Had an amazing time at the Ghost Tour of the museum. We got to walk around after dark with a singular light while being told stories. My partner and I loved every second. Eleanor was a brilliant tour guide who kept us engaged the whole time. We didn’t get to go during the daytime but from what we got to see, I’d dare say it’s well worth a visit then too. Overall it was so much fun and great for anyone who enjoys the spookier side of things!

Highly recommend the ghost tour after dark of Shrieve's house. It really is atmospheric lit only by lantern and candles, and guide Eleanor strikes the right balance of spooky and humour 👻

Wilfred was brilliant informative scary and made the evening!
The only downside was we were joined by a couple of younger generation ( they were late ) but the young 18 something boy thought using the term f***** every 5 mins was acceptable in a group of people . He also managed to fall into one of the attractions at some stage - he spoilt what have been a thoroughly enjoyable evening ! Grow up or stay at home !!
Wilfred dealt with him brilliantly and suggested if he couldn’t stop sweating then maybe he would be asked to leave, shame that he had to put up with it as well but here’s a huge

A really informative museum.
There is so much information packed into a small space.
Take care to take your time through the museum, so you can make the most of the details and the little quiz/challenges.
There are some hands-on exhibits where you can dress up / sit on a throne etc - perfect photo-ops for the instagrammers.
The have-a-go desk for quil writing was fun.
The museum has done a really good job of making the most of every inch of the place.
We didn't do the ghost walk because we're wimps, but our friends who did said it was a fantastic experience.

We came on Halloween for a ghost tour lead by Myrtle it was absolutely fascinating. She was well informed and just the right amount of spooky and funny. Would highly recommend doing the ghost tour. You walk round in the dark with lanterns and it give a whole new way to experience history.

I visited with my mum, siblings and my husband. It was an enjoyable day out. We thoroughly enjoyed going through all of the rooms in the museum and we all had a good time. It was interactive and engaging for kids as well as adults. Only problem was the parking. There wasn’t any nearby and the one we did park was very expensive.

We had the best time on a ghost tour this evening it was the perfect Halloween activity. Eleanor was an excellent tour guide she was really funny but this didn’t detract from the scary stories in any way, in fact it just enhanced them. The stories were interesting at the same time it was great to get an insight into the history of the building. I would highly recommend the ghost tour. The team were really helpful in the booking process too. Thanks for an amazing evening

We were lucky to have the wonderful Winifred guiding our tour tonight. She was engaging, knowledgeable, personal and hilarious throughout (obviously posessed 😉) she made the experience interesting and fun.

Amazing experience! We went in the day time and we looked around! It was really good fun, we learnt lost and was interactive! We did a witch trial (unfortunately we are both witches) and also tried our hand at writing with quills! Would be great for kids as well! And really good value for money! We loved it so much we came back that evening and did a ghost tour around the place! Was really spooky and interesting! Would definitely recommend! Winifred was our ghost tour and she was awesome! Funny! Informative! And scary!

Me and my partner did the ghost tour on Friday the 13th we were surprisingly greeted by the amazing Winifred. She made our night truly spectacular with spooks and great humour. I would definitely recommend this experience as she took time to walk us through the tour and answer all of our questions in depth. Thank you Winifred !

Apologies for the delay in replying. The museum can get very busy in the afternoons during holiday periods and weekends, but is a lot quieter in the mornings. We do get lots of school groups (even during the holiday as we have international schools visiting), which can take up a lot of space. If you are at all worried do give us a quick ring before you visit.
