxing slow walk looking at the ruins and grounds. Loved the little chapel off to the side and the information indoors too.
I love King Arthur myth and legend so I always find it fascinating, as it has the supposed burial place of this famous and his Queen Guinevere. Definitely a lovely way to pass the time and immerse in history too.

We were expecting tranquility and peace and instead we got portaloos and trundling beeping vehicles as well as very ugly orange things with safety barriers everywhere. I just really feel it detracted from the visit and if we had known any extent of disruption we would genuinely have not paid £12.10 each to come in. We were completely unware as we paid. No one said anything. Also the toilets are disgusting and finally, we wanted to go the Saxon pottery display, advertised on the board as we went in, to be told, when we asked where it was, words to the effect of, ‘I can’t be bothered to do it today’. Don’t advertise it then!

The Abbey area is beautiful to visit. The abbey's history is very interesting, the ruins fascinating. Of course there is the site of (possibly) King Arthur's and Guinevere's grave which is a very special one to visit and contemplate about.
You can easily find a lonely spot and simply enjoy the atmosphere as the abbey park is so big!
We also found the outdoors café open and enjoyed some delicious ice cream there. :)
The abbey shop is very interesting as well, offering items of many kinds. Very worth taking your time there.

Went independently, there was a tour just starting as we arrived but we decided against joining that, more enjoyable to just wander round the site.
Such a fascinating place to visit, there was a sense of peace everywhere we went, a sense of spirituality which was totally unexpected.
Make sure you take a picnic as so many places to stop and relax around the site. You could easily spend a day just wandering around, taking in the history of the place.
Would definitely go again if in the area as we didn't get to see everywhere.
Not much selection though in the gift shop.

Eerst had ik de oude bomen nog niet gezien, maar sommige oude bomen zijn zeker de moeite waard.

Hi Ann
Living History tours of the abbey are included in the admission price. They run daily March to October except occasional days which are listed on the website. Times are also online.

Hello,
By Bus - First runs buses from Bristol to Glastonbury. It has a full timetable on its website. Currently it is the 376 Bristol to Street bus which you need to look for.
By Train - Bristol Temple Meads to Castle Cary and then a taxi from Castle Cary to Glastonbury.
Trips: We have just launched a trip which goes to and from Bath. The trip takes you to Wells, Stratton on the Fosse and Glastonbury in a day. There is information on this on our news page on the main abbey website.
